  1. As far as ballet boots go you might be able to do well with Devious boots. My middle toe is longer then the rest, but these prevent your weight from being on your toes. Back on the other topic.. Shopping! Go for it. If she's cool with you wearing heels then you both may find pairs you like. Jim

  2. Never did try hockey, nor ice skating.. and my inline speed skates are a bit neglected. I did have a good run at aggressive inline skating, and do not seem to have many problems balancing in Ballet heels. Try hitting a few rails, or bending your foot on its side while grinding a curb :) Realistically though, the experience of having to stay 100% stable in a very unstable position probably has helped out with my ability to walk in heels. Now I just need to work on the front/back flexibility so I can take 'normal' steps for longer distances. Have fun Jim

  3. I used to have a Yamaha R6 motorcycle, and have worn thicker heeled boots while riding before.. control was not an issue, I had no problems riding 1/4-1/2 mile long standup wheelies wearing them :) been a couple years since I've had a bike, and I'm considering getting a dual sport.. and I've got some 2-1/2" rubber boots that would be perfect for a muddy ride. Have fun Jim

  4. I guess I made an impression at Fetish Factory several months ago when I stood up and walked a little in my size 9 devious ankle boots.. the sales guy was quick to point out that they now have knee high boots in stock... just my luck they have my (and his) size... *Grin* Currently wearing my new knee high boots, and they seem to provide even more stability for walking then the ankle boots.. Nice! Also, dropped off my TLSB ballet boots at a shoe repair shop they recomended.. a very nice older gentlemen who owns the shop was not surprised to see the boots, but seemed amazed that they were -mine-, and that I'd actually walked in them enough to wear out the heel tips. hehehe Oh well, hope your hollidays are happy Jim

  5. I can see why the Femm's are more dificult then the ballet boots to stand in, your foot's tilted back quite a bit. Definatly look like interesting shoes though, might be good for stretching your ankles so walking in bb's are easier :) Jim

  6. The little shoe box is most well known for being able to handle custom colors.. Qualifetish also handles custom orders, and are very pleasent to deal with.. I have a pair of thigh high's from them in red. Devious may be the only major mfg who does not handle custom orders. Good luck, let us know what the mfg's say. Jim

  7. Hrm.. not much from me recently.. been a bit busy with work and an illness in the family. Might see if I can set something up in the not too distant future... I have been poking around to find better ways for lightning inside the house, which is one of the roadblocks to good vid footage I've had. Seeya Jim

  8. When on a recent visit to Fetish Factory's shoe store the sales clerk about had a fit when she noticed me about to stand in a pair of their ballet heels.. she then fell silent as I not only didnt fall, break my ankle, or damage the shoes.. but rather stood, turned for the mirror, then sat back down.. They mentioned the last guy who tried on a pair in the store and attempted to stand could not get his foot vertical enough to stand and snapped the heel off forward against the toe area. They now know I'm a regular customer, and am more then willing to buy something if I make a mistake and damage their merchandice. Oh well Jim

  9. That would be my plan for the velcro :) I have a pair of 6" pumps that came with ankle straps/padlocks.. due to the velcro I disliked the straps and just used the padlocks for something else.. I can just wear a sturrup footed catsuit hooked over the heels to lock the footwear on. Jim

  10. Heya, I've got 4 pairs of Devious brand ballet boots, the type you are looking at. Due to their design they will actually support your for-foot so no weight will be on your toes. If your feet are not that wide I'd try the size 11, since I normally wear a size 9, and size 9's fit me perfectly. I can also wedge my feet into a size 7. Compare that to qualifetish brand boots where I cannot fit my foot into a size 8.

I also have a pair of size 10s, which are more comfortable for longer term wear, as long as I am not standing as much *Grin*.

So, if your feet are not that wide, I'd try a size 11, but if your feet are a little bit wider go for a 12.. either will probably work, its more of a question of how long you plan to wear the boots, and what you plan to try while wearing them.

Devious boots are the steepest of the brands of ballet boots.. so they are not the easiest to walk in, but they support your feet the best, so your toes are not the weak link, your ankle is :)

Have fun, any more questions please feel free to ask them here, or to jim@balletboots.net

  11. Heya, just thought I might share someone else's view who's into high heel cowboy boots.. names withheld.. but I can tell you where the group is if you want.. Enjoy

    Ikin tell ya

what it's like to wear HHBs.

First, it's like yer standin on tiptoe. It really

puts you off balance at first, but then you learn to

lean back on the heels, bend yer knees a little, and

    go with it.

If the boots don't fit right, they'll cramp yer toes.

Now that's not good unless that's what yer into. Hee

    Hee.

Me, I'm not. I jist like the feelin of bein a little

above everybody else and havin that swagger that

    wearin hhb gives you.

If yer a cowboy, it's easy to walk bowlegged like

you've been ahorseback all yer live, and you have to

    take little bitty steps.

The thang I love about it is that yer reminded every

second of whut yer awearin, and you feel it all

through yer body. SHEEEIIIIIITTT, it makes me hard

    jist thankin about it.

Yup. It's hard to walk. And if you have to stand fer

a considerable amount of time, it starts to make you

feel it everywhere. <eg> If ya happen to git put in

a cage that won't let ya move or sit, you'll git to

enjoy em a whole lot more even.

Now, iff ya want to walk down the street and look like

Mick Jagger in cowboy clothes, just start off and take

big giant steps. Soon you'll be doin a "Mr. Natural"

type gait and folks'll be lookin at ya and thankin

"SHEEIIITTT" there goes Mr. Natural! Hee Hee.

Walkin in super high heels has its punishments and its

rewards. The best reward is in the punishment. See

if ya kin figger that one out!!!

  12. Well, it was mostly an exercise in theory anyways. The boots are much quieter, with only a tiny amount of noise when the ball of the foot hits the ground. Unfortunatly the extra 1/4" was definatly noticed. After about a mile or so of walking (Largest mall in Florida, laid out in a straight line, horrible parking) I was feeling it in my feet.. I'd gotten a couple of confused looks from those who were 'people watching', but thats about it. I'd originally gone in to go shopping for jeans with a little more room at the bottom.. After trying a few pairs, I'm considering wearing these boots out with jeans that end around the ankle area.. Although, I may only do so when with people I know.. I will get the heel tips profesionally replaced first :-? I may also try some distance walking in 3-3.5 inch heels first, since 2.5" heels seem to be no problem. I'll keep you posted if I find boots that fit the bill. Have fun everyone Jim

  13. Well, last night I superglued 1/4" thick rubber to the heels of my Tommy Hilfigur boots, and you can feel the increase from 4 to 4-1/4 inches. There is also a -very- noticable reduction in noise. I tested them out last night a bit by wandering around my neighborhood. I plan to test out their durability at the Sawgrass Mills mall in Ft Lauderdale in a couple hours. I may look into getting the heels profesionally replaced if these do not hold up well. Seeya Jim

  14. "firefox: I get the impression that certain parts of the USA are very countrified, religious, and traditional values reign supreme; like they have not seen many people from out of town. "

The evening news has been calling those areas "the red states" in reference to the last presidential election.

I am amazed when I travel to some areas.. most notably northwest florida, and central Wisconsin that the talk radio stations tend to spend most of their time discussing the evils of both abortion and homosexuality. Listening to them you'd think that our country is about to be wiped out due to these topics, and it concerns me that they may actually feel that way.

    Odd..

Btw, I have gone shoe shopping in heels recently.. wore my 4" Tommy Hilfigur boots with longer jeans while shopping for these boots

Unfortunatly I could not find them in stores.. so I had to order them. Very interesting boots, quite flexible, but they are fun to wear while doing yard work *Grin*

Not 100% in the topic, sorry :-?

    Jim

  15. The problem is, you can stuff more explosives into the hollowed out bottom of a pair of running shoes then Gene's Franco Sarto's.. Kiss style platforms, ok.. yea.. The guard may not have personally liked what he saw, and figured he would embarass Gene into not coming back. Doubt that tactic will work :-? Seeya Jim

  16. I've got a pair of boots from Tommy Hilfigur that would possibly work well.

    Posted ImagePosted Image

The front of the foot is similer to a cowboy boot, and they are very comfortable to walk in. Just a hair noisy though, not sure if that would be a problem.

    Congrats btw,

    Jim

PS: how about wearing your ballet boots durring the ceremony?

  17. Well, last weekend I finally got around to ordering a pair in black. I'd given up on trying to find them in the stores. I am quite pleased with them so far :-? They are very comfortable to walk in, and fit nicely up my calves, too bad the rain season is over, although we could do without the 4 hurricains in FL next year. I'll get pics up soon. Jim
