Got my Aldo Oxford's today and they do actually fit...

Greetings Jkrenzer :-)

It is nice to hear that they fit. They feel great isnt-it ?

I'm sure you will enjoy wearing them as much as I enjoy wearing mine.

Speaking of which, I think I will wear them tomorrow !

The shoes went on relatively easy so I will wear them. Always tightest just out of the box and these are only just a bit snug so they should break in fine.

I am so glad oxfords are back in style! Enjoy them!

After the thread on stiletto heeled loafer, i finally decided to buy these block heeled loafers from Nine West (old collection). Very confortable but a bit feminine (more than on the picture) mainly because they make very small feet. They fit true to size but I would have appreciated a wide fit, not available. I wondered if I would have the nerves to go out with them. Done today, I just went to a local shopping center to get a new belt and my lunch, after driving twice around the parking ...

Nice choice. I almost bought a pair like that from Nine West last fall. They are decent street heeling shoes, even though the heel is a bit narrow, which could be noticable to some.

OMG! I'm so excited to finally post on here because of a new pair of shoes!!! Pictures below! :) 5 inch heel btw. Purchased from Skyscraper Heels in Chicago, IL.

I'm definitely looking you up when I can get in the area sometime! :)

I knew Chicago had a handful of shoe places, from customs to mainstream. You know of them all, I bet :silly:

I've always looked on the "Oxford" style as being the classic smart shoe of quality even in my early teens, at that time there was no thought about heel height.

Jkrenzer's from Aldo are just neat, a perfect balance there.

I've had a block heeled pair from Clarks (31/2") for some time although not so high I got these this weekend. Yes they are female or at least from that listing at almost 11/2" from New Look.

Perfect for non-heeling days when a little is better than none.

At the till the checkout girl couldn't get the code to work and went of to the guys section to find another, she didn't believe that they were girls!

Well all said and done they look all male to me and would pass for all occasions that demand "formal normality" to those that need not know.

In reality they remind me of the more common height that were mens during the sixties and seventies.

Oh, dear! I respect your taste, Al, but I couldn't disagree with you more. :) I loathe (men's) Oxford or brogue style lace-ups and would never willingly wear them. I'm horrified when I see them on a woman, with or without a heel.

I suppose a woman's lace-up shoe with a 3 - 4" tapered block heel and a semi-pointed toe can look quite smart but it always conjours up frumpy 'austerity' memories of the early 1950s, when nurses, teachers and other restrained ladies (and Quentin Crisp) used to wear them. What a breath of fresh air when stilettos came in!

Funnily enough, I do like loafers - a man's shoe often given a stylish twist (and heel) for women and easily 'borrowed back' by we blokes for discreet wearing - I just wish I had some in UK11!

I think the New Look shoes you bought are brogues rather than Oxfords; the latter have a plain rounded toecap and no punched detailing.

Interesting! The manlyness of a loafer combines with femalness of a stilletto. If that makes any sense.

It does make sense indeed. I like your description !

On the English website, these shoes are in the "Oxford & loafer" section.

But on the French website, they are under "Male-Female" section. ("Masculin-Féminin" in French)

Interesting to see the webmaster did not use the same meaning in English and French !

I must agree with you on your assessment of the Oxford and brogue styles for women, and for some reason I have also become fond of the heeled loafer look. Can't explain that, as back in the 90's when chunky heels were all the rage, loafer styles were quite common, and I didn't like them at that time. But now, even with chunkier heels, I do find them attractive. But a lace up Oxford or brogue, I just don't like, especially on a woman.

I just picked these up at DSW over the weekend. Black suede 4" with platform. Zigisoho. They were 75% off. I love these heels. I even ordered rubber replacements tips to quiet them down. I will let everyone know how that works out. the tip is 12mm on these, my red patent pair is 9mm. i ordered a 9mm set as well. I have gone all weekend wearing my simple heels, and i even ventured to wear my stacked oxford heels to work. I'm not sure if anyone has caught on yet, but it's great. Knee high stockings and heels is the way to go. I also started trying on heels out at lunch. I have started to care less about what people think, and more what i like.

My latest purchase.

I could not resist when I saw them on display ... :)

Nice shoes! They look businesslike yet elegant on a woman and would obviously appeal to many of our male members too. Rather too feminine for me to contemplate for street-heeling but ideal if they had a thicker stacked heel and no platform ... :)

I went to Zappo's outlet store Saturday and found the Nine West "Kobel" at 70% off so here is a link to my new purchase,

http://www.ninewest.com/Kobel/7653134,default,pd.html?variantSizeClass=&variantColor=BROWNCR&cgid=2915395&prefn1=catalog-id&prefv1=ninewest-catalog

They run true to size and easy to walk in with the platform. My purchase was black leather in size 11.

I also like the "businesslike" look.

Platform shoes are not normally my prefered style but these I like very much.

They are also more comfortable to wear than they appear.

Never saw high heels loafer shoes without platform yet.

I agree they would also look nice.

Love the style. Enjoy wearing them out maybe?????:)

Did not have a chance to wear them out yet.

But I intend to wear them to work soon before weather gets too cold !

All

First saw these a while ago and shortly after saw a woman in a pair in the street; I don't think the picture does them many favours but think they look better in the flesh but at £70 couldn't justify them

Happened to do a search on the Office website earlier in the week only to discover they were now down to £20; then saw the same woman in them on Tuesday; well serendipity of course, especially as I find myself out of a burgeoning relationship, I bought a pair to console myself.

Will post pictures once they've arrived.

Possibly along with a pair of the Zara platforms that Bladerunner picked up; http://www.hhplace.org/everybody/20601-zara_come_up_trumps.html

My preference is something like this, but then if we were all the same there wouldn't be so many styles available.

Those non-platform loafers are almost exactly what I had in mind as a good shoe for discreet street-heeling! I have a similar pair (slightly lower 2.75" heel) from Evans in a UK10E which are too tight for me; details and pic here: http://www.hhplace.org/shoe_repair_modifications/8979-more_stretching_needed.html I wish I could get some in UK11/Eu45! (These unworn shoes are for sale; please PM me if interested).

These arrived today. Sorry for the lousy pics, but it is getting ready to storm and I had to hurry. Both pairs are Fergie (coincidence) and the wedges hardly feel like they have a heel at all - VERY comfortable. The others are just sexy! I have a pair of GORGEOUS boots on order - be here next week. I'll post pics then (hopefully taken by someone else).........

ALL,

Have checked my favorite Bakers store several times the past month and a half for new shoes in size 11 and have come up empty-handed. You can certainly special order but I insist upon trying on everything on-site. Had previously bought the "RUBY" platform sandal in the brown, burnt sienna, and gold back in June and returned to get the last pair in black and silver. The heel is 5.8' and the platform is 1.4" with a definite 1970's-inspired style to it. This was a Bakers shoe that fit me fairly well in size10 which is probably why I came back to it and at a discounted price. This shoe looks amazing with your favorite pair of bootcut jeans!

As promised

Photos of them on my feet; I think you'll agree they look better with a pair of feet in them.

They're a little on the tight side as although listed as UK8, they are stamped eu41 rather than a more comfortable eu42 but nothing a few hours in the shoe stretchers couldn't resolve.
