  1. Those of you who have read my replies will know I wear heels almost daily, and, in public regularly. So here goes.

For the last decade, the idea of men wearing high heels has been cropping-up on a regular basis, and with a mild degree of acceptance. If wearing either mens higher heels, or doing like the rest of us and buying ones intended for women, great---carry on.

I cannot see the male pulic buying into this in the next decade. Sure, some famous or artistic guys will, but the vast majority won't. The saving factor at present is that folks are tied up in thier own problems and reaction varies from ammusement to disdain, or more likely disinterest.

I don't expect to still be about when men find true equality in fashion choice.

Keep at though, stranger things have happened.

Agreed - - 99% of men I know have no fashion interest at all. The buy a pair of Nike's and use them to go everywhere outside of their home, and to go to work.
  2. I love the cut-aways....I bet they look fabulous on.

I'm with you on this shoe. Those look great. I'd wear those myself.

I'm betting I can't really afford either (well maybe the shoes won't break the bank) so I'll probably never have them. Now if I could afford the car, I'd get the shoes to go along with it - - just because!!

  3. After reading this thread, I do have to say that there was/is still a mans heel although it is getting tougher to find in the last few years. 20 some years ago, I could go out and easily buy a pair of Justin or Dingo western boots with a stacked underslung 2 1/2" heel, or slightly higher heel, and it was never an issue. I remember many times where I would be hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains, or the Rockies, and someone would always ask - "How can you walk these trails in those high heels?" And my usual reply would be something like; "Been doing it for a long time - - you get used too it." Nothing else was said. Mens boots were decorated, flashy, sometimes rather colorful, and depending on the maker, you could find your wife a matching pair. Might have a slightly higher narrower heel, but they looked pretty much the same. There was no issue about if it was a masculine boot, and rarely a question about the height. Back to today - When I go to the local malls etc with the family, I rarely ever see a guy in anything but some form of atheletic shoe, or maybe a work boot style. If it's leather looking and polished, it's a formal dress or business shoe, and it a 1/2" above basic flat - if that. If I wear a "Mens Western Boot", everyone can hear it in the Mall, and it does get looks, but when I wear a womens dress boot, it doesn't get any more response. It's almost like they (other mall shoppers) expect it to be a strange crazy dude in cowboy boots. If the consumer is driving the market, and hence the fashions that are presented to the men, then it appears obvious that men in general (Not us who hang out here) don't want anything beyond a sneaker, and similar wants in other shoes. It may be what the fashion designers are pushing, and the men are taking it as it comes, but most men I know don't want much in the way of fasion heels. One for work, one for play, and one the wife can tolerate when going out to the movie and dinner. I didn't vote yet - still thinking.

  4. Myself, I seem to favor a platform. Just seems to be easier on the ball of my foot. Some of the single sole shoes just seem too thin on the bottom, and I can feel every little pebble I step on. I feel I'm most comfortable in a 1/2" to 3/4" platform so far although I do have a coule pairs of 2" plus platform heels of which I have done a 'Walk a mile in her shoes' event in with no problems.

  5. I was out shopping and thought I would stop into a specialty boutique for a quick glance at their selections. They were having a clearance on specific Pleaser models/styles when I noticed this one stack of Pleaser strappy platforms in red - - In a size 15!!! Guess they have a limited market in these sizes as the sales associate indicated that they regularly order in a couple models in these larger sizes. She claims she has dancers that wear sizes this big, but I'm betting otherwise.

  6. 5" at size 41? They're virtually flats!

    OK, I'll get my coat...

    EU 41 is US womens size 10 - - - Hmmmmmm - - - Just my size.

If Mrs Wobblefan ever decided to sell those wonderful pumps, I'd be more than happy to help liquidate them for her. Not always a fan of pointy toe, but those are just so 'classic' that it would be a wonderful shoe to add to my selection.

In the mean time, hopefully she gets the feel for them, and gets to strut her stuff comfortably in the near future.

  7. Hi Celeste,

I do not see much activity for this heel meet. Must be the time of year? Are you still going thru with it?

I will be a maybe - it all depends on what my work schedule is and where I will be traveling. Honestly - Wheeling is a bit of a stretch for my customer base. Middle of Ohio would be better for me - Toledo are and south of there. But thats just me.

Keep us tuned in so that we know if you will be there.

    Thanks for organizing this,

    Bernheels

    Ever get near Sandusky area???

Lately I have been swamped too the point where I'm lucky to get a total of 4 hours sleep on any given day, but if your in the area, I might just try to catch up with you. Weekends (what little I get) are kinda like catch up days for me, if you know what I mean.

  8. If I can find a spot are you interested in meeting for Happy Hour heels??

Will see what I can do. Don't know if I will have a traveling companion from work with me or not. If I can slip away, it's a possibility. Kinda have to be a bit carefull about what I do around co-workers as they are no where near as open-minded as most outside of this hickville area I live in.
  9. I have about 12 pairs of heels. The bbots I have worn out and about, but not too much locally. Mens footwear 1 pair of dress western boots. 2 pairs outdoor, light work boots. 1 pair ugly beat up and grease and grime covered steel toe work boots. - - - guess which pair gets the most use???

  10. Oh well - - Something I won't have to debate over. They don't make high heel steel toe work boots. Besides that, it just wouldn't look right wearing a platform pump running a 1" impact, or a 36" pipe wrench.

  11. First time I see a kilt with high heels. Outfit # 2 look good !

Your wife does not like it when you wear a skirt in public

but she is OK when you wear a kilt and high heels ?

I don't see the difference between both.

Maybe she thinks a skirt is too "feminine" for a man to wear ?

IMHO I think the heels are way more "feminine" looking than a skirt...

As a person who was with wetwillie at the second photo op, I'd have to say she appeared a bit nervous about the whole event (Hey - she appeared to be from my first impression) I will say he had nothing to worry about as I am sure she was wondering about me. I know I was way over the edge in my outfit. The college girls seemed to like the look, and being the few older guys amongst a lot of college frat boys, it was a bit different.

Oh - - and I know my wife would have freaked had she seen either of us. It would be just to much for her. She still isn't totally on board with the heels yet.

Beyond all of that, it was a good event. I haven't heard if they will be doing another one this year. If they do, I'll try and make it again - - maybe without a skirt this time though.

  12. I can honestly say that girls never did wear those styles in any local school where I am from here in the states. You might have seen a chunky platform shoe common with the pop music culture of the time (Big hair metal bands like Kiss and Twisted sister) but otherwise, you didn't see much in heels of any kind. Seems a lot of the girls in the rural/midwestern smaller cities would rather wear sneakers. Now as for the shoe you mentioned from Payless - - I was thinking I could probably get away with a pair of those and jeans and not even get noticed. Guess I'm gonna see if they have those locally.

  13. Been in the 90's with very high humidity. Some nasty thunderstorms have gone through, but that reprive doesn't last long. All I see are sneakers, trainers, and the all too familiar flip flop - - - then again I live in an area where I don't see much of anything else most of the year, so it's the same old - - - .
