How to use fashionable pictures to advance Freestyle Fashion -- Internally and externally. Internally through the development of our own unique fashion tastes. Whether you still experiment with different styles or have already found that special style you call your own. Externally, through outstanding public displays of your own unique fashion perfection.

Internally, the purpose of this thread is provide a pictorial journal for members to choose styles from that they would like to try for themselves. Styles of men in heels! Take what you like and need, leave the rest. Get to know yourself better, what you like, what suits your body type, and what you don't like. The goal is to help you find a basic look thats stylish and that incorporates high heels into the overall picture. Then once you feel comfortable, share a picture of yourself. It might inspire others and more importantly it might inspire others to street heel with style.

Maybe you can find some inspirations for your basic wardrobe. Then you can just buy more of the same thing that adds to your basic style. When looking for clothes, think of how you will wear it with what you already have in your closet too...if you can come up with at least 3 different outfits for something new, then in my humble opinion, buy it. If members stick with this process, their own individual expressions of fashion will begin to uniquely mature.

Externally, from this refinement, our tastes in fashion will improve, with the end result being the best possible examples of men appearing as men in heels that one can give. Thus giving Freestyle Fashion a better chance of being tolerated by mainstream culture.

One of the newer members at The Fashion Spot.com summed up the process of attaining fashion maturity as follows:

Early on in my teenage years I really had no clue about what looked good on me, what quality was, or which trends I should follow. Now that I am early 20's, I know exactly what I want and what looks good on me. I used to look at what my friends were wearing, and because of my lack of confidence I would take my fashion cues from other people. Then I hit a point in my life and I thought, " Wait a minute.... I am a unique, beautiful woman, who has traveled to 23 countries and has so many different cultural influences. Why

should I follow everyone else?". And that was it... I started to dress exactly how I wanted to dress... and now buying the perfect pieces is so easy because I know that if I don't fall in love with it right away, its not for me.

If that piece doesn't strike me as original or captivating... then I put back on the rack. I think one of the biggest lessons to learn with how you dress is to not be so self conscious if you don't look like everyone else around you;

and to draw from your experiences in life to reflect through your style. Or, what I do is I imagine myself in a different time or place and what kind of persona I want to portray and how I can do that with subtlety in my wardrobe. I want little hints of the various dimensions of my person to show through how I dress. I am not sure if this makes sense to anyone else.... but I hope this helps someone out a bit.

Most of all, lets remember that fashion should be fun and its not really a math equation. We have enough structure and equations in our social culture already. Have fun with it.. Its ok to wear heels and experiment with different heel types because it means your are evolving and growing!!!!! Remember, we are individuals, not defined by what's going on around us but defined by whats going on within our own heads and hearts.

So let your hearts sing, let your inner creative genius out, and lets see the best possible fashion ensembles you can come up with.

I also thought this thread would be useful because I am always looking for pics of guys in heels, but they seem to get buried somewhere in the mazes of thousands upon thousands of past posts for which its difficult to find the time to sort through them all. Now, we can have a central repository, possibly the single largest collection of pictures of men in heels the world over.

I'll start by sharing pictures of our member Jim from New Zealand. He is the one that inspired me, so here goes:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/creditech/NewZealand2.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/creditech/NewZealand.jpg

I also found board member FashionableFun's photo inspiring as well:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/creditech/California.gif

And then there is me:

BCBG Wool Military Jacket, Bandolino Knee High Boots, Seven Jeans

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/creditech/militaryjacket005.jpg

Bloomingdales waffle textured blazer, white sail Amsterdam tshirt layered beneath a black silk 3/4 sleeve top, New York Dark Seven jeans, Black N Nine West pumps.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/creditech/meatpackingdistrict.jpg

Armani asymmetrical sweater with metal buttons, oxford shirt untucked and sticking out on half of underside only, New York Rinse Seven jeans, Black Nine West pumps.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/creditech/NYC%20Heel%20Meet%203/nycheelmeet039.jpg

Same outfit as above but with Ralph Lauren knee high boots.

Super casual: Black Zara t-shirt, New York Dark Seven jeans, Bandolino croco print pumps:

Personally, I go for a somewhat andro style, choosing clothes that can look good on either a woman or a man. Its with caution that I use the term "andro" as I don't want the term to go before the "style".

Here are some pics of other members who have achieved what are in my opinion, good fashion statements. To me its apparent that they took the time to think through the clothes that they wore. They made sure their clothes collaborate well with their shoes, forming a whole image, as opposed to an isolated fashion statement.

Thanks for your contribution Heel-D!

Kneehighs:-) A well co-ordinated group of pics of the board members that illustrates that men can look stunning in heels just as well as the gals can if the outfits match the shoes or boots. Thanks for your efforts in gleaning these pics for our visual enjoyment. Cheers--- Dawn HH

Kneehighs:-) I like the looks in your pics of your outfits. They are very well co-ordinated with your stiletto heeled shoes and boots. With the way the laws are now written in New York State, I guess that you would not receive any comments on such outfits. Cheers--- Dawn HH

Kneehighs, I like the outfits. You certainly look like you are very comfortable wearing them! :D

Let me know what you think of this outfit....

I wore this out in Brighton last August. It was the outfit I wore in the evening. I certainly enjoyed wearing it and would wear it again in the future. I thought it was very simple yet had a nice smart/casual style to it!

Will post more pics soon.

EDIT: Am I wrong in thinking that the second pic is a bit too "feminine"?

Heel-D thanks for the compliments on my pics. As far as the pic of you in the mary janes being too feminine? I don't think so. I know society may judge our shoes otherwise, but I don't think our masculinity or femininity is controlled or caused by the shoes that we wear. I like to think that nothing in the world has meaning until we ascribe meaning to it. So for me, my masculinity comes from the inside out, not from the outside in. Even if I am wearing pumps.

Okay, here are some new outfits I plan on using. Please remember I haven't studied the finer arts of lighting, photography, modeling, posing, and facial gesturing.

Kneehighs:-) All of your outfits seem to be well co-ordinated for you. I'm not so sure about your shirts being half in and half out. For you, that may work. Personally, I would prefer to have my shirt either fully out or fully in. Cheers--- Dawn HH

Thanks Dawn. They look okay to me. Its def what I'll wear for myself. These pics weren't really intended for publicly proclaiming our cause. I was just playing around with some new clothes, thats all. I'm sure with some block heels, theyd look okay for public use. As far as half the shirt untucked, thats a new "thing" they were talking about on The Fashion Spot.com. So, I played with the idea a bit. Happy Holidays

Kneehighs:-) The stilettos look good on you with those outfts and you wear them well. More power to you on that point. In MHO, you also look good in the block heels with those outfits. When I see the block heels, something inside of me says, "Now, there is a well dressed man who exludes much confidence in himself and the way he dresses". It's satisfying and masculine and it says, "I'm comfortable with the way I look and I can go anywhere and do anything at any time this way". A great look for street-heeling. Cheers--- Dawn HH

I like the details on the pants. The pockets and zippers and the little pieces of black set in contrast to the rest of the pant color.

Anton!!! Wooohooo a new member to hhplace introducing himself with flying colors! Love it! Thanks for investing the time to post your pic. Love the outfit and hope to see more of your posts on hhplace.org! There are only a handful of Latin American posters here. Flavio, kennard, and DeSalto from Brazil frequently post, but most other Latin American's are pretty silent. Glad to have you on board!
