I think there is much to be said of the word "social" Histiletto. I think you are about to stumble upon something there. When that word is spoken the first thing that comes to my mind is "socialism" and I think of countries like Russia, China and even my own. I know this is not a political forum but I think fashion has every bit as much to do with such things as any other. I believe fashion and the limit of choice in expression for men is an agenda more than a "natural" response as to what men and women should wear or do. I heard a man once quote another in saying that art is usually the last thing to go when a society crumbles. I believe fashion and expressing one's self through his/her clothing or shoes is not only art but creativity as well. I wear heels not because they make me feel feminine or that they are comfortable (although some are, some are not depending on choice), but rather because I like the way a particular shoe looks and how it blends with my outfit. Honestly, the shoe could be a flat or a four inch heel for all I care as long as I like the way it looks. However, I am finding that I shop mostly in the so called women section because that is where the majority of stylish shoes are and I usually choose heels because they seem to look the best and making my foot look smaller doesn't hurt either! I used to be in the "feminine" trap but have since found through self exploration that it was another one of those "social" traps. It seems we all want to be part of a group, or most. These days we are taught to be social and part of the herd rather than standing out, being different or creative. Without sounding like a conspiracy theory nut I think it is executed purposely so that men lose their creativity and expression which contains a lot of our power to think freely and invent or create and not be submissive to others or movements. It is just too coincidental to me that men were some of the first to wear heels and such men were of upper class and power. They also had some of the most colorful and fashionable clothing as well as robes and skirts yet now we are confined "socially" to a near prison outfit which looks pretty much the same as the next guy standing near you. I have probably said too much and gone too far with this post but maybe it will get you to think! LOL Aaron

Hi, I'm with Scotchio ..... may I add a few more details - for shoeplay (sitting or standing) - for the clicking sound - like the feeling ... sometimes ... of jammed toes (one pair is a little too small) - sinking the heel into soft ground (grass, mud and so on) - putting out a cigarette in them

I voted some time ago but did not reply to the post. I like them because how they make me feel, how they look the infinite styles which are available and much more fun to wear. I do not like mens shoes becuase thay are boring boring as many have mentioned. That is with most mens things in fashion and fit too, also they compliment what a person is wearing more than mens shoes. As you can tell I don't like suits! Plus my size is easily found, 11 womens it is not a huge foot, still petit compared with a size 11 mens. Plus finally I like them heels, in all sorts of shapes and sizes styles. Mtnsofheels

I voted for the comfort and for the feminine feeling. For me they are more comfortable - they have no weight compared to mens shoes, despite this they offer sturdy support, and the uppers are so soft and mould to your feet (unlike mens shoes). I enjoy expressing my feminine side, I like to wear my heels with a tailored skirt suit, matching handbag etc. I dress in an effort have a coordinated classical style (very feminine shoes and bags) on par with any woman I might encounter, so I love accesories, bags and detailed shoes. I always wear a stiletto heel and aim to wear the highest and finest heels in a room. I like the attention, and I have learnt (as I am sure women know of) that heels represent empowerment - you can take control of a room by entering with the right attitude and look should you wish. High heels are all about confidence - at first confidence to wear them well, and then later the confidence they give you as you learn how to use your shoes (and legs) to your benefit. So I suppose I wear them for the feminine fun side of me - and a bit of an exhibitionist comes out as well! Cheers Heel-Lover

Why do i wear heels. I have no idea why it started. But they are just beautiful!! I love the way they look by themselves. I love the way the look worn by a women. I love the way they look on my feet. And in some strange way it can really calm me down when i sit down relaxing while wearing a pair of heels. And i'm a woman when it comes to shoes. :pulsingheart: I've read quite a few shoe topics on girl forums and i feel exactly like them when it comes to shoes.

I wear heels because I like various feminine fashion styles. I like the noise they make while I walk and most of all, I like heels because they are cool. I definitely don't wear them for the comfort . Heels will never be as comfortable as flats for me but they are usually much more stylish than flats. For the sake of style, I sacrifice my comfort.

Because mens shoes are boring boring boring. I started highlight my hair a few years ago because of the same problem.

I have to agree. I yawn every time I even glance at a man's shoe it seems. I highlighted my hair for a while also some time ago which proved to be a lot of fun as well as a compliment magnet. I have medium length hair which is also not normal but I have received a lot of positive attention and compliments about it from women and men. The women think it looks great and the men want to know where I got it done so they can do the same! I think it just goes to show that if you be yourself and creative there is no room for criticism or judgment.

Daniel those podiatrists would argue with you about the health benefits of wearing heels! LOL

You are right: I'm sure they would argue.

As long as you (we) don't wear them too often and not too high,

I'm sure there would not be any negative effect to the feet.

I should have said "They are good for your health because they feel good"

Happy heeling all !

I couldn't agree more. :silly: I am also a shoe love and am very picky in the men's section since so many styles of shoes are ugly. I always want to just browse in the women's section for shoes but when i'm a woman's size 13 US, its a bit hard. :)

A year ago when this thread started I voted 'other'. The fem part I don't understand, I'm a guy, I just like heels. They are just shoes, right? Comfort, absolutely....my 5" MJs are. Challenge, yes....to become the best heel wearer I can be. Show-off, no....but my public comfort level is really high. Having fun, yes....what more can I say. Take care Thrill

...most of these shoes or boots looks much better than men shoes...and important they sounds much better on hard floor. In the past a man has an outstanding sound, when he stroke his way down the street (not marching!)...Today most of the men take there way loudless wearing sportshoes. I'm not a grey loudless mouse...so I do what I want and wear what ever I want. Shortskip
