Have you considered making shoes with metal parts? I made some nice yet captivating platforms from a wood mule shoe. After cutting off the vamp I used colored household electrical wire for vamp straps. Ankle strapping was aviation cable in clear tubing (very difficult to cut) with crimped eyelets on ends. Once padlocks went on, they weren't coming off easily. She told me they were "reasonable" to walk in. I may have pictures somewhere. Shoes have been passed on, but I'm working on a better design, so I'll post again when images are available. Lock, pose then prance! 8)

  2. Only story I can tell is a friend of a couple met the three of us at a bar recently in Seattle when I was wearing ~ 3" heels. They were Steve Madden Minow in powder blue. My friends don't care one way or the other about much when it comes to individulality, so long as a person has some. Initially this woman gave me the business about not being masculine and indicators of unresolved gay issues. I told her it was nothing like that and politely to accept my footwear or blow it out her ear. After two drinks, she came about and got all inquisitive. By the end of the night we talked about shoes, stores, and all the related topics. It really didn't go anywhere beyond "girl talk" but she wasn't my type anyway so it was just novel to see her do a 180 in a short period of time. Funny jab I delivered was about her wearing jeans. I said "Your legs must not be much to see if you have to cover them up." Boy that went over like a ton of bricks. All in all I had the last laugh and it was just another experience with a "shoe newbie".

  3. Hope I'm not sidetracking the topic, but my question is: has anyone made his / her own shoes from scratch? I'm considering some designs using a basic wood slide ~ 4 to 5 inches tall (buy something for parts then improve it) with rainbow colored electic wire for strapping. Or perhaps using rubber O-rings cut into lengths for vamp, arch, ankle strap etc. Is this idea too far off the topic? Please refer me to the appropriate post if this should be relocated. I am interested in anyone's feedback. I should have a pair completed within the next six weeks and will provide pictures. My target completion date is end of August. The follow-up pair will have some sort of lighting, so she can find me in the dark. My motivation is a unique shoe to wear clubbing. TIA for your commentary.

  4. I have a couple stories to tell of retail shoe shopping. Way back when, about 10 years ago, I went to The Wild Pair in Bellevue WA (in a trendy snobby upscale mall called Bell-square) and bought these killer white thigh-high leather boots with 5" heels. The store had about 5 or 6 highschool girls meandering about who didn't even notice me. I used the excuse they were for my girlfriend and whether or not the sales bimbo believed me it was cool. I was shopping with a babe who was just a friend but was as hooked on shoes as me. End of story is: purchased without any frowns or weird looks. Second jaunt was at a shoe chain that specialized in budget stuff a la Payless, but more of an outlet place, in Lynnwood WA (home of big hair!). I was with my GF and took a pair of black size 10 strappy suede sandals to the counter. I simply asked the sales chick "what's your return policy if these don't fit?" She gave me the speech and all was good. I went over to see what my GF was checking out and figured, "what the hell!". I tried them on and only freaked out one little old lady about 70 years old or so trying on disgusting "old lady flats". Other than her disdain, nobody noticed and I strutted about for five minutes or so. $9.99 + tax later they were mine. I still have them. They are Candies. Is this interesting or just run of the mill? Your comments are welcome.

  5. Color is everything. I like fuchsia very much. Mostly I try to collect unique colors (yellow patent, blue satin, pink hologram). Wildest color combination I have are 6" platform wedges. They have an orange heel cup and ankle strap. The vamp has 5 braided cords over the arch comprised of gold, bronze and orange. These are very eye catching, yet not so wild as to conjure fetish notions, so I've been told. I think if the shoe style is equated to a food type, then its color dictates the flavor. Enjoy.

  6. I've been buying heels for about 20 years. I prefer strappy sandals. This is my weakness and the style dominates my 100+ pair collection. Lowest I have are 1" and there are four pairs. Bulk of the collection has 4" heels. Highest I own are 8" (with platform) and best overall fit are the half-dozen which have looping laces crossing the foot then wrapping up around the heel. This arrangement accommodates almost any width foot, since the vamp is not fixed. Brands I own run a broad range from high-end D with a G to budget "spend less" label (not sure if naming brands is allowed, so will error cautiously). Favorite boots are thigh-high 5" white leather slip on style from a "Wild" vendor purchased six months before one of their retail stores closed. Most favorite shoes EVER are 6" rainbow-colored 5-strap platforms with instep straps. They have flashing lights AND colored beads in the clear bases. If anyone would like to see pictures please indicate so in a post and I'll do oblige. Enjoy.

  7. My unique 6 inch heel walking story happened at a lady's house who had a home gym. The room was quite large with various exercise machines. We both tried riding her exer-cycle in heels (fun to do and watch!) and walking on her treadmill. The latter was difficult and punishing in a truly fetish manner. Best of all and where it became unique involved the dense rubber cushion-flooring. It was a shock-absorbing material which compressed a bit and slowly returned to normal. We found walking back and forth with weight on the heels left small spike marks. These dimples left a path on the flooring for a short period. We challenged each other to see how fast we could strut leaving the most dimples behind us. I cannot remember the winning count, but it was very enjoyable "exercise". Enjoy

  8. I just got a pair of 8" Pleaser platforms recently (effective arch is 4.5") and have worn them from Friday evening at 6 till Monday morning at 6. It was blast and since they are genuine leather they broke in nicely. It was fun and nice just to pull a straight 60 hours. My arches took a while to "come down" afterward but that's part of the challenge. Images are here for a while: [item #] 300090125093 BTW my wrists fit through the platform openings so more bondage experiments are on the horizon. Enjoy

  9. First post and I'm glad to be here. On the topic of making shoes, I have done these tasks with decent success: Took wood slides and removed upper. Then I replaced with electrical wire insulation (single lead household stuff 14 GA with strands pulled out --- provides PVC'ish tubing) attached to ring terminals then nailed into wood. Looks cool, gives rainbow effect if desired. Also used pour-foam once to make ~ 3" wedges. Trimmed stuff with coping saw and utility knife. Results were OK and "springy". Pour-foam got cotton rope for upper and ankle-ties. Hope this helps. Glad to pass on some tidbits.
