The Adventures of kneehighs...

Another amazing evening out in the Meatpacking District tonight....

I first started up a conversation with this girl from England of all places. (the picture really doesn't do her beauty justice). She was wearing some sexy stilettos with black skinny jeans. Whats interesting is that she had a boyfriend all the way from New Zealand. Anyhow, when I showed her my stilettos, she told me a story about her boyfriend bought a pair of flat, but pointy shoes from Lane Bryant (or some similar store). The bottom line is that when he wore his shoes out in New Zealand, someone made a rude comment about his shoes looking "girly" and so he never wore them again. Her opinion of my stilettos was positive. She said that in places outside of London and NYC, everyone pretty much looks the same insofar as the trends are more readily followed. So when someone does something to buck the trend, she likes it--including stilettos. I even told her that I was visiting London in March and going to Torture Garden....when I told her it was a "fetish" party and how I wanted to do something really mind blowing, we got to talking about what outfit I would wear. She emphasized that I should wear my stilettos, which no doubt I will. English girls are sooo cool....love every inch of em :rocker:

Later on that evening, I started up a conversation with a cute blonde wearing some gold stilettos with some awesome buckles across the vamp. When she saw my stilettos, she showed her friends. One was a guy. Turns out he was a fourth year med student and very open to my footwear choices. He said, "well, I'm gay so I should be open minded about other peoples choices. THEY ARE JUST SHOES AFTER ALL." Another one of her friends reacted with a "WOW! I've never seen a guy in stilettos who is not in drag. Obviously you are not in drag." Eventually I asked her if she would date a guy who wore stilettos to which she replied, "No" Then I asked, "but you would be friends with him right?" and she emphatically answered, "yes". It just illustrates that there are different levels of acceptance already lying dormant. This girl would not date a guy who wore stilettos, but another girl mentioned later, would definitely date a guy who wore stilettos.

Of course I had to make my way around the place a bit and converse with many ladies too numerous to mention in one post. But here is a nice shot. And another. Words can't explain how liberating and amazing it feels when you enjoy the company of beautiful females and you are both wearing the same type of stilettos. Absolutely amazing!!!

Eventually I wound up talking with this girl. We got our pictures taken together by her friends. After conversing with her for a few minutes about mainstream things, I sequenced into asking her if she would date a guy who wore stilettos. Her answer was something along the lines, "Yes I would. If someone wouldn't date someone over something so insignificant like shoes, then they've got issues" That was encouraging. I think she really meant it too. When her friend did a second picture just of our shoes, she said, "we match" and she encouraged me "to wear whatever makes you feel fabulous".

Overall it was a great night. There are more details that I've left out ..It was another fun night of watching for girls "primping", twirling their hair while talking to me, circling the rim of their glass while talking , and just flirting.

Wow! Kneehighs, you continue to impress me with your outings. Your exploits certainly make for great reading while you show the world that guys wearing heels can present a positive image. More power to you, my friend!

Kneehighs, Great story and experience again. It's really good for all of us to read your stories I believe. Sounds like you had a great night and a lot of fun. Another liberating experience! We all should follow, so we would be able to write down our experiences too! Looking forward to hear about your next experiences.

I actually had a date tonight with a girl that I did not mention in the above post. She suggested that we meet at the Hawaiian Tropic Zone, a new restaurant bar/grill in Times Square. While I understand that Times Square may be fascinating for a tourist....for a local New Yorker, there is no other place that I avoid more. It just does not attract the type of crowd that I feel comfortable assimilating with. If you lived in NYC for the last 6 years, you might feel the same way too.

Anyhow, I arrived ahead of schedule and beheld the following view:

And I also saw this:

As soon as my date arrived, we were escorted to our table. This place was NOT going to suffice. I knew from the moment that I walked in the door, it was NOT what I wanted.

Within minutes, we were discussing a new place to go to. I suggested TAO on East 58th and Park Avenue, to which we agreed. Soon, we were in a yellow cab headed for TAO.

And I was wearing my black Nine West stiletto pumps the whole time.

She said nothing about them. In fact, she was sending out clusters of flirtation signals despite my pumps. And on a first date, women notice e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. She kept primping her hair and looking me in the eye while we were talking, she kept "innocently" touching my knee, my leg, my arm...she kept a perfect upright "breast thrust" posture the entire time....she rested her knee high boot on the couch right on my hand...the chemistry was flowing--even while I was in my favorite Nine West 4" Black stiletto pumps.

I really think that if you can hold your own (Attire+Attitude=Assimilation) the heels are really nothing but another piece of normal "guys" clothing. Tonight I wore: Seven For All Mankind boot cut strech jeans, Mango sport jacket, Calvin Klein wrinkled oxford shirt, celtic necklace, celtic cross necklace, wrist bracelet, Nine West pumps, and military jacket. Only about 1 inch of the skin on my foot showed between the vamp of the shoe and the hem of my jeans. As well I had a military coat I bought in London. So I had the attire part taken care of. The Attitude or personality part...well, for me that was the easy part. She was wearinng knee high stiletto boots and had them crossed into the vamp of my exposed foot for almost the whole time. :rocker:

Soon we found a seat in the lounge at TAO. WOW. For a Sunday night, this place was B-U-S-Y. It was very crowded:

We ordered our Spicy Tuna rolls, Sashimi, and wasabi. Before we knew it, we decided to call it a night, but not without me explicitly drawing attention to my stiletto pumps.

Her reaction?

"Are you gay??" She acted like there was something wrong with me.

"No, not at all!"

"I am not even looking at your shoes. I am noticing this package (she made a gesture with both hands outlining my torso)"...Then she went on to talk about the things she liked about me....

The only problem is she wants to go out with me on New Years Eve (this would surely be a really good time); however, I am already booked for New Years Eve. Sigh....

Whether this pans out into any second dates in stilettos, I really don't know. It would be nice, but its not necessary. Its just a date and just getting to know someone.

Ultimately, I had so much fun on the first date, that while it would be a bonus if we go out again, it doesn't really matter.

Kneehighs:-) Boy---you sure sound like me and my adventures with dating girls when I was much younger. I usually had a date several times each week and had a lot of fun doing it for many years, except I wasn't wearing heels during those dates. We went everywhere and did everything. Then I met my sole-mate Mickey and then the fun REALLY began and I haven't regretted a minute of it ever since. I just had to marry THAT gal. I really do enjoy reading of your adventures and checking out the pics. Cudos, my friend. Cheers--- Dawn HH

Pun intended, of course.

Glad you have enjoyed many years of a happy marriage to Mickey and hope that as time progresses, you find your marriage getting even stronger. :rocker:

It would be nice if I could date several times a week, but alas, I don't have the time (I work about 70+ hours a week) nor the energy to do so.

Kneehighs: I'm sure you must get bored with getting compliments from folks like me, but your outings never fail to leave me absolutely amazed. Not only do you mingle with the most interesting people, women find you attractive, probably because you're daring enough to wear pumps and have the shoes be just part of your overall look which draws interest from others. I seriously doubt I could ever do anything like that, such a thing would require actually going out at night, and I'm no night owl by any stretch of the imagination, so I kinda live vicariously through you and your adventures. More power to you, my friend!

Last night I went to the West Village and had dinner with a group of friends at Alfama on the corner of Hudson and Perry. After that, I took some pictures I thought you might like:

Very nice pics there, kneehighs, especially #1! What kind of camera did you use as those outdoor night shots turned out quite well? Inquiring minds wanna know!

Thanks Jeff...

I used a Fujifilm FinePix E900 to take the pics. No flash was used as I had it set on its nightime flash setting.

After a super intense week of work and virtual absence from hhplace, I found myself unwinding in Manhattan's Meatpacking District Saturday Night. A near 10% raise and another one due in April was certain cause for celebration.

And celebrate I did!

Here is a view of what the club looked like early during the evening:

Posted Image

I talked to many girls, more than my weary fingers can recount here. There are a FEW pictures that I caught for my hhplace cronies. This girl was wearing BCBG shoes and I was wearing my Nine West pumps.

HERE is a view of just one of many different ladies I passed during the evening.

Eventually I wound up talking with this girl who said she loved size 11 and gave me many hugs. HERE is the standard shoe comparison test. Obviously, my shoes were pointier than hers. When a girl would intitially "gasp" in awe at first sight of my stilettos, my usual response this evening was, "And I can do the cobblestones really well too! In fact, I can run them. I'll race you when we leave here!" That usually drew a laugh.

EAST VILLAGE FASHION BOUTIQUE OWNER LIKES MY STILETTOS!

Posted Image

One of the coolest things about living in NYC is the way you can just go up to total strangers and start talking to them. Often, this is a way of meeting a new lady and getting her phone number if not just closing a date on the spot. While this was not my goal with the above beauty, I couldn't help but take a few pics of her awesome personal style.

She looked over at me when the flash went off and immediately gave me a cute and playful disapproving smile. Soon, we found ourself in a great conversation. I swear, had I made myself available, this FASHION BOUTIQUE owner may have found her "palms getting sweaty and tingly feelings flowing throughout her body." [EDIT: subtle reference to another post in the forum]

The real reason meeting this girl was the highlight of my evening is because she is a professional in the fashion industry. She owns her own shop in the East Village (think 12-15K month in rent) and she offered me her opinion of men in heels.

Her first reaction to my stilettos was, "Thats so cool." In fact, she said that a few times.

Then I asked her, "what do you think of men wearing heels as a fashion statement?"

"well, I have alot of gay friends and they wear heels all the time...are you gay or straight?"

"straight! So does it work?"

"It depends on the man...pause..there are different types of gay men...so it depends on his personality"

HERE WE GO AGAIN!

Attitude + Attire = Assimilation

Straight from the fashion elite of Manhattan. The attitude is the part of the equation not factored in at the mainstream fashion forums. I would love to meet leading fashionistas in person. I can almost say with certainty they would "approve" more in person than through the internet.

For people more readily approve of the REALITY of a man in heels than they do to the IDEA of a man in heels.

HERE is another picture of her.

Another awesome outing kneehighs. The only thing I have to ask is did you call her out on connecting men in heels with being gay? As it read even after you pointed out you were straight she still made the comment, "there are different types of gay men" I mean really, what does that have to do with guys in heels? What you put on your feet has no baring on what sex you're attracted to! Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

As usual, a highly entertaining account of your adventures, kneehighs. As for the lady with the "heels equals gay" comment, it sounds like she subscribes to the same old narrowminded, misinformed viewpoint that everyone else does. It is annoying, highly annoying how people equate sexual orientation with footwear. I mean, no one equates a woman wearing combat boots as a fashion statement as being a butch lesbian, so why don't men who wear heels get the same benefit of the doubt? Most preplexing, not to mention frustrating. Still, I enjoyed reading about your latest exploits!

To be frank, I didn't feel the need to call her out on that, because to me there was nothing to call her out on. Perhaps I am wrong though.

She accepted that I was straight, but was making a point that there are really different types of personalities among the men that she knows that wear heels, who just coincidentally all happen to be gay. And their personalities are the key factor beyond their sexual orientation that make their heel wearing fashionable to her.

So despite being gay, some of her friends still didn't pull it off.

Her emphasis wasn't that men who wear heels must be gay, but that even though all the men who wear heels that she knows are gay, some of them don't pull it off because their personalities don't complement the look.

Hey kneehighs!!! Has anyone else made the connection to this attractive woman and our lovely Gina? (Wouldn't that be a "kick in the head" if it were and you missed it.)

Hi Bubba136 :wink:I think you are the first one to make a connection between that girl and Gina. I know I didn't at the time, but I sure do now!

Heel-D, his girlfriend, and I met today at the Bryant Park Promenade for some amazing people watching. Here are some pics to entertain yourselves with:

This girl just looked absolutely fantastic. It's refreshing how open these "fashionistas" are to getting their picture taken.

This guy looked pretty cool but looked even cooler when I realized he was wearing a moderate 2" heel.

High Heel Heaven on Earth...these models all came into the Promenade at one time. drool.

Barbara Walters

FOX news broadcasters even looked good. This lady had some nice pumps on. Here's a panaroma of what the scene looked like today.

We saw this guy sitting on a stoop in the Meatpacking District with his pants tucked into his boots. Later on in the day when we left, we went into Marc Jacobs. While Heel-D was busy trying on a shirt, one of the female store assistants came up to me and asked, "excuse me, where did you buy your boots from?" "Nine West!" "Oh really! I love them. Thank You"

One thing that is interesting about Fashion Week is how close you can get to the celebrities. They really just mingle among the crowd. Heel-D should have a video uploaded for us where I interview Robert Verdi, host of the The Fashion Police tv show that airs on E. Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to plan my questions and I was a bit nervous when I first approached him.

We talked about men in heels! Not good feedback mind you, but feedback that really should come as no surprise to any of us here. Men in heels will probably never be a major fashion trend.

After this sloppy questioning of Robert Verdi, who was very friendly the whole time, I am firmly convinced that if we achieve acceptace, it will be on an individual person-by-person basis, not as a collective whole.

Here is Carine Roitfeld, editor of French Vogue. I must have spent five minutes standing right next to her without realizing who she was. For awhile, we were just standing next to each other. Had I known who she was, I might have stirred up some conversation.

Agree. I think on a one to one level the uniqueness of our outfits will win over individuals' acceptance.
