The only time i tend to be near anyone for a comment is when trying on shoes in shops, either nothing is said ie ninewest shops! or as in dune, faith, sniff shoes, kurtgeiger and viv westwood all responses have been positive (probably because they might get another sale lol!) Once in kg the woman serving me gave me her mob. number which was amusing! First response is usually disbelief followed by curiosity, but once you have them on (the shoes/boots that is) enthusiasm! I have one woman friend who has seen me in my heels and she responded the same way,its as if you've joined a club....ie you can relate to something that some women put in an effort for.......and often the fact that they ie my friend cant walk in the heels i wear, which she finds amusing! The worst comment that i have had is from my wife who insists that i'm a sad case......and she hasnt even seen them on!!!! aw well takes all sorts...

As art pieces maybe.....shoes na not my cup of tea..still you have to admire the ideas...remind me of torture implements from the spanish inquisition!

Well i have multiple hobbies which may suggest a creative mind gardening, sport, photography, heels!,carpentry, lighting design and freestyling when im in the mood! my problem is work interfers with my hobbies..lol My interest in heels stems partly from the fact that some shoes/boots are like sculptures, something to admire as well as wear.

true gary, but sometimes some designers come up small and some large as i have found.I am not familiar with balenciaga, louboutins come up small and michael kors appear to be larger,so i was hoping the seller might give a more accurate size but it seems they are not 100 per cent! might chance it

This has probably been through before but i have found some great boots on ebay.com in a size 10 that i would love to buy (Item number: 130168492311) sorry havent posted a pic havent worked that one out yet! Problem is that i am getting confusing details on what a size 10 translates to in euro/u.k sizing. I usually take a 40 or in a boot sometimes a 41 Any advice would be welcome!

yep, first accident last week! wearing heels at work i forgot the wedge heeled boots i was wearing had a soft sole.Came down some stairs as the middle of the sole landed on the edge of the step and next i was flying as my ankle went from under me! wont be doing that again in a hurry! luckily only my pride was injured (and a sore ankle)

Hi saralou, the genova's are very nice. But i would wear the elba style to walk if the roads are that bad! and change to the genova on arrival!

I wear womens jeans as well on occasion,i prefer the tighter fit and for boots only skinny jeans will do! got about five pairs now , skinnies and flared at the bottom. Have been looking for a drainpipe style and a cropped pair as well to add to my collection of styles.Mostly shop at topshop, asda and riverisland. As my wife isnt ageeable to my heeling i do wear them with my trainers, sometimes with the odd comment from her which is annoying as she gave me a new pair of hers that didnt fit her and dared me to wear them! (who needs a dare!) when i did wear them she liked the look! Most of her problem is what she perceives other people to be thinking which causes HER to feel embarrassed.

Well for the last couple of weeks at virtually every chance i have been wearing my new boots from faith shoes (a style called'moan'). They are a wedge heel and knee high in suede and dark brown. tried to download a pic but failed! Usually i would never wear heels as such if i could meet people i know while strolling around but they are so comfortable and discreet looking (ie with jeans over the boot) i thought what the hell or even what the heel! So far i have bumped into my daughter twice (and her boyfriend),chatted to a neighbour for half an hour, been to the local shops (via my car) and generally been out and about and have carried out a couple of jobs,oh ye and been to peachys in bristol. No one has said a word, even the fact that they make me four inches taller has passed people by. what i have found is that in my early days of heeling i was very nervous so i acted odd,and people would be suspicious and so i would attract attention, now i am much more relaxed and no one seems to take a blind bit of notice. Its a start and at least now locally i know i can heel without much stress! Next on the agenda will be 'real' heels but maybe a bit further afield!!!!!

Well i will try and keep this short,i have now decided that trying on is the only way to go,the only restraint i have is time as in office recently bought some shoes and boots ad hoc as my car meter was running out! my most recent trips were whistles in wimbledon village absolutely brilliant shop, went in and tried on some m.kors wedge high heels reduced in the sale from £129 to £38,on enquiring on a size 40 i told the sales girl they were for me and she said that there was a changing room if i wanted but i opted for the front seat at the window!where upon she offered a drink and assisted while i tried them out, several shoppers came in but nothing was said, only brief glances. The assistant was really good and even phoned around some other branches to try and locate another pair i liked but to no avail. Dune on the kings road, saw some great suede boots in the sale, again asked for my size and said they were for me,sales girl thought i was joking at first and wouldnt believe i would try them on!WRONG! when she saw them she said they looked really good with my attire and then tried to get me to try some others on! A year ago i probably would not have been so bold, but now i have lost my inhibitions, you only live once and the majoity of people really couldnt careless what other people do,in fact with recent experience i have found mostly you can get away with most things,i now wear most days 3'' cowboy style boots whilst out working, they make alot of noise but are so comfortable that i couldnt give a monkeys what anyone else thinks, and guess what, nobody has said a word.

Have to agree you cant beat the buzz you get from trying shoes on in store. so far i have found sniff shoes near paradiso very good, kurt geiger in kensington and kings road, atticus in kensington (now closed down),via venise on the kings road and united nude in bermondsey all the staff were great. only nine west in kings road were a bit offish for want of a better word, possibly because the manager didnt speak great english! Best one was in faith in oxford street the sales assistant thought i was joking when i said i wanted to try some boots on and was very impressed i could walk in them.Often you end up having a good chat with them which makes it all the more fun!

Was out and about again in my united nude mules, but only at my local allotment while doing some photography, had a 3hr session before having to return home, was seen by one couple but no reaction, dont even think they noticed.
oops forgot to sign in! -
well finally heeled in public, went to work in my lowly 3'' heeled wedge boots and wore them for over 12hrs (long day!). Bit of a milestone for me so had to get it off my chest. went to four different jobs and i think only one brief glance but nothing mentioned, but boy did my feet ache, great fun!!!!! trouble is now i want to do it again which is not always that easy

just like chris, put your foot diagonally and your normally ok,going up is sometimes a problem on narrow stairs as you end up balancing on your toes, have only the once fell arse over elbow
not good.luckily the ground, handrail and bottom step broke my fall!

Not a massive fan but given the right situation quite cool i.e. in bed! but no generally you wouldnt see them unless you wore sandles and then i think detract from the beauty of the shoe, but all depends on the design.
