Question

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a serious question. I joined this site due to fond memories and just to hang out a bit. I didn't come here to sell shoes or heels. I actually dislike it myself when someone joins a group and just uses it as advertising space. Its kind of rude I guess. BUT.....I like to look through all the forums here and all the posts when I have time. I look in the wanted and selling forums, I collect certain styles myself.

I saw someone asking where to buy heels in a size 14, my first thought was "gee I could help you out", my next thought was "isn't that tacky if I use this site to advertise myself in that way?" I guess I could have just said "wow bobandangie.com has great shoes" and not said that I was angie but.....it still seemed a little like...uhm....you know?

I guess I really shouldn't care what anyone would think but for some strange reason I just don't want to be thought of as tacky and rude and if posting a message that offers a business transaction would instill that impression then I would prefer to keep this forum completely for myself personally and not involve the business venue at all.

Any opinions???????

Angie

adverising that you have wares for sale isn't classed as tacky as you are a member of the forum who is also sharing their experiences of heels and life. if you were one of those "come on, advertise and then disappear", then it would be a slightly different matter if you genuinely have something for sale that is not redirected to a website dedicated to sales only, then there is no harm in advertising the items. Either do this in the relevant section for wanted or in the For Sale sections and everyone is happy. personally, I hate it when someone comes in and then blatantly advertises in the wrong section. Make your blood boil that they have not even had the decency to take the time to post correctly. No, I see nothing wrong in you advertising as long as it refers directly to a question or it is placed in the For Sale section :D so advertise away However, misuse of the section can be detrimental.

Angie, Too add to what Francis said, it also appears that even though you of course would be making some money, you are also trying to help fellow members with sizes/styles. That is far different that an someone just advertising their store here. To be honest, personally I don't mind someone trying to advertise or sell their shoes here, we all try to find and share good places to buy shoes. The ones that annoy me are the ones selling porn or sexual enhancements drugs, etc. That are the ones that come across as just spamers. On that note, if you happen to have some wedge heels or boots in a size 11, please PM me. I would definitely be interested. Scotty

Personally I would welcome someone offering to sell me a style or size I was having trouble finding elsewhere even if they were a business.

Hi, I think that most of us here know what you do for a living, I also like the fact that there is no hard sell and that you join in on the forum. I think that you should be careful how you attract new business but in this case you are doing nothing other than anybody else here would do, help another member. I am sure you will act accordingly and help this member out and I am sure every post wont be covered in 'buy from me' banners. besides, I am sure you will find other members recomending your heels if the situation deserved it. Thanks for joining in our fun, Nigel
