A Different Look

On the Sexy Shoes website, I saw this new offering:

http://www.sexyshoes.com/p-1105-hidden-platform.aspx

A pump with a hidden 1/2 inch platform. Perhaps I need to get out more, but I've never seen anything quite like this before and really don't know what to make of it. Part of me think it's looks interesting while the other half looks somewhat odd. According to the description, this pump also features a 4 1/2 inch heel, but looking at the shoe, it seems to be higher than that. In any event, I'd be interested in your opinions on this shoe. Would you want to buy and wear pumps with hidden platforms?

I really like the look of those, you are right about the heel, it does look much higher than the 4 1/2 inches quoted. I bet that they would be quite comfy too. Heelium

I like the look of the covered/hidden platform. Plus gray is a great color for a shoe and in the past has been hard to find. I first saw this shoe for sale on Ebay about a week ago. So my first question is who the manufacturer is. The listing also stated that the shoe was made of leather, which I couldn't find any mention of in the Sexy Shoe listing. I would definitely buy a pair if they were indeed made of leather.

I like the look, myself, because I think platforms are much easier to walk in anyway, and it makes it blend a little more seamlessly. Nice find indeed, JeffB!

Hey JeffB, isn't that a hidden platform on that last pair of pumps you got from Payless?

Nope. Perhaps it's becuase of the less than sterling quality of the photo I took, but those Payless pumps don't have a hidden platform. Regarding the hidden platform shoes from Sexy Shoes, I honestly don't know if I'd want to invest in pumps like those.

Hi, I vaguely remember a feature on a UK 'News' programme about some shoes like this, about a year ago. A pair were given to a dancer and aerobics instructor, who didn't usually wear heels other than for evening socialising. She wore them all day, even for taking an aerobics class! She said she found them utterly comfortable and would quite happily wear them anywhere, anytime. Sounds as good as they look to me. I'm pretty sure these are what was being talked about. I hope they're available over here..... Best wishes, Tosca

One word describes those shoes: Blech. I detest platforms.

I think it is an interesting look, but they still look like a platform to me. They just seem to be a natural variation on traditional platforms- the next step in evolution. I myself like plats and find them quite comfortable. My only concern is that they might make the wearer's feet look bigger.

Style is built from the ground up!

H, I take your point about the wearer's feet maybe looking bigger HF, but on the other hand, if the wearer already has feet the size of a small country, like me, they may cause things to look better proportioned? I'd like to try them, but as yet I haven't been able to find a UK/European source. Any help with that would be really appreciated... Best wishes, Tosca.

I have noticed some of the models on the high fashion runways have worn this type of platform. The hidden platforms looked alright, but they weren't that impressive. Then I saw a pair like them for sale and decided to buy. Here is a description. A pair of 4-3/4" high spike heeled Mary Jane pumps with 1/2" hidden platforms and round toes. Shortly after I had bought my shoes this particular brand named shoe seem to disappear from the marketplace. I hope they bring them back, because these heels are really comfortable. In reality, I am wearing about 5-1/4" high spike heel and the toe box area with the hidden platform that looks a little thicker.
