I know it's been said here many many times, but I just want to echo what's been hollered all over the place....... If you're going to do any sort of alternative fashion - whether it be heels, clothes, makeup, nails, whatever....if you want to do it, then just DO it already! You can be flashy, you can be professional, you can be however you want to be, because it's just outer layers on top of your body - it's how you put it all together, paired with your confidence that makes or breaks the look. The ladies have been doing this for years, and have never had a problem. The harder hurdle is going the other way, but it can be done. There is nothing that says you can't pull off a new look as long as you go about it seriously. One thing to keep in mind, is that people will notice - yes, they do. Of course they will. Anything that doesn't look like anything else will attract attention - it always does and always will. The trick is to not really care. You made the decision, you made the effort, and the only question you should ask yourself is.........do you want to do it? If so, then just GO already and DO it! Nothing is gained by being just a sheep in the herd. I've found some nice moderate styles in my clothing that lets me complement my existing wardrobe with my own personal taste, and it's worked wonders - both appearance-wise, and boosted my own self-esteem. I didn't notice it at first outside of my own willpower and just not caring what others think, but my friends have told me I'm a lot happier these days, and more relaxed. It really does do wonders for one's self-worth. I do feel much better this year, and think things are continuing to fall into place. And my happiness? It's continuing to climb as well! For me, this was definitely the right thing to do.

I've already worn them all over town the past couple of days, and they really wear well! Definitely another fave pair for my collection. I've paired them with my flare jeans, and they show the perfect amount - full heel in view to boot!
-
I just got them in the mail this morning, so of course I had to slip them on! OH MY GAWD how comfy and stylin! I love the way they feel, and they go so well with my flare jeans! Definitely another favourite!

That boot just oozes style and comfort - love it! I have the ankle-high version of that heel from them, and I think I wear them the most. Watch how quickly the heel taps wear out though. Did they include an extra pair with yours?

I just like styles that don't scream "hooker shoes" all the time - they're a bit unusual, and I like the moderate heel height. I searched on zappos.com, and they have more styles by the "Annie" brand, but nothing in 13W (or 13WW) - so I'm thinking this seller got a lucky break by finding some, because the same seller has 2 more pairs by the same brand for sale now on eBay too - may be worth checking into, since I got mine :-) The seller will be shipping by priority mail, so they'll be here next week - will have an update once I have them on.

Hi Andi! If I do, I surely will, but I definitely will be giving them a fair workout in the meantime :-) Might be some time before I tire of them, as they look awesome.

I just snagged these beauties off of eBay this morning, beating out my competition by $.01, but it was worth getting up early for. I guess some people just put in their bid and then go off to work or whatever, so if you reeeeally want something, it's worth waiting for if you can.
Since good 13-14 heels are hard to find on eBay that don't look like CFM pumps & boots, the rare ones are just that much more desirable. I'll have an update once they arrive in the mail.

Every single day! I love it! Experimenting with different colours is always a blast :-)

The only thing that would be sweeter would be if they put up a sign saying they carry up to size 14! Heck, I'd probably fall over in shock at that point - and that takes a lot.

Yesterday was kinda fun and funny in some parts, as I decided to wear my Moda Spana slingbacks to work since it was a slow day, and under jeans, they look like ivory-coloured boots. The sad part is the footbed lining is very weak and started to curl up during the day, so when I took them off at night, they started to separate inside (this is that lining that your foot is on top of - kinda like the pre-made insole) - rather disappointing for a brand that's supposedly good fashion, but oh well - they still wear well.
For the first time in over 5 months, last night, one of my friends asked me if I was wearing "girlie shoes", which I kinda had to chuckle to, as I told her I always wear heels. I guess the slightly narrower toebox kinda made her think twice. After that night, I realized they're not the most comfortable pair for long endurance anyway, so I'll just leave them in the weekend section. I'm working on acquiring some better boots soon anyway. You never know what works and what doesn't unless you experiment. I did buy some kick-butt 2 1/2" mary-janes from Payless for my weekend outings too, which were way too cute to pass up!
Does it dissuade me from wearing what I like? HECK NO - why should it? Why am I writing about it? I thought it was kind of funny. So it's back to my usual black 4-inchers, and thinking about when my 3D render finally finishes (it's at 80% after 24 hours, but it's a big frickin' print).
Okay, shameless self-plug here, but it's totally safe - it's art!
My 2009 calendar will be getting done either this month or next, so I'll post a direct link once it's done. For now, I have other stuff on my site at http://www.cafepress.com/sqpalace
Not much else new going on, so time to go get ready for yet another exciting day - heh - yeah, right. Glad I have some good books to read. *grin*

Those are really cool pants - almost a floor-sweeper skirt with a split in the middle. They have some wide-leg jeans almost like that which I was planning on getting soon as well, so I may apply some of these hints to that when the time comes. Glad you like yours! Just be glad your heels don't talk like Hamma-man's shoes did in his short-lived Sat morning cartoon show

Lots of patience and good quality polish! I'm spoiled on OPI and China Glaze, as they coat really well (OPI has the wide brush too). Good luck!!!

It's quite all right, jojo....don't sweat it. As much as I'd love to take credit for the length, it's all my fave nail technician's doing. I do love painting them up though! :-)

Looks interesting, although in my experience with Pleaser brand, I usually have to order one size higher than I normally do, but that might just be those of us with wider feet. Looks nice though.

Thanks! I was amazed they turned out at all, but I wasn't happy after a day, and had to re-do them. I did the red base coat, then let it dry overnight. Then the next morning, did the gold, waited about an hour, then did the clear overcoat - the gold lines turned out much smoother this time, so I'm happier about it. As they say, practice makes better.......

Practice makes better, I always say......

Today's yet another fill day, so I get to try another colour on the rack. I'm actually hoping to find a nice copper colour today. We'll see what happens!
-
Not yet, but now that some of my more conservative heels are getting a real workout from daily use, it just might now be possible! Wow....who'da thunk that could be possible?
Sure beats just letting them collect dust in the closet. -

I have some, but my big toe seems to love that hole quite too much, so it kinda pops out on occasion. I guess it's why I stick to mainly closed-toe shoes.
-
Also, keep in mind with some who live over on the US side, any price you see in pounds is doubled with dollars as 1 pound = 2 dollars right about now. Makes those Leatherworks shoes just that much farther out of reach of some of us, sadly.
-
Now that is a really nice surprise to come home to. You're one lucky guy, raymond.nl! :-)

I mirror the sentiments of others before. If he comes to you about it, then be supportive - otherwise let him make his own fashion choices. Don't pressure him into it.
