For a while now I have been considering the idea of starting a subject of skirt fashions and after trying to use the search function I decided to go ahead with it so then the next thing was exactly where to put it. My first consideration was in the for everyone column but then I figured lets go take a look at the fashion folder and here it is a discussion of skirts starting out with a sweater skirt and a trouser skirt. So in my opinion a trouser skirt is a good model for a guy to start with. Then just a quick detour to say what is a trouser skirt that is a skirt that looks like pants at the top. In my opinion this includes belt loops, pockets like on pants and the zip front. It does not necessarily refer to a converted garment that came out of the factory as trouser. So for a guy to go out sporting a skirt the way I see it there are two ways to go. One being in a more or less non fem way to just be cool and comfortable and this may be something that just looks like baggy shorts from the side. Then the other way is to go for high fashion and this is where the high heels really fit the look. Like in all the pictures that I have posted I make no attempt to pass that is no fake boobs or wigs. As for actual cross dressing with the fake boobs and makeup and wig actually I do that also but that is more work. Anyway what I would like to discuss here is skirt fashions without trying to pass. There are actually some practical reasons for wearing a skirt like the guy that had a persistant rash on his upper legs and the doctor recommended try wearing a skirt and the rash cleared up. However the effect of switching from high heel to flats keeps both front and back lower leg muscles stretched for me. So probably I bug off for now and see if anyone likes to take up this subject.

I had considered a kilt style, but something like one of those utilikilts, that is until I saw the price tags - - nope, not gonna happen. Besides that, I really don't think a heel would be right with a utilikilt. I imagine there might be a couple styles that would work, but it just seems to be a bad mix. I was out shopping at the nearest mall. and as usual, I don't see many women in skirts or heels of any kind. I saw three skirts in an hour and a half, and I believe at least two of those were actual employee's, so for me to even consider the option in public would be an option I don't think I or the general public locally would be able to handle. Even my worn out holy jeans are noticed. Now that I think of it, my holy jeans get more attention than when I have been out in heeled boots. I haven't mixed the two, but maybe I should - - Hmmmmm As for comfort, I can easily see the advantage in the summer. When the wife and girls are gone, I've taken to working around the house in a denim mini when it gets in the upper 90 degree range. Wife isn't well adjusted to the idea, and doesn't want the girls to see. but it does have it's comfort advantages. If I ever did decide to wear a skirt out in public, it would probably be something like the trouser skirt listed by the OP, or something long in a casual style.

That is something that I have considered and my response was to use chunky heel boots with my kilt. My other response to the #250 business was to get four yards of green tartan from a local fabric store. Fortunatly this store specialises in upolstry fabric so I got some heavy duty stuff. My kilt design had a box pleat in back with knife pleats on the side and a pocket that fit into the design. No sewing maching so all done by hand.

Many thanks for your most interesting post which I thought made for good reading. As you know, I've been wearing skirts almost exclusively on my outings for the last couple of months now, and I've been having lots of fun to boot! Since I do most of my jaunts on weekends when people dress down, I've opted mostly, if not mainly for denim skirts which look casual and allow me to blend in with my surroundings, well, blend in as much as a middle aged guy in a skirt can blend in. Heh! I've also grown to enjoy wearing long peasant skirts which satisfies my "inner Bohemian", and they're fun to wear to as I love how it swishes about my ankles when I walk. I've worn all lengths of skirts, from 17 inch minis to near floor length maxis and everything inbetween, and I feel supremely comfortable and at ease in all of them. And feeling comfortable and at ease in skirts helps in my overall demeanor while in public as I pass along that feeling to others I come across. All things considered, wearing skirts has been an absolute thrill!

This past Sunday, I wore my 17 inch Old Navy denim skirt on an outing, and, for a time, I found myself feeling a bit disappointed because that skirt wasn't short enough to suit me. So I've been trolling the Internet to find retailers selling skirts with lengths of 15 inches or shorter. Perhaps the exhibitionist in me wants to show off my legs, or maybe I just want to broaden my horizons in my freestyling. In any event, I'm eager to get my hands on a micro mini and take it out on a future jaunt. To be continued....

Well after all this skirt talk I had to try it also. Bought something like this http://www.c-and-a.com/nl/nl/shop/product.html#!/Dames//Collectie/Rokken/88007/4 Only for in the house though the Mrs is not al to excited about this next step.

You could explain her that actually a skirt is much better for the male parts.

The Scotts know this already for ages.

Y.

Naah she won't fall for that.

Mind you she was with me when I bought it.

She just doesn't like it and is thinking a lot where this will end.

Bought a 15 inch denim miniskirt at Penney's today. When I tried it on back home, I most definitely liked how it looked and how it complimented my legs. Then, on the other end of the spectrum, I also bought a pretty gray maxi skirt at Sears, trying that on at home, it looked good paired with black boots. Once I take both out on the town, I'll report on them.

A while back I picked up a long mermaid skirt from JC Penney's for $25. Most of my skirts are mid-thigh to knee length and I wasn't sure if I would like a long skirt. It has become my go-to choice for comfort! It's the most comfortable thing I own:

The boots were an old score I made at Kohl's about 5 years ago: price printed on the box was $74.88 - they were on the clearance rack next to a sign that said "75% OFF" and had a price sticker that said $15 - size 11, 4" block heel with NO platform and fit very comfortably and I figured $15 was a good price. Got to the checkout and when the cashier scanned them the price came to $3.75 - with tax it was $4.08!!!!!! So I got them for 75% off the $15 marked down price!

I had a knee-length leather skirt that had front pockets a zip at the front and belt loops. This skirt fitted me very well in deed I didn't even to use a belt. With the pockets and the zip this skirt was ideal for a male to wear. Once went to a fetish club and was able to put my wallet in the pockets of the skirt. I throw it in the waste 1 day with a load of other stuff. Silly me. Never been able to find another just like it. I have bought other skirts but it can be a gamble as some can be to large and keep falling down. The last 2 skirts that I have bought have belts, so should fit well.

I'm fortunate in that my skirt size (14) has remained constant. Most of my skirts are denim which I can wear without a belt, but I put one on anyway since it looks nicer, more stylish. At least to me anyway. However, I don't put anything in my pockets, that's what I carry a handbag for.

Sizing seems to be a random exercise - I've got skirts in sizes 8 through 14: if I take a tape measure to them and measure around the waistband, they ALL measure the same size. Hold them up against each other to compare the waist size, and they are all identical. But the size tags are all over the map. That's why it's important to try things on before you buy them!

Have you ever had the case that you saw a girl at the office and liked her skirt so much that you wanted to buy the same one? It's probably also caused by the fact that I do have a serious crush on her, but she has already got a boyfriend. Today a colleague of mine walked in with a tweed (herringbone pattern) mini/mid-length skirt, petrol/cyan / black color. Gosh.. I like this skirt. I didn't ask her what brand it was, but I've never seen it before on her, so I think it's a new one. I've searched the 47 online shops that could carry such a style, but didn't find it. Bummer. Too bad I can't ask her what brand it is, that would make finding it much easier... but which guy would ask a girl about the brand of her skirt... :-(

@Heelster: Ok, inspired by your post I thought about a way how I could bring it up again, telling her of a colleague that was to afraid to ask her directly... (silly story, but it worked). In the end, it was a skirt by H&M - a site which I had searched, but I hadn't searched the "sale" section (picture here). I went to H&M right after work and got the skirt in my size

Been keeping in touch with the seller of the 2 skirts. Have now got one skirt and the other skirt should be with me in the next 2 days. But in the mean time. I'm going to post this with me wearing a leather mini skirt. I think I look good in it.
