The greed would actually be the australian who gave away the tradition for money.

Gene: my boyfriend's currently a firefighter.. but has been on the local police SWAT team, and in the Army/Reserves... when he came out to an Uncle, and fellow firefighter the comment "oh damn, another gay firefighter just like the rest".. Not sure what the percentages are, but in NYC there is a gay firefighter union... *shrug*
Fortunatly they all got to know him before he came out, so now it's just a joke whenever something odd comes up on TV...
Still trying to track down a pair of those HD boots.. I found a pair of the Dazzle in Ft Myers, but didnt like the shape, and found a pair of the Stiletto (kind of missleading name) in Naples.. but still not the pair I think you have.. Emotion right? (Sorry, I should just scroll and check).
Oh well.. I'll keep looking.

Very cool story! I've been friends with a couple women that had my same foot size.. One never wore heels, the other liked my heels, but had dificulty in anything over 3" (not sure why), and would get iritated when I could wander around in 5" heels with alot less street practice... Oh well Keep it up, and update us on how things go

I had a bottle of white "Marqui de Ceresas"(sp?) in my slowly warming fridge after hurricain Charlie went over my house.. not sure when the power would be back on I figured why let chilled wine go to waste? Unfortunatly I'd had a couple beers and several shots so the wine was gone before I'd noticed it.. Tasted good though, I also like their merlot's.. Not the best wine story, but it's the last time I'd cracked open a bottle... I have spent several evenings over the years with a glass of good port.. Still have some 20 and 30 year Grahms that are untouched, as well as verious Taylor Fladgate and Fonseca's... All enjoyed with cheeze and crackers
Just because you enjoy something a little diferent way then someone else doesnt mean that either of you are wrong.

Very nice

There are a couple of Off Broadway Shoes, and similerly setup DSW in the Fort Lauderdale area.. I enjoy shopping there when I can
I've even worn heels into there, and spent all my time looking at the heeled boots, and skipped the mens section
Good luck, they often have something worthwhile..

Gene: very cool. I've been looking at the zappos site, but I will probably stop by a H-D store (some large ones in S-FL), and scope them out in person. Thanks! Jim

Yea, worst you might get is a lecture about possible ankle injuries if you came in wearing your 5.5" boots.. Although even with the flat boots you probably gave them something to talk about. Jim
-
I've noticed that.. although shorter heels draw less attention so do not have the same need to be hidden. I'd suspect it's got to do with the angle of the foot.. till the angle gets steep enough to let the pant leg just 'fall' down to the ground, you are just pushing the pant further up the foot. Gene: well, she probably tries to put a "business first" front up.. but on her own time may be a 100% diferent charachter. About the boots.. They look quite nice.. the only description I found is off zappos, so I'll ask you.. are they quiet enough to be subtle? My 4" Tommy Hilfiger boots are comfortable, but louder then I'd like. Although from my experience yesterday shopping in Boca Raton/Fort Lauderdale the only time people notice them is when they are sitting and people watching... I'm looking to find a pair that are quiet enough for me to not draw attention due to noise.. So far I tend to get self concious when I make noise while walking.. oh well.. damn newbie problem
Great to hear your story.
Have a good weekend

Yea, something that just subtly seems wrong can often get someone more curious then something glaring.. kinda hard not to notice thigh boots on a guy.. so they don't pay attention.. but the sounds of heels from a guy who doesnt seem to be wearing anything unusual at first will get some harder looks. I found the same thing with my wedge heeled sneakers.. just a few people trying hard to see what it is they thought they saw. No-one said anything, just looked a little confused. Jim

Sounds like southern FL.. winter exists in Febuary between midnight and 7am.. Jim

I was doing yardwork with a few trips to Home De-pot while wearing my payless 'converse' knockoffs with 2" wedge heels.. Nada problem. I'm guessing most people at home depot have more on their mind then what another shopper has on their feet. Unlike my usual, I had em on with shorts.. and if you look you can definatly see the wedge of the heel Have fun everyone Jim

Gene: my comment was ment to be along the lines of JeffB's "Yes! I'm happy to be alive and well!" Sorry for any confusion
Jim -
(ok, got some sleep) True.. being asked nicely and being called a fag are two diferent situations. A couple of times I've been asked nicely. I do remember a couple situations where "fucking faggots" was used. And trust me, when you hear that in a rough neighborhood after kissing your b/f goodnight.. you get nervous. Jim

Deafty: please do not fear posting again. Some of us kid each other a bit, but it's done more in the spirit of family then hostility. No harm was intended I am sure.. shit, I can't spell worth a damn but that doesnt slow me down at all
Have fun

gene: "why, yes I am happy, thanks for noticing" For myself.. I'm usually confused for someone who is straight. *Shrug* And no, -being- gay doesnt always give you the mental freedom to wear anything you want. Yes, I can wear 5" heels and short shorts to get the groceries.. I would not feel comfortable doing so. I may be odd.. Found a pair of Tommy Hillfiger boots with a 4" heel that could be confused with being a western pair.. so what do I do? Get a pair of longer jeans so the heel doesnt show.. I'm a wuss.. I admit it
I'd also rather just wear what I want without causing a fuss.. and I need to get over my slight mental block so I can wear them out in the open, thus over time reducing the chances of it causing a fuss for anyone else.
Except maybe Oral Roberts.. but I think he's still hung up on Tinky Winky and the magic bag...
Although, I did have intent to wear these boots in Miami while out with a friend from high school.. even with pants that would expose them *Shock*
But, alas.. he was busy setting up a trip to CA.. so other then a quick dinner we spent the night at his place so he could line things up. Although he doesnt have a problem with me wearing them, and chances are any bar he'd take me to would be a gay bar...
Ok.. I'm rambling.. long day.. just blew out the rear axle on my dad's camero, so it's been a rough night. I'll be quiet now.. (can you tell I have ADD?)
btw.. still not sure why being confused for gay is a threat to someone who is straight. From my personal experience (as in what I went through) it's those who are not sure who get a bit hostile when the question comes up at the wrong time. As DrShoe said, ask the girlfriend.. she will know the diference between someone who's up for the action, or just going through the motions.

Simply amazing. Very nice

I hope everything goes well, and hopefully the recovery time is quick. Already spent my time in the hospital, it's no fun. Jim

Well, if it's your first time wearing heels be carefull, of course, since your ankle will see alot of side-side stress it normally will not see. You will get used to walking just a bit diferent in order to keep from twisting something or ending up a little unbalanced. Start from either a pretty tall chair, or bed, and make sure both feet are flat before trying to stand up. Try to keep more weight on the balls of your feet then on the heels, alot of people try to flatten their feet out and end up bending the heel twards the foot.. which is not good. Have fun, hopefully it doesnt take too long to get the boots Jim

Very nice, should be alot of fun
Good luck, make sure to let us know when the boots show up.

Congrats on your travels
I'd suspect you've got a couple reasons for sore calf's pinned down.. although some might initially say that since you can wander around wearing 5-5.5" thigh boots that you should have no problem with 3" heels.. well.. distance and speed will catch up to you. A constant walk for 2 miles in 3" heels will give a beter workout then a stroll around a museum in 5" heels..
Best I've done was a couple miles of walking while shopping in 2.5" boots
Although, I've had 3" payless wedge sneakers, and found them less forgiving for walking then the Aerosoles boots I've had.
Btw, for distances I'd recomend the Aerosoles "Walk this way" boot.. so comfortable you kinda forget you have heels on.. unfortunatly
Maybe they should come out with a 3.5-4" version built the same *shrug*
Much thanks for giving us more tales of your heel wearing, please let us know which model payless boot you've got, since they have 2 versions of the sneaker boot at the moment.
