Cardiff heelmeet 14-1-06

Skimming through the member list, I noticed about 18 from the area within 25m of Newport city. Would any one like a local meet, in or not in thier heels? Big rich, caron, jaqui, heel-d, & nigel are all locals to the area. Of course anyone would be welcome, but intended an exploritary meet possibly leading to full meets latter. Reply to this thread and maybe we can organise something local and convienient to the majority.

Don't forget me (Heelfan) and my daughter Melanie (Peachy Shoe Shop selling everything up to 7" heels) both of Bristol! I attend virtually all of the Heel-Meets, and Melanie when she is free. We are planning a UK Heel-Meet here at Peachy Shoes around February 2006 (with buffet meal included), but whether you wish to wait for that, or whether you organise something additional and separate in South Wales, we would be interested either way. Cheers, Heelfan

thanks for reply's so far. no I haven't forgotten Brizul & SW, of course your welcome, as I would probably be over there.TheSE wales meet is intended as a cheap intro, with a view to more organized meets and group visits to more distant meets. Basically a "lets see who's up for what" idea's swop. Just think it might be a way to build members confidence and get more content onto the forum.

Ah! Heelfan you ol' dog you, been wondering where you were. Yes, I think the Peachy meet will be over subscribed, dont worry. Hope you are well, see the builders are still in at your place! should not be too long now. As for the SE Wales meet, it might be worth thinking what folk want from this and if you think Newport is up for this kind of invation. some of the shy folk might not be up for a strut around town in heels and some of the other members might be worried about a more private meet. I guess we will have to see what the other members want to get out of it. Nigel

Hallo Heelfan, the idea of a heel meeting can be fun for a lot of members. The more the better even for the shy people. Can you tell more about your how the idea's get developing and were/what town you mention in the south-east. For the people of aboard the UK (Europa) gets a idea and perhaps get over for a weekend or longer stay. When I remember rightly the south-east has a mild climat and good be nice (weather) in the spring. Perhaps with some more advertisment on here more members get intresting of getting a real life dating in stead of behind the computer to show of there heel loving. keep on going in heels A3

I'd be up for a meet in South Wales and/or Bristol. Would have to be on the weekend, or if in South Wales, on a weekend I am down in that area preferably. (Me and my other half alternate weekends between each others place - long distance relationship). If it's Bristol, coming from Oxford or South East Wales shouldn't be a problem either way. :D I've heeled in Abergavenny and Newport and I've had no negative reactions.

As it is getting late in the year, and most replies favour weekends, Sat 24 or Sat31 are the only dates left for2005. How about a January sales outing instead?. I might also suggest Cardiff has more to offer than Newport, but don't actually mind where we go.

To a3: Hi! We must point out that the area proposed is South-East Wales (not South-East England) which would be a longer journey for European visitors. To Loriette: Previous Heel-Meets doing the bargain shoes in the January sales have been fairly popular. Late January seems a good idea for an initial informal get-together, although numbers would be greater in the Spring and early summer when members are more disposedf to travel larger distances. Although Nigel said January seems to early because of the sales crowds, any later than that would miss the best shoe bargains and defeat that particular object. Saturdays have always best days for a good attendance. We have found an assembly time of 10.30 - 11 is about right, usually at a coffee shop or similar before moving-off for shoe shopping, lunching, socialising etc. I hope you can soon post a date for us all to aim at. Cheers, Heelfan

thanks for the tips heelfan. Provisional date January 17 (Sat) 10.30am venue Cardiff. Can anyone recomend a meet point that allows for car users,[ car park by "Toys-r-us"?], train/bus users, possibly around Hayes/David morgans area?. I only go to Cardiff a couple of times a year, so am not that familiar with resteraunts or cafe`s as I only tend to spend an hour or so shopping.

Hallo, when there is a date please put it on here. Who ever want to get there to the meeting perhaps someone can make some copy of the town and point out the place from where we start and a kind of program. Perhaps on personal e-mail send back this picture after annausment who is coming. It would be nice to meet other people in there favorit high heels. I try to get a long weekend free of work and stay over in a commedation or..... and enjoy the meting and the weekend as a small holyday. Please try to get a date and we sees who is able to come. Thanks sofar and go in high heels, A3

Might not be too bad flying into Cardiff Airport.

Yes Bristol Airport wouldn't be too bad for our Peachy Shoes Meet (when we announce the date) - a fifteen munute taxi ride. However, for the Cardiff Meet, it is well over an hour's drive from Cardiff, and much longer again by public transport. I think Cardiff airport is the only reasonable option for air travellers to Cardiff. Alternatively, any overseas visitors to London can get the train from Paddington to Cardiff (2 hours +) or the coach from Victoria Station or Heathrow Airport (3 Hours +). Cheers, Heelfan

Hi Loriette! With respect, perhaps meeting in a car park is not ideal a)because we might be wandering around a large area failing to find each other, B) because it might be tipping down with rain and c) we'd all have quite a trek to the shoe shops etc. Can I suggest meeting in Starbucks Coffee House, 46-48 Queen Street, Cardiff, Wales, CF10 2BG ? Queen Street is one of the main streets in Cardiff's central shopping area. It runs due East from the South-East corner of Cardiff Castle and isn't far from such car parks as the ones around the City Hall and City Art Gallery etc. We could assemble there between 10.30 and 11am, enjoying a coffee as we wait for everyone to arrive, and then we'd be on the doorstep for moving off and shoe-browsing, lunching and socialising. What do you think? Cheers, Heelfan

Hi,

Before you make to many plans I would wait and see how many members confirm that they will be attending, it is a long way for you to travel to be in cardiff on your own.

I am not too sure if I can go, I will have to wait until I get back to work to find out what I am doing that weekend.

Please reply here if you are going to attend this meet so that A3 can make some travel arrangements.

Nigel.

Take that as read Xaphod.

I'll also be there

Calv.

Also Cardiff hotels for A3 :

There are several privately owned small hotels in Cathedral Road in Cardiff. I spent a summer working down there and always stopped in the Penrhys Hotel in Cathedral Road and would recommend it. Its about a 10 minute walk from the centre and has parking.

http://www.penrhyshotel.com

Looked at their website and looks like rooms are £35 per night including Breakfast. There are also many chain hotels. Just checked Travelodge and it is showing £50 per night exc Breakfast.

Do your own thing. Don't be a victim of conformity.

There is a bed is available for my in Cardiff. An only missing link what I don't know jet how to come from Bristol airport to a trainstadion in the centre, I suppose a bus connection is available, or perhaps some other member in this area can help.
