chris100575 Posted November 24, 2006 Share Posted November 24, 2006 Hi After a couple of months of resisting the temptation to buy these I gave in at the start of the week, and they arrived today! I don't know how many years I've been after a pair of black suede knee boots, but it's a long time and I could never find any that would zip up over my calf. This season Duo came to the rescue with these. I bought the same pair in black leather last year, and when I saw the suede ones I knew I had to have them. Came as a nice surprise when I woke up though! Heelium: I have considered a pilgrimage to Duo myself, what are they like with guys trying on the boots? If you get stuck, Divine do a 4.5" black suede knee boot up to a size UK13. They're £89.99, and in a UK 8 the calf measurement is about 39cm. There's also a laced version which I bought a couple of years back, and of course the fit is adjustable with those. They are unlined though if that matters to you. They should still look good in years to come, fingers crossed. I just need to prise myself out of them at some point to have metal heel tips fitted. Texboots Posted November 27, 2006 Share Posted November 27, 2006 I'm a huge fan of suede boots and shoes. I have boots in a dozen colors of suede. I think there is something about the texture of suede that makes them more sensual, I guess. Not sure what it is, but I've felt that way since Chelsea boots were made in suede back in the day (Beatles, Dave Clark Five, etc.). Cheers--- Dawn HH Hi Dawn, great to have you back and posting! Pretty much all of mine are leather so suede makes a nice change, plus I agree with Texboots about the texture. I only buy genuine suede, but you do need to be more careful with it than normal leather. That's three pairs I've got from Duo now. Chris Absolutely no problem, I told the sales assistant outright that they were for me, she was very accomodating (as well as being stunningly pretty), bringing me 6 or 7 pairs out for me to try, alas only one pair fitted perfectly on the foot, but for whatever reason the shape was not flattering, they looked like a couple of sawn off baguettes. They kindly recommended me to another shop in Bath that specialises in large sized shoes & boots, my experience in that particular shop was like nothing I have ever experienced in my 20+ years of buying heels, the shop concerned (which I wont mention publicly because I havent yet decided on whether to take this matter up with the owners) operated a downright sexist policy, stating that they "dont serve men":furious:, and were very shifty about me even looking around-only recuctantly letting me as the shop was empty-you dont want to go there anyway, very much in the big shoes = low frumpy shoes market. It'll take about three hours, but sounds like it might be worth it. Plus you never know quite how the boots will look / fit until you get into them. I would be sorely tempted to damage my credit card if they brought me a few pairs to try on though! The other shop, apart from being bigots, sound like idiots. If they're going to specialise in large-sized shoes of course they're going to get men trying to shop there. They should take a leaf out of Evans' book, their policy is that everyone is a customer regardless of gender. I've bought a couple of pairs of shoes from there, and both times the assistants not only asked if I'd like to try them on, but suggested other pairs that I might like. Chris If you've never been to Bath before I would definately make a day trip of it, it's a stunning town, a close second to York IMHO.
