hhplace.org LOGO

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

As you know, hhplace.org is about to turn 5. Pretty soon, we'll be graduating from pre-school and going into kindergarden.

I figured it would be nice to have some kind of diploma, or certificate to honor that transition and reasoned a LOGO would be a great way to do it.

So, perhaps we can share our ideas for an hhplace.org logo here. I don't mean to imply that we will vote for which logo to use, or how a LOGO will be chosen....I'll leave to the democratic government of the Mods and Admin.

In my mind, I want to create -- and will try my best to draw -- something with some Pavlov Power, something with some marketing power. Remember Ivan Pavlov? He fed hungry dogs steaks and rang a bell everytime the dogs started to salivate. Pretty soon, all Pavlov had to do was ring a bell and that alone (absent the steak) would cause the dogs to salivate.

The same can be done with humans, so I figured a logo with some sort of optical illusion would be neat:

Posted Image

In this illusion, you see and old woman or a young woman. What if I (or someone more artisically capable) could draw an illusion where it was either a man or a woman in high heels? Predictably, most people will start by seeing one or the other, but not both. But upon opening their mind to something new, they could see a man in heels too (salivate). Once they can accept that they can see things from two opposing points of view, it creates a basis for understanding tolerance of Fashion Freestylers and builds towards the acceptance our community seeks. Soon, the logo in it of itself could theoretically generate an open-mind. Ahh, I must pull my head out of the clouds again...

Any ideas are welcome though!

Hi Kneehighs Great thread and a great idea... We would love to see some sort of Logo being designed and who better to come up with it than the members themselves... Personally, those 2 you have shown do seem a little old fashion and not so obvious as to what they are, but I know we all have to start somewhere right? IMHO, I think something vibrant, sharp and fresh would be really good, something that not only looks cool but is easy on the eyes and unique at the same time so as to be recognisable if it was seen elsewhere... I could also then probably blend it into the icons used around the site here in a subtle way to carry that logo recognition through the entire site?

Here is my 2 cents. What I like to see is a group of people in a black and white silhouettes shades with not to much detail representing male and female in heels of many stiles, ethnic groups single, coupples ect. I am thinking with one foot forward of each person in heels in detail. Some kind of NYC back ground, representing actually reality public display web sight, not a TV, TG, or porn thing. Some dressy and elegant, some average every day clothing. This logo should represent and invite both genders to the board with the hhplace.org under the footwear. I think it needs to encourage average people so it can't be two flashy in clothing more every day.

Hoverfly - that works for me. Another advantage is that it could (ideally) be drawn as monochrome layers in some suitable vector drawing package, making it easily scaled to any given pixmap size without pixellation and aliasing problems. In turn, that would help the crisp look that I think Admin is after. Unfortunately, none of this alters the fact that I'm about as handy an artist as is my cat, so actually *drawing* the stuff is a problem. If I could find some silhouettes, I could probably trace outlines however... hmmm...

I've now left HHPlace. Feel free to use the means listed in my profile if you wish to contact me.

I believe we have a number of talented members in the arts that we can call upon willing to volunteer their time on this board logo.

Any chance you feel like contacting them and asking them to join in?

Sure......If I remembered who were they, :irked: but to start any one who has shown their computer graphic arts stuff here would be a good starting point, and also posting a help wanted add. Any additional info of talented members from others would help as well. But for those who are reading this are there any volunteers?:rocker: Lets give this post another 24 hours first as this is a new thread started with in the last day.

But this can be a start........

Are there any talented computer graphic artist willing to spend some time on a new HHPLACE.ORG logo!!?

How is that for a start?

gary0618 has already told me in person about a silhouette idea he had for a logo.

I also mentioned the idea to HighHeelArt a few weeks ago via Private Message.

I could also then probably blend it into the icons used around the site here in a subtle way to carry that logo recognition through the entire site?

That would be great. It would activate the conditioning, the Pavlovian Power mentioned earlier.

hoverfly What an excellent idea to emphasize the "melting pot" inherent in hhplace.

I did not realize how close to the Holidays we are, it's best to hold on this until after New Year's, no wonder why things to seem to be so busy.

I did not realize how close to the Holidays we are . . .

I know the feeling. I seem to have been in a "time warp" most of the year, about a month behind everything.

As far as a logo, I'm interested in seeing what comes of this. I am about as artistic as an industrial draftsman (as in not at all) so I won't be much help here. The idea of gender-nonspecific heeling certainly fits the site.

Have a happy time!

Kneehighs' idea of a logo is great idea. First of all we have to know what the max. size for the logo can be to be suitable for the site. Assuming that it is the size of an avatar or most likely needs to be smaller than the avatar then there is not much space to display any thing elaborate in it and still being able to identify what it is.

The first idea that goes is a group of people and being still be able to identify in that group a male and female shape and on top of it being able to see if they wear heels or not (the heels will not be noticeable at all).

The same problem will be with the idea that kneehighs has about a logo that can be identified on one side as a female shape and on the other as a male. Even if we come up with such an optical illusion you will not be able to see that either are wearing heels, which would miss the main premise of the logo.

At the moment my best suggestion would be a logo of an exaggerated high heel design in a green color to go with the overall color sceme of the web site. How ever that would not imply anything about the fact that some men wear heels either. But since the forum does not appear to be gender specific, except of the fact that most posts are in the guys section, it might work.

Maybe a design of 2 high heels, one being identified as the male version together with the obvious female one would do the trick. But how to identify the male high heel? Any suggestions?

I think something like 250px wide by 85px high should be the maximum dimensions.

Flexible with the width but try not to go over the 85 pixel height

ok all, heres a first attempt / rough draft.... See what you think.

This is also very easy to convert into icons around the website and even avatars for website staff too... I know its a little bigger than the 85px high but hopefully shouldnt throw things out at the top of the page

Cool. I think the yin/yang is too cliche though.

Obviously we can replace this with anything but I didnt want to go straight for the obvious of something like a stiletto as that is very feminine, yet a cowboy boot is the opposite so I was trying to go for something that doesnt sway towards any specific gender yet offers balance and understanding?

As this is The High Heel Place, I think the logo should just show a pair of high heel shoes incorporated into some sort of art work. I don't think it should feature a person of ether gender

Probably even smaller than this

Any concerns or suggestions?

Hmmm, this isnt so much a logo, as its just a picture and will look really odd as it has a background that doesnt blend into the white background?

It would just sit there as a picture rather than appearing as a logo and would be a nightmare to try and incorporate into anything else on the website such as the icons on the forum pages

Just a though... but thanks though.. nice one:fine:

So we are not dealing with a human factor?

How about this picture as a logo? Just imagine it much smaller.

The Male sign is attached to the shadow of the shoe in the background, suggesting that men wear heels too.

Looks to much an indication of a fetish sight to me........ :rocker: Needs to be more every day wear.

Well here is the same picture made to blend in with the colors. Slight color changes can be done easily if desired.

This is nice but I am inclined to agree with hoverfly, it does scream "FETISH" and doesnt say anything about hhplace?

Its also still a picture and doesnt come across as a logo...

Like if BT just had a picture of a telephone instead of a logo..

I quite like BT's old logo of the trumpeter...

Just my opinion of course :rocker:
