For those who don't know what Skype is see their website at www.skype.com. It is a Voice Over IP software with a chat function. Users could post their "Skype name" here in this thread. Those wanting to live chat with someone else would first need to send a request to "Share contact info". (BTW, Skype is more secure than MSN and others) Skype users will also see who is on-line and chat with him/her if required. It is also possible to live chat with more than one person at a time. And as a bonus, it would be possible to TALK to each other up to 5 users a a time. (the 4 other users are invited by a host). Note that webcams are also supported. My Skype name is danielp6406. Do a Skype search for my nickname, send me a request and I will gladdy accept it. (Obviously, you should use the same Skype nickname as you nickname in this forum) Anyone interested ? Message to all: Remember that everybody will need to send a request to everyone in order to see if a Skype user is online or not. Elegant :-) I added your name to my Skype contact list (And I renamed your name to "HHPlace -Elegant" so I can recognize you...) We are now 2. Hoping many more will join Skype ... Tech Posted December 17, 2008 Share Posted December 17, 2008 If you all look underneath each users "Avatar" you can all see who has Skype / MSN / AIM etc etc Just put your IM details into your profiles, and then it will show an icon for each one that you have entered. Greetings Tech :-) I entered my Shype name in my profile a while ago but the Skype status icon doesn't work for me. The "X" is still gray when I am online with Skype... I am using the Skype software in my computer and also using a stand-alone desktop Skype phone (Which doesn't require computer to be on-line) The icon under my avatar remains gray when I am on-line with either one. (I am online with Skype as I type this and the "X" under my avatar is gray) BTW, How do you check if a user is online with Skype ? Well, you dont need to "post" your Skype names, and I'd advise against that as it then makes them accessible to spam crawlers. Just click on the skype icon instead and it will bring up that members skype details for you to contact them if they have put it into their profiles. Nice skype phone too Shame Skype chat is pants...
