My sister always had high heels in her closet and my mother hung her heels "IN" my closet. I tried my mom's heels on one day and have been hooked ever since. When I out grew my mom's heels I started wearing my sisters heels. Then I started wearing my mom's hose with her heels - yum. I can't imagine how much I have spent on high heels during my lifetime. I have over 400 pairs now and buy more every week. I am 56 now and will always wear high heels. What started all the other guys?? Loafer style shoes with 2" to 4" heels. Wedge heel boots and shoes and, ocasionally, stiletto heel pumps and boots to restaurants after dark. I have several different styles from Ann Kline, Anne Taylor, Bandolino, Mootsie Tootsie, Nine West, as well as some other brands that fulfill my idea of what is acceptable for a man to wear in public and what I am most comfortable wearing in public. The shoes in my avatar are LSB pumps (size 8½ UK) with 7" heels. I don't wear them in public. Only at home because they are really difficult to walk very far while wearing them. I had to move from a spacious spot to a tight one in a car traveling with another person moving, and I couldn't afford storage. That will change Friday, though... I have some shoes arriving to me. Pictures will be forthcoming. As for my aunt knowing, I'm not sure if she knew. If she did, she definitely didn't care (I've been meaning to talk to her about this, just because I want to know). When I outgrew her shoes (she was a size 6 1/2 or 7), the next-closest female relative that didn't mind -- my grandma -- wore a size 11 or 12. So I went without for a few years. I didn't know they were for girls at the time, and showed them to my mom. She said "those are for GIRLS - take 'em off!". I remembered how nice they felt, and tried finding them in charity shops and wherever for years afterwards-sneaking a try on whenever I could. After I moved out, I did shop at Payless once in a while until I grew out of the 12 mediums they had. Now that I've been out on my own a while, I order a lot more, and can shop at Payless again since they go up to 13W. I'm on a roll now, and have no intention of slowing down! You can smell that rich leather smell as soon as you open the box. I love the look of the heel and the 1st time you slide that nylon covered heel into the sexy shoe. yummmmmmm I have purchased 6 new pair in the past week from Shoe Carnival! I can clearly remember two events at the end of the fifties that made a profound impression. First was an advertisment for nylons in a ladies magazine, that my mother used to read. The page-sized photograph showed knee down a ladie in gold-brown stilletto heels, stockings and a knee lenght skirt. I wish I had rescued that photo. Second: shortly after that I watched my neighbour boy friend wearing his mothers heels, classic pumps, medium hight heel, pointy toe. I had no opportunity to ask him if I could wear them. It was not until 1979 that I bought my first pair of fitting heels. Size 42 1/2, black suede, peep toe slingback, 4.5 inch heel. Then circumstances on my work changed: I got some guarding duties, that gave me lots of heeling opportunities without being watched. Good times, alas it ended in 1990. Up to this day I wear stockings, garters and heels all day (the heels when home). All of my gf knew my "favour" but no one had any problems. How come? Her daughter who was 4 going on 37 had to try them on to and so not to be left out.... Graduate footwear designer able to advise and assist on modification and shoe making projects. I am waiting on my 16th pair to arrive shortly! Mine range from subtle dressy knee-high to fetish thigh high... Sadly my mother's sister's shoes were always too small so it was not until I went to college that I owned my first pair (six inch ankle strap). Then as I "matured" it went onto "everyday" wear. My wife supportive, provided I'm reasonable - if on any day she says no to a higher heel I wear a lower one. I do not own any male shoes now! Histiletto Posted September 29, 2007 Share Posted September 29, 2007 I have always wanted to wear pumps, whether they were the half inch heeled black patent Mary Janes (My first at 3 yrs. old), the 3" high spike heeled white patent w/ pointed toes (My first purchased from my own earnings at 13), or the 4" stiletto heeled black patent w/ A-line designed vamp & pointed toes (My favorite purchase at 14). I have since owned so many various heights and styles of pumps to numerous to count. Some I wore until they were no longer worth wearing, but a lot of them went the way of trying to conform with society's expectations and resisting my desires to wear them. However, I couldn't get rid of this desire. I knew I wanted to wear high heeled pumps more than even some of the girls I associated with wanted to wear them. Her shoes were a bit thight, even back then and my feet started growing out of them soon. I cannot tell what exactly made me do this, all I can tell is that I was (and still am) facinated by womens legs. At school back in the early 1980's a lot of the girls wore short denim skirts with low heel pumps and strappy sandals. Just to look at them I deliberatly let things drop under the desk so I could bend down and admire their legs and shoes for a moment. I wanted to have this feeling of it,too. I was playing outside barefoot and I ran through a sandspur patch.... Several of them got stuck, broken off, and infected in the bottoms of my feet... It took a trip to the Doc to have the remaining thorns removed... I do remember walking around on my tip-toes for years after that.. I also remember my mom saying not walk like that.. And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is where I believe it started... Even today, I rarely go barefoot, even around the house on the carpet... Boots and pumps... and lace ups... This was when I first got hooked... I then pushed the thought aside till I got around 20... it took me so long to accept my affinity to those stuff... The boots had bock heels of 4.5 or 5 inches. When I was young my mum seemed to wear these boots alot. The heel wasabout 4" and they where the pull on type. I really loved them and I asked my sister if I could have them. I would wear them when I took the dog for a walk in the street in the early evening, so I didn't attracked some noisy neighbours asking what a young boy was doing on the road with high heels on. And also for my friends, they where already inside. Once a friend walked up to me, I had very long trousers on with those wide legs..... It was quite exciting, he didn't notice, only that I was taller then usual but he blamed the streetlights and when I told him I was wearing a pair of high heels, he didn't believe me. About a year later my father discovered the boots in my closed together with my small collection of high heeled shoes and sandals out the charity shop and he threw them all in the bin. He was angry with me and my mum had a word with him. He actually never appoligised for thrawing my shoes away, but he seemed to understand after he had a chat with my mum. I was very angree with him specially when I discovered that healso chucked my favourite boots away. I really loved thes ones and hope to find some simillar boots again. Meanwhile 30 years later, i have again a small collection of shoes, boots and sandals and wear them as much aspossible. Sometimes I go for a walk in them with the dog. Shopping.....
