My Turf

Have been looking around and found that possibly the lets get to know each other comes close but I would like to get together and conspire. Not just that but would like to know where that is that it is not safe to go out of what place is that where heels are so abundant or so popular. So I will say that most of Orange County Calif is heel safe but possibly not in certain ethnic parts of Santa Ana. Something that I would suggest is to think about editing your location to include your city that is unless one wishes to remain more privet and for this cause I only posted as close as my city. Actual meetings I prefer to set up privetly for just now. So more about my turf. Here in Orange County I have received some serious complements on my heels and my skirts. Still it is somewhat rare to see another guy with a skirt or high heels. Have already communicated with two guys near San Francisco for a possible get together. So everyone if you like tell us where your turf is and how heel friendly it is there. Also tell us about other cities that you visit and how heel friendly or how many others do sport high heels.

Also from Orange. I don't wear heels in public except to the nail salon sometimes. I am probably the oldest member here and have lived and worked in the same area for almost 50 years, so am probably recognized even outside of all the people who know me and who would be surprised or shocked. The only people who know are all younger women/girls, and all but one accepts it with no problem, which my wife did. But she was not interested in any meets. I guess I would consider it.

I believe you have mentioned so many times your from Orange County CA ( along with the zip code ) its as if your using it to just say ' Hello ' :wavey: .

Where I have been and what I have observed..

The Good :

Buffalo/Niagara Falls : Nobody really cares what you wear.

Cleveland : Didnt have any problems at all.

Pittsburgh : Lots of Rough Stares, no real confrontations.

Toronto : I ran into a few ' men in heels ' although they were the type that kinda wanted to be women.. they were friendly none the less and even told me of good stores to shop.

NYC : Its ' New York ', all walks of life getting along. Wear whatever you want ( basically ).

Syracuse : Just dull, for a college town, which says a lot! Again, nobody cared what anyone was wearing.

Philly : Had no problems at all.

Scranton PA : Very pleasent ' small town ' feel from the areas I was in visiting friends. They laughed at first, but ' got over it ' really quick.

The Bad :

Montreal: I will say I will NEVER go there for a visit or even to cash a winning lottery ticket. I have never seen such an arrogant, pompus.. Let me just say it was the FIRST time I cancelled a weekend trip. I actually heard that it was a ' good ' and ' open minded ' city. It is if you speak French. I dont wish to defame the ' whole lot ' of them, but I was in several areas shopping and the attitude was all the same.

Detroit : If you go south of 8 mile road.. They dont care whats on your feet. Just make sure your in a fast car! The places I have been north of 13 Mile road ( Dave and Busters Arcade off VanDyke ), Lakeside Mall off Hall Rd. , other stores/shopping areas.. nobody bothered me at all in the northern areas.

Just to hit the thanks button does not say enough for the interesting report from ilikekicks

No need for any ' Thanks ' at all. Its not advice, just some places I have been and where I have gone out wearing what I do.

Mind everyone, I dress ' modern ' and dont wear ' porn star shoes '. What I have on my feet is usually black, white or grey in color, not red/yellow/screaming-to-look-at-me and usually sports a wedge or stiletto heel.

I do NOT wear a platform over a half inch.

I dont try to stand out, but rather fit in with a crowd.

I dont wear skirts, dresses, bras, fake tits..

Im a guy and not trying to be anything else nor do I try to present myself as anything but male. I HAVE ( unfortunately ) *often* been mistaken as a woman. I can understand why and no-longer get mad at people for mistakingly calling me ' miss '. I just move on from it and go about what I do.

I think the places *we* go ( all of us ) .. different areas.. sure, the people there might have a different attitude or feel for what acceptable and whats not. How we present ourselves in those situations can change how those we dont know will feel in our regards.

Im sure if someone whos heavier then me with a military haircut would be viewed a lot different in heels then a slender individual with mid-back hair.

Im sure if I spoke french, Montreal would have been a more pleasant place to visit. I was there to buy something made there! One of THEIR cities companies boots I saw advertised on THIS site! I asked for directions and without even seeing what was on my feet ( I was in a car ) the people there were very unfriendly. It might have been the Maple Leafs jersey I was wearing? Maybe they dont like those of us whom speak english? Customs told me on my way back its NOT uncommon for such to happen.

Needless to say, I ordered the boots off the Web. I really would like to have been wearing them now though.

I plan on going to Wash D.C. later this month. I will also be visiting Morgantown WV, Cincinnati and Columbus OH in March. I get out a lot with the new job. :wavey:

Im finding its not the ' place ' , but more the ' individual ' if we fit in or not. Its not always the appearance, but the presentation.

I have been to your ' neck of the woods ' but it was well before I started wearing heels or dressing as I do. It was 20 years ago. LOVED the scenery and the area itself. The people were great too! I hope its just as good now as it was then. Nothing was greater then being up on BigBear Mountain in the spring!

As Ililekicks has mentioned, Cleveland wasn't a problem, I have often worn tall boots underneath jeans on a smaller motorcycle all he way up and down I-71, with no issues at all. Been shopping in Columbus and been around Cincy often in boots, with little to no issues. Most often when out on the cycle, I'm in the boots in the jpg attachment. I've scuffed them up a bit so I'm not likely to wear anything else at this point Oh, and I wore these and another pair exclusively for 4 days in Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge area with no issues (not even from the wife)

I just moved from Syracuse to Winston-Salem, so far my heeling here has been met with the same as it was in Syracuse, nobody seems to really care. ilikekicks - Syracuse is not really that much of a college town. Between UB and Buff State there more students per capita in Buffalo than Syracuse. SU just happens to be Division I so it attracts more attention due to its sports programs. Outside of campus there are very few students out and about. :wavey:

What ever you do in Salem be careful because as we all know Witches wear high heels.

Wrong Salem! The thing to be careful of in this Salem is Tar Heels.

Being mentally comfortable in your own mind is the key to wearing heels in public.

Would not go to close to a Tar Heel, might end up with a bad case of van aerial disease. Old early seventies joke any radio ham will tell you what a tar heel is.

life is not a rehearsal

Hi Mike,The popular fashions here seem to be wedge sandals and ankle boots with deep treads on the soles,(for fashionable hiking?),at least thats what the retailers seem to be pushing, maybe just to clear stock. The girls wear anything from sexy strappy sandals to knee high boots, depending on the weather conditions,(which are all over place thanks to global warming).

Mike,

I'm in the Midwest and I wear stiletto high heels in public (I think I answered one of your PM's with this information in the past). The various locations that I journey in high heels, I've had compliments and whispers, stares and smiles, shaking of heads and nodding of heads, and no real negative confrontations. I have seen some men wearing higher heeled boots in public, and I've seen a few men wearing higher heeled clogs, but I haven't run into any other men wearing stiletto high heels in public.

As far as meeting up with other heelers, you might keep an eye on the real life meeting section of High Heel Place.

That is great, as for me the stilettos are not an every day occurrence. Today it is back to my 9west while I am working on my spike heel lug sole. Funny thing here is one time I went to lunch with a girl she had some ruffled feathers for a month and when I found out why it was because she thought that I looked better than she did.

(I think I answered one of your PM's with this information in the past). Well that may just be, guess I need to keep track of that stuff.

I'm in the northeast, Maine to be more precise. Where women don't rule the stiletto heels, I do. Sad but true.

Shafted, the boots that is! View my gallery here http://www.hhplace.o...afteds-gallery/ or view my heeling thread here http://www.hhplace.org/topic/3850-new-pair-of-boots-starts-me-serious-street-heeling/ - Pm me if you want fashion advice or just need someone to talk to.

Ilikekicks the next time you are going to be up around the Cleveland area look me up. Would really like to meet up with another fellow heeler.

One of these days we need to Catch up with each other.

Lately, my work schedule is freakin terrible - last two weeks have been 78 hours a week, 12's M-F / 8's weekends - all night long.

There has not been a lot of activity in this subject but there is another great thing that came along that being the member map. While some may wish to remain secret the member map is a good way be able to conspire together. My great wish is to get together with some one that can post on Youtube. My interests are in fashion freedom mostly high heels and skirts.

Interesting little repore but the Subject is Turf so what city is it like that. Part of why I started this subject is to compair like I would have to believe that high heels of any kind are safe in San Fran but I have been told that Johanisburg is not safe.
