  1. Wow! Gina, those are beautiful shoes. I just looked through the entire thread. Actually, until getting more involved in this site, I thought my little collection was really fabulous . . . but now I am reminded how far I still have to go to get up to those luxurious price categories. My most expensive pair are some S. Weitzman overknees w. 5" heels - which were a gift. But basically I stay in the $200-$300 range. Seeing your shoes makes me itch even more to get the $ necessary to climb to that level. A long way to go. Oh, and BTW - you also look fabulous modeling them

  2. I guess 6" is my basic limit. I have a pair of Pleaser pumps w a 6 1/2" super thin spiked heel and no platform. They are a size 9 (I usually wear 8.5), and I haven't tried wearing them outside, but getting around the apartment is a bit of a challenge. I also don't like the fact that I have trouble straightening my legs completely when I stand tall in them. Probably the extra half inch makes the difference. All my other heels with 5+" heels have platforms, so I'm not sure where my realistic limit is - but 6" is a good guess.

  3. I don't drive much. But the main problem I find with driving with any nice boots or shoes on is that it is murder on the leather. Too many scrapes. But I've done it anyway. Probably never tried it with higher than 4". It worked fine. You just have to make sure the ball of your foot is squared properly against the pedals. Shoes with very pointed and long toes are more of a problem than high heels, I think. I have one pair of boots I got in 2005 which I have worn driving recently with extremely pointed toes. The spiked heel is only about 3 1/2" I think, but I kept missing the brake because I was touching it with the point of my boot.

  4. I guess I never really thought about this until looking at this site. The thought is a little strange to me, but I guess I'm not really against it. It would depend on what the guy looked like. I mean, like if he is strong and muscular, it would take away so much of that hotness. Then I have to think about my boyfriend, who is 6'7", with a (male) size 12-13 foot, and I wouldn't even begin to be able to imagine that without giggling. But I guess on some guys it could look ok. Need to think about this some more.

  5. I agree in theory. But there is the wish many have to be fashionable and to fit in well with friends. Since I started raising my heel heights a year ago or so, I think I might always stay on the high side of the trends. Actually I was also sort of on the high side back in high school - but that was in context of what was going on fashion-wise at my school, which only meant 3 - 3 1/2" . But this is not what this thread is about. It's supposed to be about the trends and not about me. I still think the trend will be for heel heights to come down somewhat over the next couple of years (sadly) - but not before they fully play out the huge chunky heel look of the 70s and 90s.

  6. I'm so hoping that the 5+" heels (and even 6+") will stay for a while. Firstly, because I really like wearing them - but also because I've also invested so much money in some over the past year that I want to be able to keep wearing them. And, I am so addicted to buying shoes and boots I love that I want to keep doing so (and I have to admit it is partially the heel height which has me a little bit obsessed). But I fear that the heel heights are starting to lower a little bit overall this season.

  7. Hi, I've been looking in and out of this site for some months now and finally decided to plunge in. I admit that shoes and boots are my most fav clothing articles. I only had about 17 or 18 pairs a year ago, and now am up to about 50 (!). A little out of control, but enjoying it (even though my pocketbook doesn't), and my bf doesn't complain at all. I'll be checking things out here from time to time and joining in when I find something to say. I've already learned a lot just reading around. xox Serena
