I hear he offers to help out in the shop if Mel pops out for an hour or two! I bet he jumps at the chance :P See you soon in Bristol. Nigel

Mel, First of all I thought I had posted a few days ago but it must have gone somewhere else. What I had said was - absolutely fantastic - well done! Your shop looks fab and so do you in your heels. Do you have experience in the business - or is it an extension of a hobby? Well done for actually wearing the heels - that is a real plus-point. Have you worn any 7-inchers or ballet? It is so refreshing to have a specialised shop where there are actual specialists in it. Particularly in such a shop - as more often that not it is some grubby business man or a old-before-her-time stuck up woman looking down her nose and thinking how weird the customers are. Do you do mega-platforms? Anyway, very best wishes and at least the shop is distinguished looking - if I can get down there one day. GGxxx

Mel Well if was a little closer I`d be down in a shot, however I will try sometime in the near future. Shop looks superb, nice style. The phot of yourself is very sweet, there's a look in your eyes that seems to say ha ha, I`ve done it (both the shop and the progression to the 6 inchers). Well done on all counts and I wish you all the best in the future. Big D PS. Watch the Parquet with those spike heels

I have seen the shop at long last. Very impressed! Ruth came away with two pairs of shoes so she was pleased too!

Hi Dawn! There's nothing Mel would like better than to see Dr Shoe opening his own heely business - the more the merrier! Also, he's London (South-East UK) and we're Bristol (South-West UK) so we'd both have our own catchment areas. Thanks for complimenting Mel on her 6 inchers! I hope Mickey is OK now! Cheers, Heelfan

Heelfan:-) It has been 5 weeks since Mickey fell and broke both bones in her arm and it will be at least 4 more weeks having that fixator screwed into her bones. It was a very bad break and Mickey has osteoperosis and that doesn't help any either. I have suspended my wearing of high heels in public until this is all over. Mickey needs to hang onto me more now than ever to maintain her balance and I want to be as sturdy and surefooted as I can be until this is all over. Cheers--- Dawn HH

Hey everyone! The Peach here. Thankyou all for your support and encouragement. Those 6 inchers are actually turning in to my favourite shoes! In answer to your questions: no I have not tried bally shoes yet as i am still working my way up to seven inches. Coffee mornings would be a great idea, however it may have to be a sunday or a monday morning, as saturdays are my busiest day and I am usually rushed off my feet. So if you could get back to me and I'll post when its going to be. I now have oodles of new stock in! Very exciting. Once I have done the stock take and the rest we must have a heel meet. It would probably be in a couple of weeks so again if you could get back to me with a convenient time for everyone. Anyway I look forward to hearing from you all soon. Peachy x x

Absolutey great. I want to wish you the best. Those 6 inchers you like so much, do you spend the whole day with them, or only when customers ask? that wasn't too clear for me. either way, great accomplishment on both counts!! RPM p.s. glad that mom had more than just great moral impact on you, but also fashion wise. Heelfan must be in heaven already! great job dad for helping in the making of a great entrepreneur!!! My hat is off to the whole of you all!

I'll certainly be interested in attending a coffee morning at the shop (despite my not being a coffee drinker). A Sunday would work for me. I visited the shop the other day and spent a very pleasant hour talking to Peachy and Heelfan, such nice people. I hope you enjoyed going out in your new boots Mel :P

BBLoverEric:-) Hang in there...you will eventually be able to determine what size you will need, keeping in mind that there are variables from brand to brand and sometimes within some brands. It can be a crapshoot at times. Welcome to the Forum. This will all shake out eventually. Cheers--- Dawn HH

  • 3 weeks later...

Hey Peachy, any signs of an online store to come? I would love a store with men's sizing to look at. I have loved heels for years but I can't find the right "first pair" to own.

Yes, hang on in there, The outlay for Peachy must be vast, I have popped in there a couple of times last week, and havd a good chat with Mel, I also caught up with Heelfan, who you will all be glad to know is doing well but very busy with work at the moment.

There will be a website sometime in the future, but a website without shoes and a shoe shop without shoes would not be good so Mel is concentrating on the shoes and the shop for starters.

Well there are some fab shoes there now and even more worth a vist than ever before. It must be the only shoe shop in the area with a pair of pink size 13 6 inch heels in the window.

wow, if only my feet were bigger (there is something you dont hear often on this site)

whilst I was there a chap came in for a pair of heels, Mel put him at ease and he was trying on some pairs as I left, I think he was a little taken back to meet another bloke there!

Nigel.

Hi All! Thanks for the interest! The shop is half-way along an attractive parade of shops in central Bristol (see Firefox's above photos) and the address is:

Melanie Caswell, Peachy Shoes

10 Perry Road (Park Row)

BRISTOL BS1 5BG, UK

Tel (UK): 0117 9077960

(Overseas): 0044 117 9077960

email: peachyshoes@yahoo.co.uk

Mel is building-up three sections for Peachy Shoes:

1. "Ordinary" ladies' fashion shoes (flat to 4.5") in gals' sizes only.

2. Stilettos from 3" to 7" in gals' and guys' sizes (UK 3 to 13).

3. Streetheels for Guys (chunky & semi-chunky heeled shoes & boots) in guys' sizes only.

She has already succeeded in stocking a big display of the first two, but category 3 will take a little longer as these are needing to be especially designed, ordered and made.

Happy heeling everyone! Cheers, Heelfan

Heelfan and Mel:-) It certainly takes time to start a new business from scratch and get it up and running and healthy. It sounds like you and Mel are quite busy at the moment and doing just that. Congrats to the both of you. May Peachy shoes have a long and properous life. Cheers--- Dawn HH

Hi Ionic - stranger! Yes, of course I remember you - in fact I posted a "Where's Ionic?" thread on "Hellos and Goodbyes" sometime after your postingfs petered out in December '04. Great to see you suddenly back posting again with another bundle of enthusiasm! And thanks for taking an interest in my daughter Melanie and her new shop. We'll have a heel-meet here in Bristol in a few months time. Cheers, Heelfan
