I'd pay more for a quality pair of heels that I'd plan to wear more. I recently purchased 2 pairs of boots made by Cole Haan, G-series.. kind of a blend of Cole Haan and Nike. One pair had one slight design fault for my foot shape, but with a mild modefication they are more comfortable to walk in then lower, cheaper heels. Wore my 4" heels while in Key West for work.. but not while working
I plan to bring them with me while wandering duval street for 3 nights with my b/f and 2 other friends. And with alot of walking you want comfort.
Btw, these boots retailed for close to $400.. but I got them on clearance for $60. I also have a pair of slip on cole-haans with 4" heels that retailed for $229.. picked up for $19.50...
Quality does not always come with high price when you know where to look
I've also paid $500 for a pair of thigh high boots that I cannot wear outside of the house. *Grin* but I -LOVE- those boots
Oh well
For me, is quality and comfort worth the price? Yes. But they have to be exceptional for me to spend a couple of hundred for a pair.
The value has to be there.

My b/f just got burned by some guy over $400.. he tried to buy a drysuit from someone who was getting called back into military duty. He sent $400 for the drysuit to be sent, and the last $100 was to be sent after recieving the suit. The suit was not sent, and the guy's already left for service. It's unfortunate that one of our military guys would do this. Whats also unfortunate is the level of retribution we could bring on this guy if we so choose. Oh yea, my original point is that pay pal refuses to refund the money since he already closed his account. So their $15 buyer protection is not worth half a damn. Jim

Not female here, although this is definatly an interesting theory. Probably best suited for the "for everybody" thread.. as most women probably skip the "for the guys" thread seeya Jim

Thank you very much. Unfortunatly things have been a bit hectic the last couple years so updates have not been as frequent as I'd like. Nor have I had a chance to wear my bb's quite as often as I'd like
So, what sort of heels are in your collection? I've got 3 pairs of ankle high bb's, 2 pairs of knee highs, and 2 pairs of thigh highs.
I also have a few pairs of misc heels, including some 4" boots that are quite comfortable, and I'm working on wearing them in public more often.
I've had ballet heels for over 4 years now.. started with a knee high pair from The Little Shoe Box.

I intended to photograph the process in order to document it, but unfortunatly my camera was not avaliable, and I needed to take advantage of the time I had to do the work. Cole Haan's G-series of shoes/boots came about after Nike purchased Cole Haan, and Nike decided that they could improve on CH's handmade designs. The boots in question actually appear to have a one piece footbed/heel. The material is a translucent/tan color, and resembles the resin for fiberglass. This only extends down to the start of the forefoot(?), and the front of the boot is constructed more like a pair of sneakers, including the "Nike Air" logo. This is only the second pair built like this the cobbler I used had ever seen. The shape of the footbed was set for a much narrower footbone structure then mine, so when I walked the outer edges would poke at me. The height of the edges was maybe 3/16", but thats enough to iritate after a short while. I removed the leather strip that covered the epoxy, and using a couple of diferent sized carbide spherical grinders I essentially had to flatten the edge down. The leather of the boot above the footbed was not directly attached to the edge, so now when I wear the boots they are very comfortable, with an arch that fits my foot quite well. These are 4" heels, and they are more comfortable and are easier to walk in then alot of 3" heels I have tried. I also just picked up another pair of 4" g-series 'booties'. These are ankle high slip on models, found on clearance for $78, but with a 75% off tag..These were stuck under the shelves, probabbly hidden by someone else
This pair does not have the problem with the footbed, and the heel height and arch are quite comfortable. Unfortunatly the room in the top of the arch is not adequet, and I may need to see if I can get these stretched a little. I now have my camera back, but do not have time this morning to post photos.
If this doesnt help I'll put up some pics later today.

Aw come on.. you didnt let them get away with walking while their knee's are bent 45 degree's? I have a pair of 6" heels that I flat don't walk in since I cannot even stand without bending my knees.. Instead of wasting my time and damaging the heels I'll wait till I can at least stand correctly in them, then work my way to walking normally. Glad to see you're doing good. Keep up the great work! Jim

My Valentine ok.. 2 words.. fits today though

Ok, yes.. confusing subject line. Although considering the tools used it fits. I purchased a pair of Cole Haan G-series boots from Neiman-Marcus/Last call at a considerable discount. I like the boots, unfortunatly the inner footbed from the heel to the start of the ball of the foot was formed from a composit, and not quite the right width for my foot. A cobbler was unwilling to try to modify them, understandably.. and heel pads were only a temp solution, and did not provide a satisfactory solution. I had to widen the area for my foot, or get rid of the sides. I have access to air tools, and carbide bits normally used to do very precise, and expencive work on engine parts.. aka 'porting'... These tools worked excelently to remove the trouble spots
I now have a very comfortable pair of 4" heel boots that I intend to wear in early march while in Key West on vacation with my b/f and a couple friends.
I'll let you know how I hold up after a few hours of partying while in these boots. :drinking:

I wish for the best, although I highly suspect it would take alot more then this to keep you down for long. Have a speedy recovery Jim

I was in New Orleans a few months ago for work, saw a guy who worked in the local goth type store walking home after his shift in probably 4" chunky heeled boots. I'd have worn heels while on my own time, but the only one's I had with me were 5" boots.. and Bourbon St is not a good place to push your limits on unsteady heels. Oh well, should have gotten the 3" Harley Davidson boots, since I couldnt find a shoe store elsewhere... Jim

First pair were 3" pumps from Payless. Didnt really have a problem walking in them, but I was 16 and very nervous buying them. Seeya Jim

Sounds like a great start, hopefully everything works out well for the two of you

My mom sorta gave up at some point. She stopped trying to find out what I'm into, but is glad to see I am in a happy, healthy relationship with someone who cares a great deal for me. This is years after she tried profesionals and medication to get me to be 'normal'... Life can be stressfull, but you can learn from what causes you problems. Unless you are a danger to yourself or others I see no need for 'correction'. Btw.. one friends mom was so paranoid she hired a private detective to follow me around. He told her that I am probably gay. "no shit" heh Seeya Jim

Ok, another spinoff show.. but this one had a cute "hip tip" at the end. The fashion guy mentioned to have your plastic heel tips replaced with rubber for safety, said while wearing 4-4.5" heels. Might wait to see if he wears heels more often in the show. Jim

I have worn 5" heels while bar hopping downtown, but that didnt require much more then 1/4 mile of walking at a time. I can handle good 4" boots for a while without a problem. I have a pair of 6" heels, and with my small feet I end up with an ankle bent further back then with some of my ballet heels
Btw.. I can't go more then a hundred feet or so in ballet heels without my toes paying the price, so I'd count those out.

Heya everyone, I just noticed that I'm wearing the outer edge of my heels more then any other spot. A little history, I used to do inline skating stunts..the basic ones require the food to bend inward, so I have more flexibility one direction then the other. Quite visible when wearing ballet heels, but I thought it wouldnt hold through other heel heights. if anyone has any suggestions I'm open for comments... Thanks! Jim

I've noticed the posters at fashionspot feel he can pull off any look.. Considering I am in his area alot.. like tomorow morning.. I should say hi, see what he, or other 'fashionistas' think it takes for guys to pull off heels.

yea, between 3/4 and 1" wide. They zip up the sides so you can set the fit with the laces, then take them on/off whenever you want. As far as the issue with the shape of the insole, I decided to try adding in the insoles from a pair of puma speedcats I have not worn in a bit to try to fill in the space, and keep the sides from poking me. I'll be heading out to get some egg's for breakfast and plan to wear these boots while doing so
I'll keep you updated.

micha: as far as wedges being a first step, I agree. They let you put some miles on heels before you add in the factor that people can see the heels you wear. once you are confident in yourself while wearing heels, then you can add in visibility wihout a problem. Good luck with your boots Jim

Heya guys. Took a field trip to Neiman Marcus Last Call in Fort Lauderdale. They often have a selection of heels that are 3"+, and give me a chance to try out some very high end heels, since I'm usually a bit shy to ask a sales person to try a $700 pair I do not intend to buy.
I did find a pair of Cole Haan G-series boots, knee high with lace/zip and a 4" heel. The lacing is very close and at the time was as tight as it could be, so even unzipped I could not try them out. While spending a few minutes adjusting the lacing to try the boots out I realised I was being shadowed by 2 seperate employees (Aww.. I'm special *grin*). I did finally get to try them out, and was very impressed

The heel height is very comfortable, and the ball of the foot is stamped "Nike Air", and is quite comfortable, with plenty of traction due to it being very similer to a sneaker. The heel noise is not bad.
They were discounted to $122, but due to a store wide sale, $61. Bonus! Not bad considering similer models list for $400.

Unfortunatly the whole boot pics I took are not flattering, and I will try to find them somewhere else on the net. Don't mind that pair of jeans, they are dirty from work.
The only concern I have after a few hours worth of wear is that the insole is shaped with a bit of a curve, and is curved a bit too close for my foot. I'll keep you updated on how that works.
I do plan to crash with a friend of mine next tuesday, and might wear these while out and about in Miami. Pics to come

Jeff: Actually.. one of my favorite stores is Neiman Marcus Last Call.. when you find a nice pair of shoes/boots not only marked down, but with an additional 75% off tag, the price is usually -very- reasonable.
Oh yea, one other aspect of pricy shoes.. exclusivity. Chances are most other people will not spend $1000 on a pair of pumps, so there is a good chance your's will be unique. If money is an issue and you want to be diferent that can be a way to play the game.
