  1. Well, my new platform heels came in yesterday. They fit and feel GREAT. Anyway, wore them today to my daughters dance class. I had a few odd looks, but didn't care and wore them proudly. I know you could see the shoes, even though I wore long jeans, I don't think they came down the full way. I had to pass a full wall mirror in one dance room to get to the bathroom and I could see myself walking and saw the ENTIRE shoe in the mirror! Oh well, like I said, I didn't care if anyone saw, i just smiled back whenever anyway looked. Also I asked my wife how they looked when I was leaving and she said "Yeah, I like those alot better than the others, the heels are thicker and more maculine!".

  2. Wonder what the niece's father will say when she tell him about the "weird" guy in women's shoes that's married to her aunt? :)

Actually Bubba, she is having alot more "issues" with her dad than me. She is kinda embarrised by him. My sis-in-law just told me that her daughter wants her to meet her bf parents (sounds serious) BUT her and her bf agreed to keep her father out of it for now. He is VERY overweight and doesn't exactly have the best hygene. Ever seen My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance? Well, he looks/acts almost EXACTLY like that (I feel bad for the guy), so I don't think she will be saying anything to "daddy" about me wearing heels

Dawn - Nah, I think things are ok actually. I just think its best I let sis-in-law handle niece and stay out of it.

  3. Dawn, To be honest, haven't told my wife that I told her older sister, she is known as the family "rebel". I defintely dont wanna tell my wife her niece noticed them because she JUST started getting more comfortable when her younger sister said they look unisex. She is now ok with me wearing them. If she now thinks people are noticing them, she will freak. My older sister-in-law is handling the situation and I will let her take charge. My niece is on the shy side (it took her 6 months to mention it to her MOTHER) so I doubt she would even say anything. On top of that, I am not very close to my wifes niece anyway, only see her at family gaitherings during major holidays and even then just in passing. Scotty

  4. As you all know, I recently told my wife's younger sister about my heel wearing and she didnt think anything of it. She actually said the heels (block heels) pretty much look "unisex". Anyway, I also told my wife's older sister and she said she never even noticed me wearing them. Well, she recently went out with her daughter (she is in her early 20s) and this is what she just emailed me...... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Um, thought you'd like to know how observant your niece is....we were out yesterday evening for dinner at mall then went to out for coffee. My child told me that she noticed when we were out at the mall around Christmas w/ you and the family that YOU were wearing "pumps" or actually shoe/boots like Prince. I nonchalantly said, "OH?" and asked her what about it....she said, "oh nothing, it's just that it was a little wierd he had shoes with heels" I said some guys have shoes like that and there's nothing wrong with it. She agreed and I was amused that it took her this long to reveal what she saw....LOL. Gee, I must be blind!!!!" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyway, not sure to take it as a positive or negative now that my niece things I am "weird". What do you all think? The good news is both my sister-in-laws think it is fine and my wife has eased up on her apprehensions. Scotty

  5. I agree Daz. The problem is that when I am at work, I am trying my best to look "normal" which means NOT taking small steps and walking at a fast pace which is why I think my feet/legs hurt  The things we go through to wear heels huh? Scotty

  6. Youngwolf, The look DEFINITELY suits you, you look great in the heels, very natural. Actually you look like you are ready to walk onto a set of Highlander, you would be a natural for the part too (if you posed with a sword wearing th same outfit you could do a publicity photo for the movie or series). I wish I could pull off the look as well. My wife is a MAJOR fan of the Highlander look and LOVES Scotland and the scotish accent. She hopes to go there someday, we shall see. (BTW, I am German/Irish). Congrats on your purchase and have fun wearing them. Forget anyone that things you look strange, they are probably more jealous than upset. Scotty

  7. Hey Bubba,

You are right in that the insert does make it harder than a plan 4", that much is definite. I don't think it makes it impossible though, just more difficult. I think over time I probably will get more used to wearing them, I haven't even been wearing them to work for a full 2 weeks yet. With the heel lift I think they fit more like the shoes you see with the split arch like these:

Except inside a shoe/boot instead of sandals like above. Basically your heel and your arch hit the shoe but nothing in between. I am sure that DOES make it harder to walk in than a plan 4" heel, but again I am sure I could probably get used to it too.

  8. Appreciate all your help and advice. Actually on the ones for me, I found that if I don't wear socks, they fit fine. With nylon socks my feet slide out when I walk. I guess I can either wear no socks OR cotton socks (yuk). The ones for my wife, the shoes they sent were actually the wrong ones. We didn't notice right away until I posted the note and saw the picture. It took a LONG time to get them which is why we forgot what we ordered. Anyway, they didn't have her style/size so instead of returning them and taking a loss, her sister who is a size 6 wants them so we are "giving" them to her as a gift (she recently got laid off). 9. I had something similar happen to me. My max on a pair was $20 and someone pushed me to it. I was afraid of being caught at the last minute, so I bumped it up to $30. The only problem was that Ebay caused me to outbid myself by 50 cents. If you already set a max and try to bump it up, it might put it at the next increment ABOVE your previous max, so you need to be careful. BTW, I too have stayed up "late" for items me or my wife have really wanted so I know how you feel. Again, best of luck! Scotty PS: Another tip I found helps. If I see something I like and it is DAYS away, I add to my "watch" list and keep an eye on it. When it gets down to the last day I make my move. If you bid too early there is a good chance of the item going up in price pretty quickly!

  10. I have been wearing my 3" heels with the 1" lift (4" total) to work for about 2 weeks now. I have noticed that to walk "normal" takes alot more effort than would talk wearing non-heeled shoes. I also notice my legs/feet hurt alot more after walking quickly for any good distance. Just curious if anyone knew do get more of a "workout" wearing heels than if you just walked in flat shoes? If so might be yet another good reason to wear heels  Scotty

  11. I've found another pair of boots that I like more than the original ones I was bidding on. This time I just put in my maximum bid from the off. Of course the danger now is that if the bids get too close to mine I'll be tempted to raise it further.

    This could get expensive!

    Chris

    Chris,

After having this happen to me several times, this is why I wait until the last minute to up my bid. The other day I was trying to get my wife a pair of shoes and I kept going back and forth with this other person upping our bid. I finally got smart and just waited until just under 1min left and put my max bid in. I did end up paying over twice the starting price though! I know it doesn't seem "fair", but that is the rules of Ebay and that is why you have a time feature, to give everyone a fair chance to put in their price.

On another pair of shoes I was "winning" I also opened two browser windows, one with a new higher bid ready to place if I got outbid, and one watching the auction. If I got outbid at the last minute, I was ready to alt-tab over and hit submit. It all depends on how bad you want the item.

Good luck with your new boots!

    Scotty

  12. Hey Bubba, The point is they ARE still being auctioned, the auction didn't end. The other point is that my wife and I have been spending a small fortune lately on shoes (ebay and online) that I don't know if I should keep spending or take a break. I am still on the fence so anyone wanting the shoes, please go for it. If they are still there at the end, I might reconsider but don't let that hold anyone up from taking them. Scotty

  13. All,

For anyone that is a US Size 11, here are some cool looking boots. I am very tempted to bid on them myself, but I also just bought a bunch of shoes and need to give the ole wallet a rest  I might reconsider if no one bid as the end time gets near, however if any of you like them, go for it!

  14. Hi Firefox, I agree there are people out there that seem to always be "sick" yet look so healthy when you actually do see them. There are also alot of people that show up everyday and put there 8hrs in, but don't get a thing done or what they do get done is all wrong. Not sure which annoys me more. I think I could put up with someone taking time off "now and then" if they got alot done. Regardless, if you are good at what you do and are professional at all times, I think you could easily get away with wearing heels at work. Scotty
