  1. Today I decided to do something different (gee, what else is new?), and went with a two-colour approach. I did alternating fingers of "Teal the Cows Come Home" and "Kyoto Pearl", then did a coat of DS Shimmer over all of them, and then a clear topcoat - all OPI of course. It looks very wintery/Christmas-like. I think the only thing missing is some snowflakes over the blue nails - that would be perfect.

  2. If you ever go with a skirt - or even if you want to wear them with jeans and love the feel, go for the Seduce-2020 black leather boots! I have a pair myself, and they really feel good. Having a full 5" of towering heel under your foot will be definitely different from 4", so expect to put in some time practicing your walk and getting it down. Once you HAVE it down though, then rock 'em all the time!

  3. I think in the past few months, I've worn flat sneakers maybe a handful of times, while the rest I've been wearing my heels. It's become so second-nature no matter where I go, that I really don't give it much of a second thought. My Payless twist bootines continue to be my absolute favorites, as they are just the right height, and they just look way cool under jeans. I believe I have crossed the point of no return, although in the back of my mind, I did that some time ago. At this stage, I figure if they can't stand what they see, they don't have to look. I now feel like a kid in a candy store every time I go shoe shopping.

  4. It's a definite confidence booster to have a gf/bf who is very supportive of your heeling activities. As has been said all around, and it still echoes in the halls of this site - it's all about the confidence and not giving what you wear a second thought. After all......it's just shoes - right? :-)

  5. It's a fairly sizeable investment of time and money to make the lasts and get the right equipment to make your own shoes, but if you have the disposable income, it wouldn't be bad. I think many of us here though don't have quite that much free cash to play with.

  6. I would think some adhesive such as superglue would be best, but just be careful with it. There may be other alternatives that cobbler-types might suggest, but I don't know what else might work. I too had the same problem with the inner lining sliding/scrunching/lifting, and might do it to those to see how well it works.

  7. I think if I ever did a corset with my heels, it would have to be an overbust with steel boning, so that way it would push everything up and out, and make everything look just that much better. They are so expensive though, but someday I hope to have one!

  8. I think Johnieheel looks rather good in the pics he's posted, and like a segment of us here, some of are rather imposing in our heels (I'm 6'2" myself). Perhaps the admiration we all get is that we know what we like, we wear what we want, and have the confidence and style to pull it off. Bravo!

  9. I posted about this on my Livejournal, but I just wanted to get some more views on this, so here goes. This is copied from there: Splitting hairs on the word "marriage" For a country that professes it has a "separation of church and state", I have to say that is the biggest bold-faced LIE in the history of our country - especially in this day and age. Religion is played into SO heavily when it comes to matterws of law and state, it's a joke to think we ever HAD a separation. All the conservatives are all up in arms saying the word "marriage" is only between a man and a woman. Well then, I suppose next they'll say that any union that doesn't take place in a CHURCH isn't considered a marriage (what about those of us who were married by a judge?). I mean, why stop at just the gay population? Why not exclude ALL they don't seem fit? It's looking like an exclusive club there. Don't give me any "separation" crap - we KNOW the conservatives are going to use religion like a club to get its own way. One of my friends brought this up, and I'm surprised it hasn't been acted on before. If the religious right are so adamant about what they view as a "marriage", then how about this.....make the word "marriage" STRICTLY a religious status? For all LEGAL purposes (protection, adoption, legal rights, family rights, etc.) give all those rights that are afforded to what are now "married" to all people not protected, protect them under the "civil union" or even better - "lifemate" status. Something that allows ALL people to affirm and protect their love and devotion to each other. People are going to love who they love, no matter what law says they can't, so those of you who are so splitting hairs about this, how about you take your "marriage" wordplay and grow up! You are so adamant about denying a group of people one of the basic founding principles of our country - the pursuit of happiness, that you will stop at NOTHING to squash it under your mighty boot. Let people love and be free. That's what this country is supposed to be about, isn't it?

  10. Once you get bitten by the heeling bug, it's impossible to really go back. I dove head-first into it this year, and haven't looked back yet! The more you do it, the more comfortable you'll feel, and then you'll reach that magic moment when it just feels natural! It'll happen - you'll see!!!

  11. I had a rather nice compliment today when coming back from lunch today. Today was my blues & greys day, so I wore my blue flare jeans with a dusty blue turtleneck, my nails done up pearl grey with shimmer topcoat, and my 3.5" Payless twist bootine boots. The one gal looked at me and told me I rock my shoes good. :-) The ladies have been so wonderful and not said any bad things once. Still no bad reactions from anyone in the office, and everyone has pretty much gotten used to me again now. I guess they just like to see people who aren't like everyone else. :-)
