  1. I spent a week or so in total in the french quarter for work.. Isn't the Dark Entry the late night bar? I remember waking up early one morning to go check it out. heh There are not too many places to buy heels in the quarter except for one stripper type shop.. I was disapointed since I was trying to find a good 2.5-4" pair to wear around, since my 5" knee boots were too psycotic on Bourbon's sidewalks. I'm hoping I just overlooked a good store, since I may end up back there at some point. Jim

  2. It looks like punitive shoes uses european sizing (finally got around to looking).. but considering I've fit from a size 39-41, depending on brand, I'm not sure how much help a conversion chart will be. I would be very curious to see how you like the Punitive shoes ballet boots, as I've yet to try theirs out. Jim (aka rockpup)

  3. Sounds like things are going great, the look with the blue boots must be quite interesting :P We might have to chip in to get you a camera at some point. I recently drove to Savanah GA (9 hours up, 11 hours back) while wearing a pair of 4" heel boots and jeans. I did remove my boots when I got up there since I was staying with the customer, and did not want to cause an issue. I made several stops heading up/back and didnt have a single problem. I was glad to see the brown suede had no problems with a bit of rain I encountered on the way back. Next step is to wear my thigh boots for that sort of trip.. But since it's boiling hot out as it is, I'll wait till winter. Trying to figure out a pair of heels I can wear with shorts at this point. Seeya Jim

  4. Ok, I've yet to see a photo online that does these boots justice. Guess I'll have to get a picture of them worn somewhere in public :P I do like the fact that they are not cookie cutter heels, as I've never seen a pair like these elsewhere either. It's not dificult where I live, since it appears to be in a fashion black hole. Have fun guys, I'll keep you updated. Jim

  5. Realise I will butcher names in this post. Hrm.. Macalan cask strength, on the rocks with a shot of water is quite good, also had good luck with Glenmorangie port wood finish is also a good choise. I got lucky a few years back and picked up some 18 year Macalan for less then $100, but at the time that was the only scotch I'd ever had.. and made sure that it would only be the first drink, since after a few drinks the subtleties are lost. I have some Laphoraig.. not much for the cooked peat taste. Oh well I also like Irish whisky (mom was a Flynn), Favorites include aged bushmills 10, 16, and (currently on the shelf) 21 year. Tullamore Dew, both regular and 12 year. Jameson reg and 18 year. I also enjoy Jager shots.. and mixed I like Jack Danials and Makers Mark. If I am feeling cheap I just go for Captain Morgan, never liked the taste of Bacardi *shrug* I have shipped a bottle of Tequila to a friend since I could not stand the taste, but knew she would enjoy it. I have 2 bottles of Golden grain from GA, but only use it for disinfecting and cleaning the grill at this point. I'll end the post at this point and give my liver a little breather :P Have fun guys Jim

  6. Ok, while traveling up to Tallahassee I decided to take a detour through Orlando and stop at the Cole Haan outlet there. I was pleased to find the brown/red version of the grindlewald boots there in a few sizes. Posted Image I first grabbed the pair in size 9, same as my black pair, and was disapointed to see that the price was about $70 higher for that pair then the other sizes. I tried them on and noticed I would have the same issue with the footbed not fitting my feet as I had with my black boots. Somewhat dismayed I grabed the size 10's next, and with other tourists filling the back of the store where I was I took several minutes to re-lace the boots, as someone must not have noticed the zipper.. and I wanted to check out what the pair felt/looked like before I set down $100 for another pair of similer boots. I will say the 10's fit -alot- better :P They do not dig into my feet like the smaller size did, and while the brown looks a shade or so darker then that photo, they happen to 100% match the color of the shirt I was wearing.. including some red details :P

I did change into them after leaving the store and walked back to my vehicle to drive the last 4 hours wearing these, including a stop at a home depot in Ocala, where no-one even seemed to pay attention. (shoulda worn my thigh boots, eh?)

I'll keep you guys updated, I think with a little work my current outfit might just be a keeper for nights I end up staying in Miami and hit Miami beach with a friend.

    Seeya!

  7. Very nice boots! A well designed 4" heel can be quite comfortable. I have a pair of nice 4" heel boots, and compared to a 3" pair of wedge sneakers the boots are far more comfortable to walk in. My feet cramp up in the sneakers. Oh well Good luck with the boots, I hope you let us know of any adventures you go on while wearing them :P Jim

  8. I was in New Orleans a couple of times for business, and never did find a great place to shop for heels. Hopefully someone can help out with a gem of a shop for any of us who happen to visit the area :P Btw, if you do spend any time on bourbon St, the fact you are not too interested in 5" heels will do you well. I almost twisted my ankle wearing flat shoes.. and the only heels I had with me were 5", so I really didnt get to do any street heeling while down there. Good luck! Jim

  9. Thank you! These are by far the most comfortable to walk in heels I've owned yet. I actually have wiggle room for my toes, yet they are just a little snug, but not tight on the uper arch of my foot. Need to get either some very thin trouser socks, or nylons for these :P Might just wear them to Sawgrass mills tomorow to shop for matching clothing. Seeya Jim

  10. Yea, the top pair are more comfortable too.. but the lower pair were only $19.50.. not to mention -very- quiet... which is usefull.. a closer photo of the top boots are in the "Clothing recomendation for burgendy boots" thread.. but it turns out they are not technically burgendy. They also do not look brown to me.. dunno. Thanks for the compliment :P Jim

  11. Hey guys, not to seem obsessed with the G-series boots by cole haan.. but I found another pair that I find very comfortable, and availiable locally :P

    Posted Image

The boots I am looking at are not black, but a dark burgendy, and I'm not really sure if I have anything that would match them.

Had to reach a point in my heel'ing where I am comfortable enough going out in public that I'm trying to be fashion concious :P

If I run into the black one's somewhere I can match em a bit easier. oh well.

    Any thoughts?

    Jim

  12. Very very very odd behavour.. I've seen stores where they have one shoe in my size.. "but I think we threw away the other one" Shit, give them to charity and take the tax write off on either retail, or wholesale value of the clothing/shoes. Or, as I've seen.. mark them down to the point its pennies on the dollar to keep customers happy and returning. jim

  13. Finally found the name of this model of boot! Grindelwald , that is the link to Nordstroms's old page for those boots.

Once again, I do not have that color, mine are black leather. Although If I run into the brown suede one's I'll be very tempted to pick them up.

I wore these boots while on a shopping trip in Fort Lauderdale last night. Just about 2 hours of wandering around Sawgrass mills mall.. including a couple of longer distance strolls. No real problems last night, and my feet are not sore today.

This is doing well for me, I usually do not wear 4" heels that exposed, nor for that much time. Even while shoe shopping in about 6 stores :P

I'll post more pics tonight hopefully, including my recent modefications to these boots, and my new ankle high boots with a chunkier, but same height heel.

    Seeya

  14. I'm 5'7" without heels.. although with my recent excursions wearing 4" heels I've noticed a bit of adjustment I've had to make when close to 6' tall. Alot of things are not as close as they used to be, and I can still only reach up as high as I could before :P Oh well.. I did have a friend ask me the other day if I've grown of if he's shrunk. Jim

  15. Absolutly nothing wrong with wearing payless heels if they fit the bill. I'm still waiting to find a pair of their heeled sneaker/boots they had on their website. Although even for $20 heels I'd rather check them out in person then bother with ordering them. Oh yea, I passed on buying a pair of 3" pumps for $1.98 yesterday. Didnt like the look, and they were not comfortable. I did recently get a pair of 3" boots from Burlington Coat Factory.. $13 or so.. after 2 hours of wearing them I threw them out since after a little while they hurt my feet. Oh well Jim

  16. Ballet dancers will spend years finding shoes that fit their feet, and some have been known to retire when their shoe maker retires. Ballet boots are sized with less precision then pointe shoes. You cannot run down to your local fetish shop and pick up a pair, in stock, that match your foot shape, width, length, etc perfectly. Do not expect ballet boots to be comfortable for longer periods of wear, even if you do not walk around in them. If the boots are loose, the first step may be to find thicker socks, or multiple.. I've even worn neoprene dive socks. This will help use the structure of the boot to support alot of your weight with the arch and heel of your foot, relieving some of the stress on your toes. I have a couple of pairs from Devious that do not put any weight on my toes, unfortunatly the toe area of the boot for my first pair has collapsed a bit. Next up, padding for your toes. This is going to be personal preference. Try anything you can get your hands on. Wool, cotton, polyfill, foam pads, gell pads, etc. Something might work for you. Although what combination works best for you may not work at all for someone else. If you are worried about causing damage to your feet from wearing ballet heels, I'd suspect that other then an extreme massocist, most people will stop walking in their ballet heels due to pain before their feet get permanently modified. Foot binding took many years of constant binding to occur.. Most people might wear their ballet heels a few hours a week... Just a few thoughts Jim

  17. Why couldnt jeff wear the boots under his work pants? The co-workers who notice will only know they are boots. And he can always side step the conversation if someone is likely to dislike the height of the boot shafts. That, or Jeff could switch from sneakers to these boots for the morning commute :P Good luck with them, I'm sure you will find plenty of time to wear them. Jim

  18. I do not have kids, but even living alone I've had weeks where I was not sure if I had enough money for food for the week.. Rice is quite cheap.. never have tried ramen noodles. Oh well. At that time I could not belive that anyone would spend $100, let alone $1000 on a pair of shoes. I'm doing a little better now, but I still hold that even if a pair of shoes are the most comfortable, and best looking heels I've ever seen, I will not pay much for them if I do not think I'll get value out of them. If I do not plan to wear them, then I have no use for them. Last night I got alot of use out of a pair of Cole-Haan's that I paid ~$70 for on sale, and even wearing jeans that exposed the heel and Sawgrass mall's new -loud- wood flooring I had nothing but good experiences while shopping for a couple of hours. More on the story in another thread. In the past a $10 pair of pumps from payless that never saw the light of day was fine. Now I'm looking at well made, comfortable 4" boots that may be worn while wandering around on my off time in public.. Although I did pass on a $298 pair when I saw the price tag :P even passed on them when I found out they were 60% off.. Jim
