    Cali,

Don't you live on the Central California coast? What I remember from my days in the Bay area, I'm also a COOP observer with the National Weather Service, is little precipitation in April and September and none at all from May through August. Were you way up the coast in Oregon or Washington? I do agree wearing a boot makes sense during rain though.

It rained yesterday. Just enough to cause problems.

But you wouldn't know anything about hills in San Francisco, right? In fact, I don't even know how you do it. Hard core as I am, I don't think I'd wear heels while visiting San Francisco. Horrors!

You don't walk up and down some of those streets. Most of the people who walk up and down those streets are tourist, not the people of SF. Most of SF is flat or relatively flat (waterfront, business district). But I've walked Chinatown in heels several times. You just have to be careful to avoid going down steep streets.

Horror is walking across newly installed turf or a gravel road in stiletto heels.

  3. I thought I would place this story from today's shopping here.

I went heel shopping today, normal once a month activity to see what new in the local stores, tried one on in one store but didn't fit.  Then went next door to another store. I asked to look at the their highest heels. At first they looked at me funny, then they saw I had high heels on, their next question was, what size. The SA went around showing me their highest pairs. None high enough for my needs. As I was exiting the small store the SA and I chatted a while (empty store and it was getting ready to rain). She loves high heels and liked how high mine where. She was complaining that women are wimps and give up to easily with the higher heels.  They can't sell heels as high as I want, not enough of a market. I never had a woman call other women wimps over heels.

  4. When I got my first heels, BareTraps with 1 1/2 inch heels I hated the click. I felt it was pointing out I had heels on. Not that I wear 4 + inch heels and it is obvious I have high heels on I enjoy the click, the "power click". Even some high end men's shoes now have that "power click" for that executive touch.

My Charles by Charles David  Apollo came yesterday, haven't taken them out of the box yet. :)

We get one or two days of rain a summer on the Monterey Bay coast. Not much, just enough to lift the oil off the roads and cause accidents. However it gives me the perfect opportunity to wear my calf high boots with my shorts. That look always get hundreds of triple takes and open mouth expressions. (Maybe it might give meganiwish a nightmare.)

  6. I ain't paying for anything, not even for attention. I wear high heels, I get enough attention as it is for free. I'm that crazy professional that doesn't wear nooses but wears shorts and bikinis with my heels. Look for my gardening in heels pictures.

They actually keep the engine heat off my legs in traffic so I keep them on.  If I should go down I'd rather have the leather scrape the pavement than my skin.  I had that happen once years ago and believe it or not I was able to restore the finish of them.  The doctor said my skin wouldn't have fared so well.  In Texas a lot of folks wear them all year anyway.

Not to mention the occasional rattle snake.

what to wear?!!!  my gal pal said:  wear something sexy!

They want to see you in your heels. So I would oblige them and wear one of my highest and nicest heels. Jeans. Your gal pal can tell more.

  9. Great story. Do the strap go around only once or more than once?

Up escalators and stairs are the place where your heels are the most visible. Not only are they higher than normal, but the person behind you is looking down for where the next step is.
