Well I do have attachments that are like a dozen pair of stilettos on each boot. You make few friends wearing them on parquet floors though...

I have worn stiletto heels in the snow (fresh falling snow) on several occasions. I slipped around less than people in gumboots and normal flat shoes ! But I did have to be careful - mind you so did everyone else !

I did get wet toes though but stockings dry out really quickly!

I looked at this Shyheels list and have been all of these places except Antarctica. My father was there at times 1962-1965 when only military and scientists were allowed. He certainly is the travelled one. Probably the most unique places I have been was the Soviet Union in 1979 and Grise Fjord (74 degrees north) in the Canadian High Arctic a year earlier. Of course Beirut in 1983 was an unusual place as well. HinH

Never been to Beirut - again not a place for wearing heels, certainly not in 1983! Out of the way places I have been include Tristan da Cunha, Bougainville, Cameroon, Niger, the Falkland Islands, Taha'a, and St Helena.  Not in heels...

Parts of Beirut were heavily damaged from civil war and after the US Marines were blown up at the airport in late 1983. Well before that though Beirut was very a swank place which some called the Las Vegas of the Middle East.  HinH

I've seen some really cool pictures of Beirut in the 50s and 60s - would have been an amazing place back then.

It's eligible to wear heels, so my twisted brain will turn the question round to: Is there reasons to not wear heels? ;)

Depends on how high a heel.  Yes, there are a lot of high activity situations where it is foolish to be in a 4” stilleto, but I’ve been contemplating pushing the limits.  I haven’t worn a pair of lace up shoes of any type in years.  I am constantly in boots with 2 to 2.25” heels, which most guys consider to be a bit tall for constant wear, but I really like the look and feel.  Yes, I hiked through New Zealand and Yellowstone, round up cattle, and climb ladders in my cuban heel boots.  I wonder if I can push to wearing a 3” cuban heel every day, and through high activity situations.  There are probably reasonable orthopedic arguments for 2” being an ideal height, but am I crazy for wanting to go higher?

yes you can. I reckon definitely n a larger style sturdy style heel, and not too high for your foot flexibility/strength.

But the thing is as you wear higher heels more, I found that they become easier and more normal, a 4 inch heels feels normal to me - like its just a shoe, it doesn't feel special and for that special feeling of a high heel I need to go towards my limits and that is why I enjoy being on my tippy toes in the big guns so to speak. But not for as many hours as a 4 or a 5 inch heel !

I can do everything I need to daily with stiletto heels, the only exceptions would be carrying really bulk or heavy stuff, or working around home in the garden or house maintenance etc and then I know I could do that in a chunkier style heel/boot but I don't wear boots much and only wear a few chunkier block heels, and most importantly I need to wear flat shoes sometimes - so I wear flat shoes around home doing chores etc.

I kind of still am curious to go higher - but my foot is vertical in 5.5 inch heels and a little arched back in 6 inch heels and I can't go further really.

Don't go higher,  your shoes are already perfect. I'm actually envious of most of your styles, I can't seem to find them in the states. You go higher you'll ruin your feet and knees and the proportions will be all off.

I wasn't saying I am deliberately working towards wearing higher heels. For me I just wear what I like the look of and what feels good. If I can't wear them all day I wouldn't be wearing them, and I have evolved to my heels, not rushedinto trying to wear a tall heel. But my arch/ankle ability is infinitely better than it was say 4 years ago, which is way improved on what I had as a flat shoe wearer say a decade + ago. But it a journey and as long as I am comfy I will enjoy my heels.

And yes I think a shoe around 5 inch for me is great shape and looks great and is fine for daily wear. Higher is extreme, and the styles often aren't as elegant.

Reason for wearing heels? Seriously, who needs a reason?? :giggle:

Granted, I have tried to rationalise this in the past. I enjoy the look, the extra height, and the sound, etc, etc...

Anyway, I wear high heels because I bloody well enjoy wearing them!! So there! :giggle:

However, I have noticed that, when it comes to footwear, people fit into two categories, save for those who wear specialised footwear for sport, safety, or physical requirement.

Group 1 - For them, footwear is something that separates their feet from the ground and nothing more. They're the "great unwashed" :giggle:

Group 2 - Those who, irrespective of gender, wear high heels. We're the "enlightened ones"... :cheeky:

I don't have to worry about being caught out in flat shoes cause I never wear them anymore ! !

my legs look better in high heels too.

Well there are people who take a fashionable interest in their footwear and yet do not wear high heels simply because their tastes run along different lines

Have to agree too ! Each to their own.

I like my flats too ! But I hardly ever wear them out - but I do like cute flats!

There are so many choices and styles - that's what's neat about shoes. Even in the 'genre' of shoes I like there are styles I wouldn't wear just because I don't like the colour/shape etc...

there's something for everyone in a shoe store !
