How many times havent I seen a celeb wearing oh such lovely shoes, and wondered who made these heels? Hoping this might be of interest to others,

I am attaching two cases to be analyzed.

The marvellous lady in red, Molly Bernard and my all time favourite, Jessica:

As an old and retired botanist I use nomenclature daily :-)

Eg: Whats the nomenclature of beech tre mate??

As a Norwegian, I wouldnt have a clue what Beech tree is in the first place - some kind of spruce?

Then you say Nothofagus fusca --- ahhh a Fuscospora fusca oh yes that one a tawhai raunui  a red beech!

If you still dont follow, take a hike in a nearby forest, most of it is indeed that one....

Oh yeh, brings back memories from varsity...

Now if I'm approximately correct (although no such thing as approximately correct - its right or wrong)

Silver beech =  Nothofagus solandri var cliffortoidies  (excuse my spelling)

Black Beech = Nothofagus solandri solandri

We have lots of beech forest here, much of it still so remote they are deemed 'wilderness areas' with no tracks/huts etc. I love the open sub stories within beech forests, much [refer this to podocarp forests which we also have a few of.

Ahem.

Nomenclature is always binomial!

Such as

Genus-- Fuscospora

Species - fusca

The name of that beech is the Fuscospora fusca (Hook.f.) Heenan & Smissen

--- written in alll glory with the guys who named it :-)

As the photo shows, its a beech with birch sized leaves, and it only grows wild in New Zealand

................ ehhh what about the shoes??

Silly me.

I think I'm remembering now - so Nothofagus is the family for the Beech.

Solandri is the black mountan beech species

I forgot/mixed up the genus part!

As I learnt with all sciences - you never claim to be an expert or offer a firm opinion unless you know what you're on about !

And I still don't know about those shoes - Sorry!
