The Jaunts of JeffB!

JeffB

Recommended Posts

JeffB,

Two nice jaunts for you. Both ensembles looked great on you. I'm glad your adding more colors in your ensembles. I love colors and am always experimenting with new  color matches.

This afternoon I wore a denin skirt, out. Read about it on my, "Heeling with bluejay", thread. You've been an inpiration for me, to wear skirts out more and more.

Happy Heeling,

bluejay

I think I have feelings for you but am scared to express it. I need to come to the States and tell you in person. This is the first time using the PM function, so I am not sure if it has worked properly

Well, that was certainly....unexpected. And here I was thinking you didn't like my latest outfit. I must say this left me speechless.

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

Jaunt #253, 12/29/2014:
So, what does one wear for a trip to the local slots parlor? Why, thigh high boots of course! And that's exactly what I sported on an outing to Parx Casino, pairing the boots with my black faux leather biker jacket over a red turtleneck, a 15 inch blue denim miniskirt, off-black pantyhose and my favorite black handbag. It had been awhile since I last wore the boots, August if memory serves, but it felt good to wear them again (TBG: I know I should wear them more often), and yes, I look darn good in them, especially with a short skirt, but then, skirts are all I wear these days, so, it made for a great pairing.

Properly attired, I got in my car and drove out to Northeast Philly and the casino, I arrived around eleven, parking in the lot, I hopped out and headed in, passing several people going the other way, neither of whom, gave me so much as a glance. With temps in the upper 40's, it wasn't too chilly, perfect conditions for a miniskirt and thigh boots. Entering the casino, no one paid me any attention as they were busy with the one armed bandits they were playing, if you want to wear heels or any sort of women's attire and go pretty much ignored, head to your friendly neighborhood casino or slots parlor, with patrons busing trying to break the bank, no one’s going to care one bit about what you're wearing. Heck, I could probably wear a sequined evening gown, tiara and all and not get so much as a glance. Cruising the floor, I would spend well over half an hour playing several penny slot machines, but it was when I gave a Beetlejuice machine a try, after some ten minutes or so, I got lucky (well, lucky for me) when I hit for $230 bucks. WHOO! It had been quite a long time since I got that lucky on the slots, cashing in my winnings, I pocketed two Benjamins and played with the rest until it ran out, perfectly content with my winnings, I headed out before I got any silly ideas. When you win a substantial amount of money, the dead last thing you want to do is give it right back to the casino.

Leaving the casino, I got back in the car and returned to town, driving into Springfield, stopping at Arby’s for a late lunch, treating myself to a Beef & Cheddar sandwich, curly fries and a soda. My last stop of the day after that was to Best Buy where I used my winnings to buy a Harmony universal remote control to operate my modest home theater set-up. There had been a good sized crowd in the store when I entered, but, as usual, I was able to go about my business without stares and glances and whatnot. Wearing thigh boots with a daringly short skirt presented a totally different dynamic from all the other outfits I sport on my little adventures, and yeah, it's tremendous fun. More to come....

Nice Outfit and as usual you pulled it off nicely. Casino is a good idea.  Will have to give that a shot.

By all means, give it a try. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the response, or rather, the lack of same.

JeffB -  The outfit looks great.  I think the boots would also have worked well with the 25" black skirt andthe black leathe jacket#251.

Hmm! Definitely food for thought. I'll experiment with that combination.

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

The red stripe on the jacket is a nice touch with the red top, and the overall look is very coordinated, the thigh boots and short skirt add a great sharpness to the style. Like you said, "no one’s going to care one bit about what you're wearing" in the casino, but that's a pretty daring outfit to wear for lunch and shopping. Surely "without stares and glances" is almost a little disappointing, you deserved a few smiles and a nice compliment.

Heck, I could probably wear a sequined evening gown, tiara and all and not get so much as a glance.

That's not the plan for jaunt #300 is it ? ;)

If you like it, wear it.

Nice look JeffB. The short skirt looks great on you. I like wearing the shorter skirts too, however I have never worn thigh-hi boots, with a skirt. I do wear them (short skirts) with knee boots, ankle boots and pumps. Maybe it's time for me to invest in a pair of thigh-hi boots.

If memory serves, I bought that jacket at Sears, the striping was the attraction and lends a bolder look than my dressier leather jacket does. I agree that going shopping in my ensemble would be a tad daring. As for getting smiles or compliments, it stood to reason I'd get neither at that casino. Regarding the notion of wearing a gown on my 300th jaunt, don't give me any ideas, I might just give that a try! HA!  :lmao:

Well, it wouldn't hurt to give thigh high boots a try. They're sensational to wear and look fantastic, especially with a short skirt.

I always new you had good taste in clothes and shoes, but remotes too Jeff!  Harmonies are the best remotes going in my opinion!  I own several.

This is my first Harmony remote, and it works like a dream. Took little time to set it up online and I was off and running with it right away.

"Would be"? It sure sounded to me like you stayed in that ensemble for lunch at Arby's and Best Buy to get your new remote control, so you've definitely ticked the daring box. I couldn't help wondering how this compares with your very first jaunt, where it was interesting to read this:

After all, prior to yesterday, I've been out and about in skirts, including a trip in one to New York City for Pete's sake, and yet, it took a wee bit of effort to expose myself to the world once again in women's shoes.

So, would you still feel apprehensive wearing outfit #1 now after #253 ?

If you like it, wear it.

Perhaps I should've explained that comment better. I would say the outfit I wore on jaunt #253 would be daring for others, to me, it was no big deal. Heck, I wore that same miniskirt in the summer with just a tank top, long legs on full display and platform sandals. As for apprehension about wearing that very first outfit, I'd say no, that was tame, boring even compared to what I wore on Monday.

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

Thanks Jeff, I was just curious to compare your experiences with mine. Over time I've also become increasingly comfortable wearing my heels with outfits that would've been unthinkable to me when I was starting out. At one point I felt like I'd become addicted to the thrill of pushing the boat out a little further each time. I think I've now reached a point where I feel comfortable to wear anything I like, to the point that reverting to a more masculine (or at least androgynous) outfit with heels actually feels a little more daring than wearing a skirt or dress. It's as if the more feminine outfits make it easier for people to keep their gender stereotypes intact (and see me simply as someone who's jumped over the fence to the other side) whereas a more androgynous appearance seems to evoke more reactions because it's challenging those stereotypes (and knocking the fence down) and people feel less comfortable with that.

If you like it, wear it.

It's hard for me to comment following my last embarrassing post - sorry guys. It was a genuine mistake, not meant for public view. :nono:

I think Jeff pulls off the look as it's a good masculine look, the same old jeans and shorts gets boring, kilts cost way too much, so something simple as a denim skirt (which is invisible to most in terms of reactions) is a good alternative. Chino Pencil skirts also look good, and naturally go well with a nice pair of heels, I think boots look the best.

I'm sure that Jeff will show us some more fabulous ensembles in 2015 ♡

SleekHeels: Being comfortable in one's own skin when venturing out in clothing and shoes generally associated with the opposite sex is extremely important. Perhaps if I hadn't already worn a skirt in public before I launched this thread, I would never had envisioned wearing what I had on jaunt #253 back in 2008. Since I don't have anything in the way of an androgynous look, I simply present myself as what I am: a middle aged man with graying hair who wears skirts and heels, nothing more, nothing less. Whether the public accepts me as I am or not, that's fine, the fact people rarely bother to even acknowledge me in the clothes I choose to wear (at least not to my face anyway, what happens behind my back is anybody's guess) says that perhaps I am accepted, or rather the world as a whole could care less.

Kilty: Thanks for explaining that situation. The notion of wearing a kilt never occured to me, why bother when it's easier, and cheaper to wear a skirt which presents that certain...feminine touch that I like. Meanwhile....

Jaunt #254, 1/2/2015:
I'm not sure, but this might well be the earliest I've started a new year with a jaunt as I headed out on January 2nd in my black leather jacket over a magenta turtleneck, the 15 inch denim miniskirt, black leggings, the Pleaser 4 inch heeled thigh boots and a black handbag. I don't know if you could call this a casual outfit, but it was plenty stylish, and that was good enough for me. Despite bright sunshine, temperatures were only in the low to mid 40’s, yet, I still felt nice and warm thanks to the ensemble and how I put it together, even though I wore I short skirt, I wasn't the least bit chilled from the conditions.

My first stop of the day was to the main branch of the post office as I had to buy a money order, walking in, I saw there was quite a long line, sort of unexpected for eleven a.m. on a Friday morning, no matter. I stood in line behind an African-American woman and her young daughter who I guessed was no more than four or five, as was often the case, adults often ignore me while on my outings, but young children take notice of me, mainly out of curiosity, and this little girl was no different as she looked me up and down from wide eyed interest, so I took something of an initiative and grinned at her, she giggled a bit and grinned back, a nice little exchange. Little over five minutes later, I was at the counter, bought my money order, filled it out, stuffed it in the envelope and left, no fuss, no bother. From there, it was off to downtown and my friendly neighborhood comic book shop, took some fifteen minutes to find a spot, about half a block down from the shop, again, no one took notice during the brief walk to the shop, or the longer walk to the conveinence store a block away to buy a lottery ticket, again, no stares, pointed fingers or chuckles or anything else.

Back in the car, it was over the bridge and into South Jersey and the Moorestown Mall area where I decided to have lunch at Chick-Fil-A. Hopping out, I entered the store and saw it was plenty full with diners young and old, especially young as the store had an attached play area for the kiddies, so there were a goodly number of youngsters about, some of whom predictably took notice of me, after placing my order, I sat at a table not far from from the counter, so people coming in got a good look at me in my skirt and thigh boots while I ate. Out of the corner of my eye, I took notice of the influx of people, there were a couple of brief stares here and there, but nothing significant, I bothered no one and no one bothered me. Leaving the store, I went to Best Buy for my last stop of the day, there was a pretty good crowd there as well, but no one paid much, if any attention to me in the twenty plus minutes I was in the store before I checked out with a movie on Blu-Ray. I could've stayed in the area longer, but I needed to get over the bridge and back into town before the afternoon rush hour traffic started snarling up the roads. Once again, another enjoyable outing.

Speaking of outings, I achieved a personal milestone on my previous jaunt on December 29th, going an entire calendar year (2014) wearing skirts on my outings, winter, spring, summer, fall and back to winter again, parading about in everything from 15 inch minis to 40 inch ankle dusters, and it was a glorious experience. As the new year has begun, my days of wearing pants and jeans recedes further and further into memory, I'm fully devoted to skirts (and dresses) now, nothing else will do for me, and my freestyling passion demands I wear nothing else. More to come....

The outfit looks great (biased opinion) and the epitome of casual.

I understand your goal to abandon pants on you jaunts but thigh boots and jeans with a leather jacket is a classic look that shouldn't be ignored just because it doesn't include a skirt/dress.

Excellent colour choices, and now you've seen that denim is invisible, time to push the envelope and try pencil skirts in other fabrics! Your look works with the black tights. Bravo! As you have seen, more people are not bothered by the manskirt as it becomes more of a viable alternative to trousers and shorts

Very good Jeff B, you have done a great job getting those skirts matched up with the THB's and jacket, you look fabulous!

Good for you in getting a whole year/4 seasons with your passion for fashion, just amazing. You, THG and 6wish are hugely inspiring for sure.

Enjoy catching up on your jaunts and outings, thanks for sharing. Looking forward another great year of you posts!

Be safe and enjoy!

Well, I've already worn a knit skirt on a precious outing, but I like denim for the ease of wear and the casual look which I enjoy.

Hey JeffB. I heard that you had an ice storm in Philly this AM. Not a great time to be out in heels. I've had problems with lots of snow and cold, here too. First time out in over two weeks, today, wearing heels. Three inch block heel, knee boots, just the same they were heels!

bluejay: It was absolutely hellish here yesterday. Icy streets, roads and freeways, accidents everywhere, bridges closed, mass transit snarled up, trust me, it wasn't a great time to be outside PERIOD. Just walking around the corner to a diner I frequent for breakfast in sneakers that morning was a challenge because of icy sidewalks, but that was the extent of my travels as I spent the rest of the day indoors watching TV.
