I do, occasionally. We have these strings across our balcony to hang out our laundry (not sure what they are called), but my boyfriend put them just a tad too high for me to reach comfortably. Since I need to put on shoes before stepping out onto the balcony anyway (so as to not get my socks dirty), I usually put on a pair of my higher heels, which makes me just tall enough to do the job comfortably. I also sometimes wear my high heel sandals around the house for fun/practice when cleaning.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll try the easy option, of walking up and down my balcony (made of rough concrete) a lot of times, first. If that doesn't help, I'll try the sandpaper/emery option.

Hi everyone. I finally registered today after lurking for months. I love high heels, both wearing them and looking at people wearing them Most shoes in my shoe collection have at least some kind of heel, although most aren't what I'd consider high heels... I'll list them all in order of heel height: Brown suede ankle boots, flats Black matte PU ankle boots, thick rubber sole (1" in front, 1.5" in back) Black leather knee-highs, 2" chunky heel Black matte PU ankle boots, 2.5" chunky heel Brown glossy PU ankle boots, 3.5" blade heel Brown wedge sandals, 4.5" heel with 1.5" platform White leather sandals, 4.75" thin (but not quite stiletto) heel with .75" platform I think it's amazing how easily you get used to heel heights. The 3.5" boots felt pretty high at first, but now it's hard to tell the difference between them and the 2" knee-high boots. I only got the white sandals recently and they felt high again at first, but now the 4" (relative) heel is already starting to feel pretty comfortable... I might have to start looking for 4.5-5" shoes soon

Hi everyone. I've been lurking here for a while now, but finally actually registered
I recently bought a pair of white Michael Antonio heels off eBay (for only $5!!). They fit just fine, but the soles are very slippery. I don't know what kind of material it is, but it feels about as smooth as polished wood to the touch... So I'm fine when walking on carpeting or rough pavement, but when I first stepped onto my wooden floor, I kind of felt like Bambi when he first steps onto the ice in the movie
Here's a picture of the bottom of the shoes:
(They have a 4 3/4" heel with 3/4" platform, for the curious.)
Can anyone think of a way to make them a bit less slippery? Maybe some kind of fabric or other (rubbery?) material that I could superglue or otherwise attach to the soles of the shoes. Or a way to somehow make the soles themselves more rough?
Thanks in advance!

Apparently the Polish version of Next Top Model did a shoot using ballet boots last year...
Segment with the girls picking out shoes and trying them on (includes the (male) designer of the shoes casually strutting around in a pair of ballet boots that aren't even fully laced up )
And the resulting photos:
