  1. Eager2heel: It takes quite a while to build up the ability to walk in higher heels. Finding a pair that really fits your feet can take a bit of trial and error. After trying a few hundred pairs you start to know what will or will not work quickly.

  2. Sleekheels: Yea, was a good experience, encouraging for future shopping trips for sure. The Galleryy was tried more because they were there, and they were a little higher then the pumps I have now. To be honest, they look/feel more like Pleaser Seduce pumps then non fetish shop shoes. *shrug*

I might grab the Newbee's and wear them a little to see if they break in, or return them if my feet ache in 20 minutes.

  3. Ok, posting this here since I might still go back tomorrow to pick up the Newbee pair.

Stopped by two Steve Madden shops today, looking to try a pair of pumps I've had my eyes on. They are the Newbee model (higher pair), and are listed with a 4.75" heel, and one option is black leather. I've been looking for a pair of black leather pumps that are taller then my Ash's, so..

First shop, I was near downtown Miami so I boogied on over to South Beach figuring the dense gay/TG population might make for smoother sailing as this was my first time to get fitted for pumps by a salesperson. I saw the store was very busy so I wandered over to the Nine West shop a few doors down, and found nothing interesting :(

I headed back and saw of the two sales people, there was a smaller lady, and a tall/muscular guy. The guy seemed busy but the lady suddenly went to the back, so while holding the pump he asked if I needed help. I requested a 10 in Newbee and Galleryy, as most other brands fit fine in that size, and he came out with the Galleryy, but said he did not have Newbee in my size. He proceed to show he brought out two other options, both platforms, and asked if they were for my wife, then girlfriend, and seemed surprised when I said they were for me, but after the initial surprise he was fine. I tried the Galleryy and found them too large. I had gotten word of an emergency job so I thanked him and went to do my job.

After that I hit another mall in Boca Raton. This is a very high end mall, and this store was even busier, with the one semi private bench to try shoes on being used for a job interview (in retrospect, I should have used that one, break in the new sales girl with a bang). I asked a sales lady about both models in 9-9.5. She had the Newbee in 9, and Galleryy in both. She also set them on a bench and handed me one to try on without prompting :D I was somewhat surprised that none of the other shoppers even batted an eye when I put them on and looked in the mirror. They seem easy to walk in, well designed.

The 9's are a bit snug, but seem to be even pressure around my feet, the 9's in the Galleryy were too small, and 9.5's too big, so I do not have much hope on the Newbee in 9.5. I may grab them, and wear them around carpeted areas to see if the Newbee's break in a bit and become comfortable, or if 20 minutes after wearing them my feet will just start to ache.

So endith my first trip to get fitted for pumps. I wore slim fit jeans with my Adidas wedge sneakers, and knee high tights so the fit of the pumps would be right. Oh well. Boot season is coming up soon, so will have to go get a nice pair at some point this fall.

  4. My next step is extending my endurance in 4-4.75" heels, hopefully being able to spend a day out and about in my Diesel Travis and Persis as well as Steve Madden Devil ankle boots. :)

So far a quick run into the grocery store is my endurance limit on the Steve Maddens, but I've been wearing them around the house.

  5. Man.. I need to drive down to Florida and go shopping with you. You find all this cool stuff at blow out prices.. ;)

I cover a very large area of Florida for work, and might find something like that one in twenty stops, but I keep trying. Usually go shopping while in heels, and the Sawgrass Mall in Fort Lauderdale is a great place to put in a couple miles on heels while inside air conditioning.

  6. I'd had my eyes on these Cole Haan 'Poppy' boots all year, but the $500 msrp was a no-go, so was 60% off at $200, and even hesitated at $100. Patience paid off this time, found them 90% off! Only shopped for lunch at grocery store in them so far, but they are comfortable and quieter then any non wedge Cole Haans. I think I am going to be happy :)
