HAYWAY OPEN DAY and LEICESTER HEEL-MEET, SAT 12 JUNE 2004:

9.30 TO 10AM Meet in HayWay Shoes' forecourt for introductions. Unit 1. Abbey Court, Corporation Road, Leicester LE4 5PW, UK. Tel: 0116 266 3444. 1PM (OR LATER?) A thunderingly good and convivial Heel-Meeters lunch somewhere.

AFTERNOON Leicester's best shoe places and/or points of interest. Can any Leicesterites advise on the best use of the afternoon?

EVENING Does anyone fancy staying long enough for an evening meal and any social activities?

FIRM: Paul, Francis & Jackie, Calv, Nigel.

  • 3 weeks later...

hi heelfan. have been lookin forward to this day for a while, and as you sugested it, i have sufficed enough warage out of my new boots to wear on the day/ I was planning a temporary usage of my new 5.5in knee boots during the trip as one of our usual changes. However i am still fighting the boss, as he has three other people off at the same time making things awkward as usual, but i am trying my best to convince him i am not needed (not supposed to do that in a job. lol). daz

I'm so sorry folks! Although I've been the keen organiser of this attractive event, I won't be able to attend. My music shop in unexpectedly short-staffed for that forthcoming bust Saturday, and my wife and daughter are relying on me as the only other help. My apologies to Nigel, Ruthy anf Nhoj, to each of whom I was hoping to offer a lift there and back to Bristol. In fact, Nigel appears to have arranged his own transport, and I hope Ruthy and Nhoj can arrange some car-sharing(?). However, I will definitely attend the LONDON HEEL-MEET on Thursday 1st July (the day after we close our shop), and I will soon start plan and host the BRISTOL UK HEEL-MEET around July/August/September 2004 - see under their respective threads. Coming back to Hayway/Leicester, I hope that all of you enjoy a fantastic time on Saturday 12th June, and I'm kicking myself that I can't be with you! Can I suggest that most of you Leicester attenders post your mobile numbers below on this thread, as this has proved invaluable for hooking-up and for latecomers on previous meets. Cheerfully yours, Heelfan

Oh Dear Nhoj! I'm ever so sorry to have had to dip out on this one (I go to just about all of them normally!), and that you're cast adrift. I did hope that you would be able to organise some car-sharing with one of the other Bristol-area attenders - either sendra45 or Ruthy (Paul). Have you tried emailing or PMing either of them? Ruthy says you've been in touch with him, but if you've mislaid his email address please PM me and I'll give it to you. Best of luck! Cheerfully yours, Heelfan

I wont be able to make the early part at least. We're starting the brickwork on some land we're developing so I'm going to be tied up for at least the morning, possibly longer. However, I shall give Francis a ring to see if I can join later.

Well !

The day went great ! Met a few new faces.

Just for the record here's the mugs gallery

left to right; Nigel, Nhoj62, Francis, Dr.Shoe, (I forgot your name, insert please)

picture was taken by Jackie, so if it's out of focus, it's her fault :)

Thanks to all who participated, raspberries to everyone who didn't !

Anyway, we all arrived at Hayway and checked out the bargains. Some of us came away with goodies, some of us didn't.

Dr. Shoe did a great impression of John Travolta with his stunning white outfit. Only kidding John!

A brief bit of shopping followed by some nattering and then we unfortunately said goodbye to Nigel and Nhoj. Nigel's daughter's birthday party was in the afternoon, so his raspberry talents were required :D Nigel knows what I mean :o Nhoj, of course, had to disappear, else it was a long walk back to the Bristol area.

A spot of lunch was needed, so the remaing 4 of us took off in the direction of the city centre to find something edible. We nearly succeeded! Fish and chips, which were welcome if a little overcooked. Afterwards we headed down the road to check out what was on offer at the variouys shoe shops. Dr.Shoe found something to his liking. Faith and Trend offered no interesting items, so we went round the market instead as well as some charity shops.

After a cup of tea we sampled some more of the city centre. We got round to New Look when Jackie had a panic attack, so that was the end for me  I made our excuses to Dr.Shoe and our other friend (you must tell us who you were) and went back to the railway station for our return trip.

Thanks for turning up, guys. We both enjoyed meeting you all.

regards

Francis & Jackie

Thank you Francis for a great report! A great line-up of heel fashions in the perfectly-focussed photograph (well done Jackie!)! It made my doubly envious that I couldn't be with you all. although I did phone you and also Dr. Shoe to wish everyone an enjoyable day. Also Francis, I can fill you in on the mystery member on the right. It is our good friend Si (short for Simon) who has been a regular attender at all of our UK Heel-Meets for the the twelve months, but has only just enrolled on Megaforums as a listed member (Si). Welcome to the High Heel Meeting Place, Si! I would have been interested to know whether the Hayway open day was attended by many other people - maybe some potential future members of these forums(?). Also, did Nigel's wife attend? Lastly, I hope I see the majority (or all!) of you and more besides at next two forthcoming Heel-Meets: LONDON 1st JULY and BRISTOL (DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED) - see on this "Real Life Meetings" thread. You can't beat real live Heel-Meets meeting real live members. Come on all you computer nerds and couch potatoes - let's see you turn out for London and/or Bristol! Cheerfully yours, Heelfan

Onwards and upwards!
