sscotty727 Posted November 20, 2005 Share Posted November 20, 2005 Don't rememer if we ever asked this before, but since we have alot of new people as well as the long timers, just wondered, how often do you wear heels? Even though what I wear isn't classified as that high or "exciting", I do wear heels 100% of the time. Even have a pair of 3" heeled wedges that I wear around the house as slippers. I pretty much don't even have any male flats anymore (well, 1 pair of tennis shoes and 1 pair of dress shoes that I don't wear at all). I might add that i have found an inexpensive means of raising my hieght, I stand on the paved ramp to the garden. Iv'e done some maths and found it to equal 30mm or 1 1/4". So far, I can only stand or walk down [ properly] to a combined max of 130mm. Danielinheels Posted November 20, 2005 Share Posted November 20, 2005 back when things were normal, i was good for wearing heels out and about two times a week - usually a saturday and a slow weekday. you could typically add on another day or two when including other women's shoes i own, including ballet flats, wedge sandals, etc. all my house shoes were women's, consisting of flip-flops and other sandals i wore when just lounging around. in that sense i wore some kind of women's shoe daily, unless i just didn't go home. now i don't have that option - don't need to document the how's and why's again. Usually I wear the 5" heel (blockier heel) boots but sometimes the 3.5" heeled boots. Have only worn the 3.5" heels out once but plan on doing so again. Basically when I'm either at my girlfriends home town, or out of town somewhere, or in my home town at night (a couple of times). I wish I could wear them more. I guess when I start my new job next month (free dress!) I can push the boat out a little (as a creative media company I'm sure they'd be a lot more accepting or different dress sense). I'll start out with low heeled kneehighs and work my way from there. I won't go to work in stillettos or very high heels. I'll probably mix flats, trainers and low/block heels for now. I could wear my low heeled kneehighs to my current job now as they would be fine with what I would wear normally but someone will be a smartarse and go "they're women's shoes!" or something. They are very descrete and I doubt you would have any problems at all. I work in an office of lots of guys and never had one say a single word about them. It generally works out that I stop at a grocery on the way to work and I wear my thigh boots with 4”-5” heels. Sometimes I also shop on the way home and I get to wear them again. On the weekends, whenever I go out, especially to a museum I’m in my thigh boots with stiletto heels. It’s getting so that people kind of expect me to be wearing them. Weekends are big for me as I wear heels to all sorts of places, usually malls and such. So we're talking about at least six days a week, sometimes, all week long! When socialising I have a pair of 2 1/4 inch Cowboy boots and a pair of 2 inch zip ankle boots recently purchased. My other half is quite accepting of this footwear. As an experiment this week, I have been wearing a pair of ankle boots from NEXT with a 3 1/2 heel at work all this week. the weather getting colder these are nice an snug to wear. No reaction at all. So today I decided to wear the shoes in my avatar (heel is 3 3/4") and apart from one old guy remarking upon my "Winklepickers" (he comes from the rock 'n roll era) no reaction again. So there it goes. 2" is my normal wear with excursions to nearly 4" as I feel like it. I have a pair of 5" thighboots, of course, but they are for my pleasure only. I would also like to ask if you can add how long do you wear them when you do wear them? A few hours, during the work day, while at home, etc? As I said earlier, I don't wear that glamorous a heel, but I almost wear them 24/7 (I do sometimes fall asleep in heels as well). As far as height, probably between 3.5-4.5 (depending on the shoe), but I pumps I drive in are 5" (for about 2 hours each direction). My "after-hours office walks" are considerably short, about half an hour. All my sandals are at least 4" high. K. If the high heel shoe fits, wear it!
