2nd ANNUAL North American Annual Heel/Boot Meet

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

April 7-10 (nights of April 7, 8, 9)

Please indicate by completing the poll; or posting on this thread; or PM/email to "iloveboots"; if you are attending "maybe" or "attending"; which nights; and how many in your party. The 1st Annual NA Heel Meet in Chicago had 28 people attend in Feb 2009 out of 55 registered (lots of food etc was wasted) so we need as accurate a count as possible.

MEET INFO:

Downtown (Fremont Rd area)

Fremont Street Experience!

Fremont Street Experience To me Fremont Street was the "old glitter gulch" street...it was so lit up you couldn't tell if it was daytime or nighttime....oh well, today, it's the "Fremont Street Experience". In 1995, Fremont Street was closed to traffic, a huge canopy was constructed over a four-block section as part of a city redevelopment project called the Fremont Street Experience. The canopy towers 90 feet above the street and houses more than 2 million lights.

review from freestyle heeler, comparing experience on the Strip versus Downtown/Fremont.....................

"Salvation is away from the Vegas Strip, in the old downtown illuminated by restored retro neon lights. Two years ago, I had a riotous time at Beauty Bar: 80s dance tracks and manicures, with a hilarious floor show by drag queen Toni. Next door is The Griffin, a dark and gargoyle-y bar with strong drinks and no cover. The Downtown Cocktail Room has a good selection of our beloved absinthe (we had Pernod and Mansinthe). To top it off, we won $15.50 from a slot machine — and screamed so loudly!"

Voted Maybe. I'm in Vegas right now in fact, on business which brings me here often. If I can match work and the Meet I'll be there. If I may, a good resouce for Vegas info is www.cheapovegas.com. Funny yet insightful visitor information.

One thing I've found in my frequent visits to Vegas is the casino hotels do not offer many of the usual perks like in-room coffee, free internet, free exercise facilities, complimentary breakfast, etc. They want you down in the casino spending your money. Read the details carefully. Personally, I prefer the Trump, PH Towers, and MGM Signature because they have those things included and/or have kitchens so I can make my own breakfast after a quick trip to the grocer.

Went out last night for a brief stroll in my Madden 4" heeled boots, down thru the PH Towers elevator lobby and out thru the parking deck onto Harmon Ave, then up the Strip back into the hotel. Didn't get a second look from anyone. I"d expect Fremont St. to be about the same.

Thanks for the effort in putting this together, iloveboots and whoever else is involved.

Just a heads up....I will be away from HHPlace for the next 3 weeks on vacation (no blackberry, no computer/laptop/no cell phone/no radio/no tv/no newspaper - a complete chill out away from the world, we do this every year for 3 weeks....!!). Hope there will be many more members signed up on the poll to attend. We had 17 members indicate Vegas was the preference and over 30 members vote in total......where is everyone???? David

I would like someone to know what we are about on the plus side. Not the down'ers but the uppers. That's me. Have a good one.:-)))

Have not received any feedback on the 5 clubs listed below. We can wait till we're in Vegas to decide on when/where etc. For the first night why don't we plan on the Griffin (511 Fremont) and Beauty Bar (almost next door to each other at 517 Fremont) at 9PM after dinner at Second Street Grill? I am in Vegas on the 5th and can look after making sure we have tables at each location. Let me know if this works for everyone? We could then make the Brass (Hennesseys) our Friday night bar?

I can scare the air faire, but not the hotel bill. I can sleep on the floor, though... (camping gear). I used to live in LV, and you missed a couple of spots.

Look forward to having you join us! Maybe some of those attending may have room?

And, would love to have you share the locations missed.

Next door is The Griffin, a dark and gargoyle-y bar with strong drinks and no cover. The Downtown Cocktail Room has a good selection of our beloved absinthe (we had Pernod and Mansinthe).

If you are interested in shopping for heels and wear size 10 or smaller, visit:

Wild Pair Shoe Store

3663 Las Vegas Blvd S # 395

Las Vegas, NV 89109-1949

(702) 892-0662

and other shoe stores at the Fashion Mall

3200 Las Vegas Blvd

Las Vegas, NV 89109-2692

(702) 369-0704

Note: these two malls are almost empty during weekday morning and early afternoon hours.

.....Both malls are huge. The mall that Wild Pair is located in is called "Miracle Mile Shops", which is part of the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino This mall contains other shoe stores including Bakers, (designer) Betsy Johnson, and Steve Madden. However, if you only have time to shop at one shoe store, then Wild Pair is that one. They have plenty of designer type of 4 to 5 inch heels that are moderately priced and sometimes, there are super buys on clearance items.

Also, while I called it the Fashion Mall, the official name is "Fashion Show" mall. It is across from Wynn, just north of Caesar's Palace and the Mirage. While the Fashion Show is known as an upscale place, it has shoe stores with all price ranges including low-priced Payless. Some moderate priced shoe stores include (another) Bakers and Nine West. Some high-end designer stores include BCBG Max Azria, Cole Haan, Ken Cole, Louis Vuitton and Michael Kors.

TIP: bring a 6-inch ruler with you. Sometimes, there are great buys on really nice, hard-to-find designer 5-inch heels.

That's always assuming you buy shoes based solely on their heel height...

Hello, Dr. Shoe,

You are right, of course. As I re-read what I wrote, there are a few missing sentences.

Perhaps, I should have wrote:

TIP: If you are looking for a certain heel height, then bring a 6-inch ruler.

Sometimes, it is difficult to determine the actual height of a heel. Brick-and-mortar stores don't usually post shoe description information. Even when heel height information is provided (like at most Internet stores), the actual pair of shoes may have a shorter or even, higher heel height. Also, with platforms, it is even more difficult to figure out the height of the actual instep (i.e., heel height minus platform height).

____

BTW, is that you in the photo on the web page? (Whoever is in the photo is pretty and reminds me of actress Lisa Kudrow.)

review from freestyle heeler, comparing experience on the Strip versus Downtown/Fremont.....................

"Salvation is away from the Vegas Strip, in the old downtown illuminated by restored retro neon lights. Two years ago, I had a riotous time at Beauty Bar in my stiletto heel thigh high Boots: 80s dance tracks and manicures, with a hilarious floor show by drag queen Toni.

Las Vegas was fun! Sorry not more members were able to show up or attend. On Thursday evening we ended up with four of us, SpikesMike (red calf length lace up Boots, 6 inch heels and spurs with a jean skirt), iLoveBoots (crotch high black leather Boots with 7 inch heels and 2 inch platform over white dressage jodphurs), Lady Sultry (knee high black leather 4 inch heel Boots over jeans) and Nick. At dinner we sure had the attention of the hostess, waitresses and also the folks at the bar who had us make an encore appearance in our high heel Boots for their camera's! A couple who entered the restaurant wanted to see what all the commotion was about and when seeing our high heel Boots the lady commented, "now that's sexy"! On our Fremont Street walk to the Griffin Lounge we were stopped a few times, first by a couple of ladies from Wales who were quite taken by the heels and Boots, of course pictures followed! We had a great evening at the Griffin, awesome conversation and a few of the other customers in the lounge also in thigh Boots, lovely! Friday dinner was four of us, iLoveBoots (crotch high black leather Boots with 7 inch heels/2 inch platform over suede jodphurs), SpikesMike (brown leather skirt with black leather thigh high Boots with 6 inch heels and spurs), Hoverfly (black leather 4 inch heel Boots) and Texasbumpkin. Awesome meal and terrific conversation. The group joined Lady Sultry (black leather thigh high Boots with 4 inch heels over black leggings), Nick and Rena (knee high black leather Boots with front lace and leather skirt) at the Brass. It was definitely a high heel Boot crowd! Many many many thanks to SpikesMike (Ohio), Hoverfly and Texasbumpkin (New Hampshire) and Lady Sultry, Nick and Rena (Las Vegas) for making the meet so much fun! 2nd Annual North America High Heel/Boot Meet is in the books.....now the planning starts on the 3rd Annual. Time for an east coast meet, maybe NYC in March 2012??? Cheers, David & Cathy

To all high heel lovers. The 2nd. North American High Heel Meet was a monumental blast. I am sorry more members did not partake. Thank you to those who did. iloveboots has given a great short story of the event. The personal contact with all the people we met, members and street vacationers can not be discribed here. The laugter, the comments from passers by. Such as whistles and cat calls like " nice ass ". When a man is wearing a skirt and/or high heels it's something you must experience personallly. Most whistles from woman, but not all. Woman ask the greatest number of questions. On sunday 4-10=2011, I was still in Las Vegas. I spent the nite on Fremont Street wearing Black Jeans and my Red Patent 6" High Heel Boots w/ Spurs. Going in and out of Casinos. I had supper in a place called "Mermaids" . They served $1.00 hot dogs. Then I walked down Fremont Street to the 4 Queens. I've never been photographed so much in my life. In the 4 Queens, for a short while I played slots. During which time I was interupted several times by a host of people. A group of 6 from Canada, then some guys who were just curious about the high heels and spurs ask, Do they hurt your feet? What's the cost, What size, Were do you get them, etc. Then of all people, the Securty people want to take pictures with me along with everyone else. So after an hour of this I leave the slot to play double deck black jack (21). No one bothered me at the table. I play for about 3hrs. Cash out. Its Getting late. Walking back to my car. Out on Fremont Street, I hear talking behind me. Sounded like " I wish he would slow down". I look back and there are a half dozen gorgeous young women trying to catch up. I stop and they ask to take pictures with me and ask questions. A half hour later, all questions exhosted they move on. NO, not for me. There are two "2" Las Vegas Police officers on bicycles "man and woman" sitting there wanting to ask all the same questions. We talk for a while and go on our way. Monday is my flight home. I wear my Mary Jane, black patent pumps w/ 6" stiletto hgih heels on the plane. Whan we land in Columbus, Ohio (home) we are about to deboard the plane. I hear a woman in ths seat directly behind me talking about the Hot Dog she and her friends had last nite down on Fremont Street at Mermaids. I turned around and said I had Hot Dogs there last nite too. Her eyes got real wide open and said, " Are you the man we saw there in the Red High Heels?" I said YES. I am wearing high heels now. Still sitting down, I brought my foot up to seat level for her to see, now her mouth is wide open with the usual "Oh My God" comment. Well there you go, Life is like a box of choclates--You never know what your going to get. Aint it a great life? True Story Mike

Spikesmike, glad to hear you had a fun trip to Las Vegas. Your story deserves to be in a newspaper. You are amazing. Curious if you was you wearing a skirt or pants with the 6 inch heeled Mary Janes?

Your $1 hot dog story evoked some of my fond memories of Las Vegas. Thirty years ago, circa 1981, they sold 25 cents foot-long hot dogs and $1 roast beef at the Westward Ho Casino on the Strip.

Also, Westward Ho was near the Silver Slipper Casino, where Kenny Kerr starred in Boyleque. Kenny impersonated Barbara Streisand. Although Kenny was not as beautiful as Barbara, he walked in high heels as well as any woman swaying her hips. Kenny also danced well in high heels in several acts of his stage show.

Across from the Silver Slipper on the Strip was the Riveria Hotel and Casino, where Frank Marino impersonated comedienne Joan Rivers in his La Cage show. I sat at a small table between the front row seats and the stage. So, I was only about 3 feet away from Frank, whenever he was performing at the front of the stage.

As beautiful as Joan Rivers was (a 47 year old beauty at the time), Frank (26 years old) was really MORE beautiful and stunning than Joan. Joan shared the same sentiment at that time.

So, I was sitting directly in front of Frank Marino's feet, while he was impersonating Joan Rivers on stage. He wore several different outfits and pairs of beautiful designer high heel shoes, like the kind that cost several hundred dollars a pair at boutiques in Caesar’s Palace. According to Frank, he spent (literally) all of his money buying women’s gowns and stuff. (If you are a guy, can you imagine investing all of your money in women's clothing?)

Hey gang! I am so glad that you all had so much fun at this heel meet. I was at the Toronto heel meet and I will never forget it. I hope I can be at the next one. It is hard to get everyone together to meet when we all come from different areas. We all need to remember that we have the same desires and all want the same thing - to be able to wear our heels when we want! I was just in Key West with my wife and another couple on our Harleys. The weather was great and we had a ball. I took along one pair of 5 inch peep toe pumps that I wore in the Key West hotel. My wife is the best and she supports me going to the heel meets. If anyone is ever in the Michigan Holland area - let me know and I will have dinner with you in our heels. David does an awesome job of getting everyone together. Thanks david, Bernheels
