  1. I used to inline skate for a couple hours every day. My ankles got flexible due to the type of skating.. grinds, hand rails, etc.. I'd say skating would help with the lateral stability issues that come from wearing heels. Same could be said for skateboarders, but I never see them wearing heels :D Seeya Jim

  2. Contortion man: Good luck in your quest. If I find a way to support the Devious boot's toe box to keep your weight supported by the boots and not your toes I will let you know :D Fetish-factory had a business card for a local cobler (local to ft lauderdale), and I will be taking my TLSB ballet boots there to get the heel tips replaced (wore them outside a few too many times I guess).. and If they are as receptive as FF claims they are I may talk to them about finding a way to reinforce the structure of the boot.. Might even see if there is a way to snug up my dungeonz boots, since they are already easy to walk in. Good luck again Jim

  3. It was a great lesson for young Sean, to learn that those who really do care about you will be by your side through most anything. Even if you are not 100% sure of who you are, those who care for you realise that the little details, like clothing, are not what makes up a persons charachter. Sean will probably help someone out later on, maybe without even knowing it. And I think 'cool' is a great word in this case :D Jim

  4. Gary: experience with ballet heels? Hrm.. I've got 7 pairs at this point from 4 mfg's.. each mfg has their own idea on how to shape the foot area, and what angle the foot should be to the ankle. One thing devious has done is to have the best foot support I've tried yet. My toes do not even touch in my ankle boots, or at least they didnt untill the toe area caved in very slightly. These are in my normal shoe size (womens 9), although their 'shoe' style fits a little better in size 8. I can get my feet into a size 7, but it's not pretty.. hehe The ankle high devious boots also do a great job at holding your ankle at the angle they want.. Unfortunatly devious also put the toe closer to the heel then the other mfgs.. so walking without bent knee's is a bit tough on those of us who do not have a professional ballet background 8) My first pair of ballet boots were from The Little Shoe Box.. great build quality.. I've had them for a few years now and need to replace the heel tips.. they have worn out from usage :D Unfortunatly they have always been just a little big on me, but that gives plenty of space for thick socks and toe padding. Another pair I have is from Dungeonz.de.. they put the most user-friendly angle on the ankle of any mfg.. Very easy to walk in, comparable to 5" heels.. sorta, considering you are still walking on your toes. I have actually worn these while at a local bar.. even drove there in them :) Their downfall is the width for the foot.. So much side room that the boot does not support your foot at all, so all your weight ends up on your toes. With the right padding this can be bearable for a couple of hours, but I eventually give up after about 4 hours of combined walking/sitting.. I have a beutiful pair of zip up thigh high's from qualifetish in Canada (eh).. The foot shape is great, and are the best looking boots I own. They have a little room for a sock/toe pad, and I can walk in them for a little bit, but eventually my toes start to hurt, especially my middle toe which is longer then the rest. The longest I've stood in these is about 1 hour 15 minutes without being able to sit.. I needed help down afterwards though.. I'll try to organize some comparison pics soon. Jim

  5. Well, it looks like the leather ones run for about $50-60 more then the patent ones.. I suspect that devious does not sell direct, since everyone and their mother seems to be selling devious boots at this time.. heh Keep an eye on ebay, other then that I'm not sure if you will find them much cheaper then $220 US. Good luck! Jim

  6. I've to buy a pair, but the store I went to was temporarily out in every size.. I do have ankle high, and zip up thigh high boots from Devious and I am quite pleased with them. If you get a pair of knee boots in regular leather please let me know how you like them Good luck! Jim

  7. Well, I didnt find the boots without the laces, and while examining the boots (and getting some odd looks from women shopping) I decided I didnt want them with the laces. Oh well.. Might just have to order a pair :D The number of colors is nice. Now, if I just had a latex catsuit in every color they came in I'd have to get all the colors of the boots :) I'll let you know when I get a pair. Jim

  8. Well, if you are willing to skimp on quality to save a few bucks for a pair that see very little use outside of the house (not gonna name which room), then the cheaper pairs will always have a market. For those who are willing to save up for a pair of boots that look as good as they feel, expect what you pay for. I'm willing to pay $15 for a pair of wedge sneakers from Payless that I might wear doing a little yard work, or plan to carve up to make wedge inserts for work boots :D But I am also willing to pay +$400 for a pair of VERY nice thigh high boots from Qualifetish.. I also paid around $100 for a pair of zip up thigh highs from Devious. Both have their high points, but if I could only have one pair, it would be the better ones. As far as the two pair's in question.. sorry.. can't help. Jim

  9. Well, I found a similer pair in Aventura the other day at Bloomingdales, but they were $10 more and had 4 eyelets for laces near the top.. Not wanting either I did get to scope out the boots. Not bad build quality, and they look quite comfortable. I did not see a pair at the Nordstroms in Coral Gables the other day, but will be in Boca Raton tomorow for work, and plan to check there. If they have them I will get them tomorow.. if they do not I may wander down back to Aventura and pick up the black pair, and just yank out the laces. I will probably be wearing my 2.5" aerosole boots, so I will have something to compare these to.. both stores are known for excelent customer service, so I should not have a problem trying one on to make sure they fit :D Have a great weekend Jim

  10. Well.. Not quite a step in the wrong direction, but close.. wore these boots while checking out a shopping area in Miami. Made it through the parking garage, over a pedestrian bridge, and through Nordstroms when I decided that I was -way- too self concious of the noise made by the heels :) I have a new pair of Areosoles, model "walk this way" that are silent, and I prefer that I guess.. oh well.. At least I ventured out in them :D Maybe I can get the heel tip changed out to rubber or something. Jim

  11. Well, other site's have said 3" heel.. doesnt look quite as short as 2" to me, but thats why I'd rather check them out in a store first. Here is Nordstroms page, which used to show all the colors except for black.

If you were to use them in foul weather or for yard work I doubt you want much more then 2-3" heels anyways.. Not to mention the black ones seem pretty discrete.

    gotta go

  12. Heya guys. From time to time I have to work in several inches of water. So carrying rubber boots with me is a common occurance. Marc Jacobs has a new pair out http://footcandyshoes.com/detail2.asp?product_id=644142 that should work out fine. They come in several colors, or in just plain black. Worst case I think I should get them to work around the house with all the hurricain flooding we've had.

Nordstroms lists them on their website, but I've yet to find a pair in a store. I may have better luck after Francis came through town.

  13. Silver: The fact that you have gay friends says to me you are not a homophobe. Any discomfort probably comes from a lack of complete understanding on why they are gay.. well.. can't help you on that, not even sure why I am, I just accept it.. took 22 years to do so. Why that long? Well, for one I'm often into things not usually associated with gay culture.. Hand built my Jeep for offroading, have racing in my blood, can't decorate worth a sh*t, not very fashion concious, and 99% of people assume I am straight from my manorism's.. But, as with my first statement, the fact they are your friends outweighs most everything else. Variety is the spice of life, get out there and have fun :D Jim

  14. Very cool, I have a pair of those in red. I'd check on the mfg website, http://www.qualifetish.com and get the stock measurments as compared to the custom fit chart. Fortunatly I was within 1/2" of all measurements when I ordered my boots :D

as far as fit goes.. they will fit a little narrow, but have a great shape. I have several pairs of ballet boots, and although they are not the easiest for me to walk in (too form fitting to put alot of padding in), they are my favorite looking pair.

What size do you normally wear? in high heels and in regular shoes...

I hope these boots work out for you, you will be -very- happy with them :)

(btw.. if you check with the mfg you might be able to get a good deal on a pair they have in stock.. they knocked $100 off the price of mine, which more then paid for overnight shipping, hehe)

  15. Only twice do I remember a sales person even mentioning I was in the womens section, or had a shoe from the womens section.. both were with athletic shoes amazingly...

The more recent one was just a couple weeks ago at a Nordstrom sale.. I was trying to buy a pair of these puma driving shoes, problem is they don't carry all men's shoes down to my size.. so I may have to go to the womens side to get what I want, even if it's exactly the same as what the mens section sells.

    Oh well

    Jim

  16. Brutal? Interesting reaction... Wonder where you could take that... Sounds like a great outing, in more ways then one :D Dark clubs are very easy to wear whatever you want to.. years back at a local 'alternative' club I'd been known to show up on goth night wearing black hh boots.. although not into the goth scene they accept anyone who is genuinly diferent.. and wearing a lycra or latex catsuit was just that.. but thats a diferent story :) Just practice your responce to a friendly female saying "Hey, love your boots, I have a pair just like them" 8) Seeya Jim

  17. Thanks for the compliments everyone :D I did forget to mention running into one of our clients on the east coast prior to taking those photo's. I was standing at the pump filling up my work vehicle (27 gallon tank), and I see the marked truck pull up in front of me, and a known person get out and walk past me to the storefront to get some beer :drinking: We briefly said hello before he left again to empty the containers. I'm a bit concerned about affecting our family business with my heel wearing, so I was a tad nervous when I saw him pull up. Oh well, no-one noticed :) seeya! Jim

  18. Heya guys, was out shopping for boots the other day, decided to go ahead and just shop.. trying out in the store, etc. :D

While I was discrete, I did not try and hide. Found a few boots that were nice, one pair of Franco Sarto's were very comfortable, and very quiet with a 2" rubber heel, but I just was not happy with the way they looked.

    Oh well..

As the day progressed I settled on a pair of Tommy Hilfiger (sp?) calf boots with a ~3.5" heel.. they are definatly taller then the 3" wedge sneakers I was wearing. Quite comfortable, and while standing in my longer jeans they kinda look like western boots.. even when walking only about 1-2" of the heel shows.. only got a couple odd glances while wearing them today.. hehe

Here are the only two pics I've taken.. so far I've worn them for about 8 hours, mostly driving..

Might look into having the heel surface replaced with rubber since these are a a little louder then I'd prefer, but I still like them.

    Have a great one

    Jim
