Perhaps noticed by some but most people go around in their own bubbles. I reckon you could trudge down the street in a deep sea diving suit and a good third of passers-by wouldn’t notice a thing
And the main reason is: everybody is looking at their smartphones! 😈

Well, there is a constitution, which was influenced a lot by the allies after the war. That constitution limits our war efforts for a good reason. The Bundeswehr only has the right to defend the own country within its boundaries. The german parliament did a wide stretch and some strange wording (armed conflict instead of war for example, or "protecting" Germany in Kundus) to enable the sorties in Afghanistan or Croatia or Africa. We, especially the generation born after WWII have been brainwashed to dislike any war effort. But now we are on our (slow) way to increase spending for the armed forces and reshaping them, because what we have was aimed at tank battles with the Warsaw Pact.

If you go outside in anything that is not the usual clothing people wear you will get noticed, but not necessarily commented on.

It's possible that the German authorities police these things better than in the UK. Here it's largely driven by complaints to overworked Trading Standards organisations. There is little or no pro-active enforcement.
The same problem here in Germany, flooded by chinese stuff without control. But what i noticed during the last 2 or 3 years is an increase in the quality of some of that stuff. The Chinese are learning at an astonishing pace.

As I recall Apple ran a test last year and found something like 90% of the cables, connectors, chargers, batteries, etc sold on Amazon and EBay and the like were fakes, and nearly all of those came from China.
Can you provide a link to that test? Very interesting!

Electonics ordered cheaply from China are nearly always counterfeit - and often dangerous.
That was the culprit some years ago, but in the meantime? 🤔

Germans are weird.
We sure are. And we are not uniform, there is a large spektrum from the far (violent) left to the far (violent) right. We even have a large Jewish Community living in Germany despite what happened in the past. In fact my grandfather was jewish, so my father was not drafted (he was called "not worth to serve") into the Wehrmacht. Instead he was pressed into forced labour, taken from school one day without even noticing my grandmother. He then build bunkers for the Atlantic Wall in France, living like a prisoner with no contact to the outer world. My Grandmother did not know he was alive until he showed up after the war. So if your father or grandfather stormed a bunker at Omaha Beach it was build by my father .....
But despite our widespread spektrum of hardliners most of us are kind of middle class, not to many poor people, not to many rich people, which makes living along quite easy in this country. I am not proud of being german, i did nothing to become one. But i consider myself lucky to be born in a country which is functioning quite well and in a climate which is not to extreme, but still has spring, summer, autumn and winter.

I find it crazy what you can order from China and get it shipped here for a couple dollars. I ordered a cell phone charger on eBay from a Chinese seller. It shipped from China and took 2-3 weeks to arrive, all for $3.50. I am guessing is was a counterfeit, maybe not, but either way manufacture it and ship it half way around the world for $3.50. If I were to ship it across the street it would cost me close to $10.
Often the actual shipping duration is less than the time the goods spend to clear customs. They arrive in Frankfurt after 3 or 4 days, then sit with customs for 2 weeks.

90 degrees south, now that would be interesting, and fun.... I was at the Arctic Circle (66 North) in AK a few years ago, the wife was looking for the "line" marking the circle, I thought she was kidding, sadly not. ha ha... The stars are all different at those high latitudes.
A riddle: You are in a house, all the walls face south. A bear walks by, what color is the bear? Should be easy given the earlier "hints."
It is not only a riddle, it is an actual problem for aircraft flying over the pole. To overcome this problem "Grid Navigation" can be used instead of true north.
