Damn pete! You have the block in that thing sitting pretty low in there! Your design?
Yup. Handles like a sporty car.

Hoping to finish painting parts of my house. One of those things I started when I moved in about 5 years ago. Previous owner was very colorful (colorblind?) and had tons of art hanging from the walls. My living room is riddled with holes where she ripped out the drywall anchors, which have been covered with spackling since the first year I lived there. The plum colored wall in the dining room kind of clashes with the canary yellow with white spots. I'd also like to do something about the pistachio green master bath with the cracked floor tiles, but one thing at a time.
I've also been itching to build a tube guitar amp, something some friends have been urging me to try. Not from a kit mind you, but actually designing one. Maybe a modest combo amp, about 10 watts, push pull 6V6 output tubes, two stage 12AX7 preamp, 12AT7 phase inverter, built into a varnished wood case with a 10" speaker. Already got the beginnings of a preamp going on my workbench .
If you are going to go "era" with the output tubes, you need 6SL7's for the preamp and phase inverter or you could go transformer coupled with some Williamson transformers.

Pete - Any idea where I might find the story you refer to as I am not aware of it?
Try this.

If I am interpreting your original post correctly, your looking for a shoe with no or minimal platform, and a true 4-1/2" to 5" height. Not expensive, and would probably need to try it on in a somewhat comfortable location.
Based on this, where I would be looking is your local exotic adult boutique. May seem like a strange suggestion at first, but they are likely to have exactly what your looking for.
Example. The Ellie model 8220 comes in a variety of colors although most shops will have black, white and red. Most shops have these at about $26.00 a pair. Some locations may be willing to order in specific sizes and models for you to try on, and yes, most of these locations have guys who are 'trying and buying'.

Check out the attached links but keep in mind these companies are usually catering toward adult boutiques and the dancers. Still there are some nice designs, and there are a few of us guys who own some of these styles.

I have enjoyed this story each time I have read it, the first being many years ago. IMO it is a pity that no-one seems to write stories like this any more although there have been a couple of attempts.
This story was cloned shortly after it came out except that the item was not shoes but thick glasses.

Haven't you ever heard of people who are in the closet?
There are people around who, for one reason or another, do not wear heels outside. This probably equates to 80% of the membership here. This is either through choice or fear of what discovery will bring.
It is not up to you to judge these people or to call them perverts.
Thank you Tara.

I think I have done enough search and research without satisfying results to warrant asking for help. I have been looking for a pair of heels to wear around the house. Just plain simple low to medium plat round closed toe plats. Very common on todays market? Not with a 4 1/2 to 5 inch actual rise.(Preferably 5) I also don't want to spend my retirement fund getting them. New or used, makes no diff.

If God meant us to fly, we would have wings.

I don't wear men's shoes...
Likewise.

Yes.
It's like the girl who spends many thousands on a boob job and then wears a low cut top and then complains that men are looking at her tits!
I must be wierd, I look at boobs first, then heels.

Classical and olde tyme.

For those that are into glasses, there was an identical story floating around the internet for awhile except the subject was glasses instead of shoes. It would be difficult to determine which one was robbed from the other. Maybe the same person wrote both.

I hope it's okay that I post even though I'm a woman... I was shocked that you all wear and like the style of women's general shoes other than heels! I love heels and they are all I own. By absolute necessity I have a pair of old, old Converse for gym class and jogging but not to wear any other time. I did not realize they could be likeable other than wearing them because that is "the type of shoe women ought to wear," but there must be if you guys are and you also have the good taste to love heels. What do you find that you like in women's shoes? Do you ever find it anoying that shoemakers like to tack a bow on to any women's shoes rather than actually build design elements?
I wear them because they fit me better and are about half the weight of equivalent men's shoes.
I don't do bows.

I have worn women's flat casuals all the time for about 20 years. SAS is my favorite brand. My work boots are in women's sizes also. I have never had a comment on it.

I have a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT-VR4, Pearlescent white. It only has 50K miles on it. Anyone else have a just-for-fun car?
See my post of 15th July 2010, 12:16 .
