Where Do You Buy Your Larger Sized Shoes?

I purchased a nice pair of leather slides in US women's 12WW (US men's 10EE) from http://www.womenshoesplus.com. This is the "Honey" model which has a 4 inch wedge heel in that size.

They have other styles, many of which are in wide and double-wide sizes up to US women's 14. Indeed they don't offer very many shoes in "normal" sizes.

The styling tends to be conservative rather than fetishistic. The slides I bought are of very high quality.

Hmmm, I might try a pair in the future. I think I might be able to pull off wearing smaller sized sandals since my toes won't be crammed into a tiny area.

I wish I was a size 10

Lately, I've found several nice pairs of heels at the Parade of Shoes stores here in the midwest (USA). Some of their stores carry up to size 12 womens, and some also have wides. I can occasionally wear 11, especially if wide, but have much better luck with 12's. There is one particular store on the north side that doesn't mind you trying on heels, but it's a fairly busy store, so if you're not ready to be seen by the other women shoppers, you won't feel all the comfortable doing so. Their selections tend to be quite trendy, so in recent weeks they've been getting some nice thin heels, many of 4" or so.

DIVINE SHOES in the UK.

I can recomend this company, I bought a pair of 2.5" heel black patent court shoes from them last year. I go out in these shoes all the time.

The MD Steve Pateman is a real nice guy and very helpful.

Their website is www.loveisdivine.co.uk

I have bought high heels in person before, mainly at Payless. But their shoes are so crappy, and the fact that they very rarely carry size 13 women's heels, I have stopped shopping there for my heels. Now I buy my heels through web sites, my last 2 pairs through sexyhiheels.com. They do free shipping and have sizes up to 14, so that makes me a happy camper.

Black patent, open toed high heels are the best!

Sorry to go off subject but I have wondered why companies in the States Like Fredericks and Payless (Some of there shoes look very nice - but are cheaply made) wont ship outside America to UK etc. Is it because their margins are so fine as in the case with Payless because of their low prices that its uneconomical to ship abroad?

Good question....If you are willing to pay shipping charges why not?

There are also issues with currency, differences in European consumer protection laws, and other regional differences, including the language barrier

To a greater extent I would agree with you Yamyam, however I would say a good 3/4 of shoe retailers I have looked at on the net do indeed sell to overseas buyers. I dont understand how a huge company like Payless and a company with an International reputation like Fredericks would want to restrict their markets unless of course they consider it such a marginal part of their business that they consider it not worth bothering with. I would assume that many companies like Silhouette in the Netherlands,Fuss in Germany, Pierre Silber in USA, Dugan Brothers in US,Classic pumps in US (notice how ive named 3 US companies) are very happy for foreign custom and indeed make it worth their while to ship abroad. You could justify Payless' etc stance I suppose in that they are rather like our own High street shoe stores like Dolcis, Dune, and Ravel who don't ship abroad - at least i dont think so. The reason I brought this up in the first place is that there isnt that many places that do a large range of nice fashionable mainstream styles (non fetish) in this country in large sizes (10+) that are affordable, with the possible exception of Evans, Magnus (Who's site is almost non existant) and a very limited range at Tall n Small (Barratts), so buying them from an ordinary store like Payless is one more place to look. What does anyone else think?

Barney,

Do you have an address or a website location of Evans ?

Robert

Where does everybody who are not lucky enough to be able to wear regular size womens shoes (Size 9 plus) buy their shoes from.

To start the ball rolling:

2 Pairs of 4" Ankle boots from Tall n Small (Sz 10 UK)

1 Pair of 3" Ankle boots Argos Additions (Sz 10 Wide)

5 Pairs of Various Court Shoes 4" & 5" from Hayway Sz10 5" in 11)

1 Pair of 2" Purple Mules from Barratts (sz10)

1 Pair 2.5" Beige Mules from Essence (Evans) (sz10)

1 Pair of 4.5" Vebenni Block Heel Mary Janes (sz10w)

1 Pair 4.5" Laced Court Shoes (The Highest Heel) - Ebay (US sz11)

1 Pair 3" Purple Snake skin mules from Essence (Evans) sz10

1 Pair 3" Block Heeled Boots from Evans sz 9Wide

I have bought all of my shoes / boots mail order and the last 6 pairs were off ebay. One day I will get the nerve to buy them from the shop in person although the only place i know that would have them in my size is Evans - though they are getting very stylish these days, anyone think of any other places that do Sizes in 9/10/11 in the high street?

Evans can be found in the high street of most large towns in the UK. They have a website at www.evans.ltd.uk

I have only bought one pair of court shoes from Evans in size 11 UK extra wide fitting with a 2.5 " wide heel. unfortunatly they were not strong enought for me, the heels keeped coming off and eventuly the spine broke in one of them.

Since then I have only ever seen one of their range of high heel court shoes in size 11 extra wide fitting and when I ordered a pair they replied that they were now out of stock.

Since then I have discovered HayWay shoes at www.haywayshoes.co.uk

This shoe company is outstanding and manufacture high heel shoes for men. The office is run by two lovely ladies called Jacky and Debbie who will move heavan and earth to make sure that you are satisfide, I cant say enought good things about this company, they are just great!

As per the subject line... I have posted quite a while ago about my business with them, so this time I'll shorten it down. They sent me two pairs of heels to try out, while only charging me for one pair, confident that a first time buyer from Sweden would be honest enough to return the pair that did not fit. -I know that Swedes are considered to be quite naive and gullible, but still, they put a lot of faith in me, and also were very helpful in my initial discussions with them via email and on the phone. A business like theirs is something to be proud of!!! The only other shop I can think of worthwhile mentioning is in a small town called Grums situated at the northern shoreline of the lake Vänern in Sweden. This shop apparently has bought shoes without any thought to what may be sold or not for many years. They "shovel out" most of their merchandise every morning into large heaps onto "flea-market" tables. Here you find all sorts of shoes from all "ages". I managed find two pairs of EU44 all leather male shoes (brogues) with 3.5" heels made in Italy. There were more similar pairs, but I bought only one of each color, black and burgundy, that was available. They were sold for 20 about Euro each if my memory does not fail me. Regards, TallSwede

NYC (where I live) has a plethora of course, but if I'm correct, I believe you're posting from the UK...in which case I recall a few smart boutiques on Dean Street in London, and a more fetish oriented shop around the corner from the Waterloo tube station (bought a pair of red patent oxfords 5" and a nurses outfit...very kinky). Someone did post newport-news.com as a site and I've also found smart and sexy (not fetish) styles from victoriassecret.com (many with sz11...that's US of course, is that the correct conversion you were looking for?)

Here are several on-line stores to try. Select Shoes from the departments and they also have a Wide Width category under shoes:

http://www.chadwicks.com/ (Very good prices)

http://www.newport-news.com/ (Also good prices)

Thank you for your information Bootbaby!

Size 11 US = size 42/43 Eur = 8/9 UK

I mentioned that I'm looking for shoes in size 9 1/2 - 10, that's size UK, that's size 44 Eur and since a few weeks I know I have size 12WW US (that's the female size)

Clarkes have a factory clearance shop nearby, so I had a wander round. Strange place where people fill baskets full of shoes in a few minutes. Not very much of interest except for one shelf row of sz UK8 mid-heel ankle boots of various styles. Very little even in a UK9. At least I got a pair of heavy duty male sports sandals ~ nothing worse than running out of sandals in February  . They did have leather stretcher spray in decent large can which I picked up at the check out. They also had a very interesting looking shoe stretching machine for £15 which I must mention in the repairs/mods topic zone. It works on width but not length as far as I can see; must get me one next time. /Ionic ~ [see my potted history in the hello/goodby topic zone]

I bought a pair of black fabric slides from Chadwick's awhile back. Their "wide" is a D which is a bit tight, but still wearable. I wore them in the hospital when I had my surgery last month. These slides have 2 inch bottoms which Kathy is okay with, in fact she rather likes them. She is really against my wearing anything higher in her presence though. She explained that when we go out, she wants a man walking beside her and not her "sister".

keeping the UK shops thread alive: I was leafing through the Argos Additions catalogue and see the main brands represented there are Kit, Raid and Shoebox with a few other bits. If only I had know about Additions before the catalogue is about to be sold off, Argos is only 5mins away. Prices are a bit like Payless in the US, leather uppers ankle boots for either side of 25 GBPs. I've picked up Kit items on eBay and their size 8 does seem to be reasonably generous, at least a real 8 anyway. Are these made specially for Argos or are they generally available? I've not spotted them and would be grateful if anyone knows which high street shops Kit and Raid might be found with an in depth range since these are really promising for my needs. I think Shoebox sizes might come a bit smaller, do others find that? /I

Kays catalogue also do Kit shoes in larger sizes, but I've not seen them anywhere in the High St. I've got a couple of pairs of their boots, both in UK9; one (with a blade heel and a half pointed/half squarish toe) is quite a generous size - closer to a 10, but the other with a much more pointed toe is much smaller, probably because of the width across the toes, even though I personally have quite narrow feet. Thanks Emma, it appears they are a general catalogue brand then. It makes sense for them to be slightly generous so they get fewer returns sent back to them.

The Mother Lode

I believe the following is perhaps the most comprehensive collection of links to truly large sized (size 13 and beyond - some up to size 17) women's heels on the planet:

http://www.dmoz.org/Shopping/Clothing/Footwear/High_Heels/

There you'll find pretty much any style, any size, any heel heighth, and any color that you could possibly want.

You also posted that link in http://www.hhplace.org/hhboard/viewtopic.php?t=2149&highlight=dmoz.org where I replied:

Hmm, many well known sites are missing from that list. Maybe some more should be submitted?

Do bear in mind the submission rules though. They do NOT list affiliate sites, or resellers.

So, Leatherworks would be listed as an original manufacturer, but another site selling primarily leatherworks stuff would not, even if in a different country. Take note of that for anything that you might submit.

That's one of the problems of cross-posting. Continue in this thread, or that one?
