  1. Irony... over a decade later I am myself LAK amputee now, as is my biological daughter and adopted daughter!  All three of us exclusively a single oxford pump.

  2. I have some designer Mary Jane stilettos that run small... I thought I did the EU conversion properly but at any rate, they're WAY too snug and I need to have them stretched. I heard about the freezer method - filling Ziploc bag part way with water, and let them sit for 4-5 hours or so. Instead of bags of water, how about ice packs?

    They look like this:

  3. When I was in college, one of my guy friends challenged me to a race (about a city block in length). He wore his cross trainers, and I wore four inch stilettos. I beat him. (I used to run track in high school so that of course helped). I also had my left leg amputated at the knee a few months back, and have just now gotten the high heel with crutches down to an art form. Still, I'm susceptible to embarrassing moments - I had my stiletto oxford heel caught in a crack in the pavement (seriously, those are stiletto magnets) and I came tumbling down. My good trouser sleeve got a big hole in it, and scraped me bad enough that I was bleeding. My other trouser sleeve was just hanging down and survived intact.

  5. I'm not one, but a couple of weeks ago I saw a girl at a coffee shop that I frequent near my work place. She was probably in her late teens, maybe 20, and she was on crutches and missing over half her left leg (her left slack's leg looked to be modified to fit the contours of her stump). She was wearing a super-cute black patent stiletto oxford heel, and I was astonished at how graceful and fluid she looked.

  6. Thankfully, no! I love wearing heels as it makes me feel feminine and pretty, but I like to kick back in sneakers/flip-flops every now and then to let my feet cool down. I was in 4" heels for 35 hours straight once (awake and 90% of the time on my feet), after that experience I knew I coulnd't live in them!
