They have a 4" rubber heel. Apparantly thats good cause they won't make any noise & therefore not attract teacher attention! Looking at the New Look website they come in a 9. Am tempted but not sure.

Great Boots...look forward to seeing them at the next Toronto Heel Meet!

Being winter, I just had to get some boots!:silly:

The Brian Atwood -Baretta boots were purchased in black suede, but the picture is too dark, so here they are in brown. They have a 28" shaft, 5.5" heel with a .75" hidden platform. My Christmas present to myself.

Just purchased Sunday, Aldo - Dain boots. They are just OTK and have a 4.5" heel (sz36)

Not my purchase this time! My 13 year old bought these:

http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/boots/heeled-sport-boot_212208501

She announced that she is going to wear them to school on Monday... We'll see if she comes home with them on or in her bag!

Well the chunky heel and probably no-slip material will help. The 4" height, that's probably a disadvantage.

Ignoring the child aspect, rather seeing this as a heel wearer attempting to wear a pair with a height perhaps out of their comfort zone, curious to hear how it goes.

Hi All!

As expected I went shopping on Monday, a federal holiday, and the stores were pretty empty! Got this first pair at DSW in Chicago (Clark and Belmont store) which is a nice cumfy pair of wedges sandals in taupe. Great with all kinds of jeans and more.

The second pair is an edgy (sexy as hell) pair of 6.2" wedges which I got at Bakers at the Woodfield Mall store which I had never visited before but the downtown store is closed for renovations. They are definitely a wow shoe and thecoolest wedge I have ever seen from Bakers.

Peek and opine if you like.

HappyinHeels:wavey:

JEALOUS! I was eye-ing those wedges from Bakers. I just need to head to the Mall and try them on in person

Nonetheless, nice gain for you :silly:

just uploaded pics of my new ankle boots which are a European style, maybe more like a tramping boot. very comfortable to wear and I often walk 3 klomters at a time. having a block heel, makes them more acceptable for mens wear and style is less feminine. having a 4" heel is just the right height for me so normally wear them between 3 and 12 hours every day

She has done ok & is being sensible about not wearing them everyday. She claims to have been fine walking in them. Her regular school wear over winter months (since Sept.) has been a pair of boots with a 2" wedge:

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s130/topgeardog/DSC04004.jpg

Its very subtle. Those mixed in with regular flats gives it some variation. I think the 'trainer' style is fine for a teen of her age. If it were a more adult or suggestive style then indeed things may be viewed differently.

Your daughter sounds sensible enough, plasmaboy! I can't think where she gets that from??

The shoes and boots she is wearing to school are not very elegant or feminine - which, as you say, is probably just as well. But does she like or wear other footwear in a 'more adult or suggestive style', e.g. stilettos? If so, do you encourage, tolerate or discourage her? (I am curious as I only have 5 sons/stepsons, so no idea how one relates to or 'manages' a teenage daughter.)

Hey there everyone!

I bought this shoe last year at DSW in pewter but this year they have brought it back in nude so I HAD to go after it. Classic and sexy styling says it all!

http://www.dsw.com/shoe/zigi+soho+staple+pump?prodId=206513&category=cat20006

It is just like the "VICTORIA" that Bakers was selling, very similiar bottom and a 5.6" stiletto heel but $20m cheaper and available in size 11!!!! I think that is an advantage that DSW has over Bakers even though I do like the styles Bakers has and the personal service from the staff.

HHDude-

You had better get over to the nearest Bakers and try on some heels-you don;t know what you're missing!

Mmmmmm, very classy and elegant lines, I could spend all afternoon in the store trying on all the colours over and over and over... and wanting them all!

I'm never quite sure about the totally round O-shaped heel (as opposed to the more conventional flat-front U-shaped heel) but on this shoe the heel is just slightly thicker and it looks really good.

It took me a little while to warm to the fashion for platforms too, but now I find that the way the underneath of the sole curves up away from the ground towards the toe kind of propels you forward when you walk, and almost recreates that amazing teetering feeling when you stood up in your first heels.

If you like it, wear it.

Against my better judgement (About buying in my home town) I went for a wander today and got myself a pair of lace up ankle boots from new look. They were £24.99 yesterday... today £12 in the sale - Bargain

You have all the luck there. I can afford the 12 on a sale but to pay more foe pstage is not fair. SIGH

She is eldest of three. Her younger sister & her have same size feet so lots of shoe swapping goes on. The heels they have between them are all 'functional' rather than sexy in my opnion. The trends seem to be for military & cowboy esq rather than spikes at thier age. Below are some of the others they wear:

Pictures are a bit random - depends where the best light is in the house. And of course they have Converse/Nike/Addidassort of thing & various other flats that get equally worn.

Thanks, plasmaboy. Quite a nice collection of rather masculine styles there! I expect you wish you could borrow them for street-heeling!

Please don't take offense, as I know from the pictures here that many of you quite enjoy platforms, but for me, my comment is, when the hell is this trend going to end!!!???. If I never saw another platform shoe, I would be a much happier person. I just can't get past the fact that they look like the shoe worn by a teacher of mine many year ago that had one leg shorter than the other. I guess it just makes me think of someone with a club foot. Of course, the platform trend will probably be replaced with nothing but flats! That would serve me right then, wouldn't it? LOL

Unfortunately this is a likely scenario. It happened before. Heels were all the rage throughout the eighties when girls wore very high heels often with significant platforms. This was followed by a long period of flats. Not only were heels nowhere to be seen the stores held a very limited stock so it was very difficult to buy a decent pair. If you were to wear them out you were the only one to do so. I found it a very depressing and I hope the flat trend never returns.

What I like now is the diversity - there are flats/heels, platforms/non-platforms, round/pointy toes, stilettos/wedges, etc. I may only like 10% of what's in the store, but someone else will like a different 10% - it's nice to have the choice, and long may it continue. I really didn't like platforms at first, or round-toes, but the last pair of shoes I bought were round-toe platforms and I'm loving them. I think I'd buy shoes much less often if the stores just stumbled from one fashion clone to the next without giving styles a chance to evolve.

If you like it, wear it.

Happy to finally contribute to this thread! .........I'm going to share my story with the forum because as other large-footed people (men and women alike) will know it is the best feeling when you find beautiful shoes that actually fit!! On Saturdays, from October through to March (Australian spring/summer) I usually spend my afternoons playing cricket. Last Saturday was the final round of the season and I have played all but one game and I get dropped from the team. I was very angry with this but with everything there is silver lining.... Instead of going to support my teammates (like I did in the other game I missed), I decided to go shopping with my sisters and my mum. I am lucky to have a family who is completely cool with me wearing heels, tights etc... The first place we stopped at was a shoe store so naturally I took a look around (at the guy's stuff and the girl's) but there was nothing there for me... my younger sister picked up some heels she liked but they didn't have her size (she has good taste in shoes!) and my older sister bought some kitten-heel slingbacks (she has - in my opinion - poor taste in shoes). Anyways... so we moved on to some other shops and then after spending an hour in a department store, my younger sister and I saw a clearance 'prop' store of the first shoe shop we were in and took a look around.... I picked up a heel that looked quite big and tried to find the size as my sister has size 10 (AUS) feet. I looked at the bottom and nothing, then inside the shoe and was completely shocked when I saw the number 12 inside a little circle!! I showed my sister (with some 'silent excitement') and she told me to try them on in the corner and she would cover me.. I waited until some other customers had moved away and quickly slipped off my shoe and slid my foot in. I tapped my sister's shoulder (who was pretending to look at some boots) and said quietly "They fit, I'm getting them".... there was smiles all round  I quickly looked at the guy's shoes there and tried one pair on but it was too big (I know my women's size but not my men's!!) and they didn't have the size down so I went to the counter where my sister was talking to the shop assistant (who assumed the heels were for her) and she bought the shoes (though I paid for them still). Best shopping trip EVER! I didn't even know this brand stocked size 12 but apparently they have a few styles that do. It was such a surprise that only come about because I was dropped from cricket. I am now the proud owner of a pair of Corelli 3.5 inch (9cm) nude court heels :silly: They were reduced to $30 (on clearance, I don't know the original price but that's pretty good) and there was a further 30% off so they cost $21 :-? There's no 'high heel' thrill as I don't consider 9cm's to be high and I have some 13cm heels (no platform) but I absolutely adore them nonetheless! Unfortunately I can't find any pics of them on the net. I might take some pics and post them on the forum.

I just bought a pair of Candies Shauna pumps. Says 4 3/4 heel but in my size ten more like 5 inch or more. Great heel and great comfort. Picked them up at kohls on sale. I was going to get them weeks ago but saw a great patent red pair of Guess Briana heels. Should have stayed away as Guess never fits me right but they are always so sexy! Now I have great heels that fit (again). Wonder if I will ever learn to stay with a brand that fits! Slave to good looking heels I guess (no pun intended).

That´s high heel enough for me!

Any higher than 9cm is becoming uncomfortable for me, although I have up to 13cm heels. Maybe I need to practice more.

Congratulations on your shopping trip - looking forward to seeing the pics.
