  1. I have double purchased a few times in the past when I find a pair I really like at a good price, as I have been stung so many times when the manufacturer decides that shoe is no longer in style (or perhaps they are not selling as many as they wanted), and it disappears from the stores before I can grab it.

That is the one downside with women's fashions, they come and go so quickly and it is always like a randomly moving target. Men's fashion, not so much. :P

These days I'm more cynical that the retailers deliberately create this "here today, gone tomorrow" feeling by running very low stock levels they can sell at full price, because that's more profitable than running high stock levels which they have to clear out on discount.

As I think more about it, your theory does make a lot of sense and is most likely exactly what they are doing.
  2. Absolutely a woman modeling those (some other pictures on that page confirm that). That and when you look up True Religion shorts on other sites, all of the shorts described as "Capri" are clearly in the women's section, and similar men's versions of the same length and style are either called "cut-off" or "cargo" shorts (eg. @ Neiman Marcus), so yep... its a typo.

  3. All really nice outfits Ashley... I am sure it helps having a slender body. I know that I would definitely push the boundaries a lot further if I felt I could pull it off. I am just not in the shape I would like to be at this time, and that makes it harder to enjoy more feminine fashions comfortably.

  4. On her: loud clicking is a nice attention grabbing sound, but to be honest, the sound itself doesn't really do that much for me one way or the other. On me: I would rather it be quiet when possible, but otherwise, its usually not a big deal if they do make some noise. Although, I have changed the tips from plastic to rubber on a couple of pairs and I recall there was one pair of block heels I got rid of that sounded like gunshots going off, and they weren't worth the time or effort to fix.

  5. There are nearby islands that they wanted to move to, but the claim to those islands are in dispute with China.

By the way, these islands in dispute with China are several tiny little islands, only 2 of these islands could hold a very small population (of about less than 100). So, no, they are not "wanting to move" there...
  6. My top 5 are:

    Heart - magazine(first version)

    Heart - dog and butterfly

    Heart - little queen

    Rush - hemispheres

    Led Zeppelin - physical grafitti.

    ...

You have very good taste Ashley and a great thread idea. I agree anything from Rush during the 70's was just incredible music. I like all of their albums up through Signals (1982), especially A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres and Permanent Waves.

I also love anything from Pink Floyd starting with Meddle (1971) up through The Wall (1979). There are a lot of others I could list including Led Zeppelin, Heart, Yes, Steely Dan, Joe Walsh, Fleetwood Mac, and the list goes on and on...

"The Fountain of Lamneth," which is the entire "B" side of the album "Caress of Steel."

Ahh yes, the whole side B of Caress of Steel, that is amazing stuff there and was the start of their next several epic albums to come. Nice to see multiple Rush fans here :)

  7. My wife knows that I come to this forum occasionally, and she is ok about it. Early on, I once showed her a few threads so that she understood why I came here (for motivational support from like minded people), and that I didn't have some secret social thing going on here (which was her original reaction). It was pretty much left at that and she has not asked about it again.

  8. I feel genetics are definitely involved but poor shoe choices will absolutely exacerbate this condition. My podiatrist tells me 85% of his bunion patients are women, and there are several statistics posted that confirm this imbalance.

I had foot problems (bunions) that started long before I ever considered putting high heels on my feet, I have pictures from my childhood that shows this. Also, there are several others in my family with bunions.

Anyway, I had corrective surgery about 10 years ago that resolved my issues, and since then I have been wearing heels far more than I ever did before the surgery (but I am mindful to wear proper fitting shoes), and I see no evidence that the issue has returned.

So my point is that some people are genetically predisposed to be more far likely to have these sorts of foot issues, but they aren't necessarily guaranteed to have those issues as long as they stay away from narrow / poor fitting, high heel shoes. On the other hand, there are those that will never have foot issues even with a lifetime of wearing heels. So I am absolutely convinced genetics is a major player in this.

I am sure there are a lot of men like me that either have bunions or have a tendency to develop them, but since they normally don't wear shoes that exacerbate the issue, bunions will not become an issue for them, or they may just live with them since they normally wear wider shoes it won't really bother them enough to see a doctor about it.

Update - I found this article that pretty much confirms most of the same things I just said above:

  9. It is really a shame, the girls forum was already struggling in last year or two to stay alive and now recent events seem to have put the final nail in the coffin.

Maybe it's time to rethink the structure of this forum and eliminate the gender separation altogether. ...

A potentially good suggestion Steve, but it could turn out to be a lot of work for site mods, and in the end it still may not have the desired outcome. Tough call...
  10. Hard to remember since the desire started for me way back when I was an early teen. I think the biggest memory for me though was getting to spend a lot of time around my best friend's sister. She used to often wear some killer 4"+ heels and she rocked them very well. That was probably the first time I really fell in love with the look of the high heel on a beautiful leg, although the seed was probably planted even before this point, this was most likely the biggest contributor I think. As it turned out, she was almost the same size as me, and I had easy access to them. I found that I could walk in them pretty easily and I felt somehow natural in them, like this was meant to be, and eventually I wanted to have them for myself and it grew from there.

  11. haha, nice :penitent:

LOL. The times people have made that mistake! I have even seen it in Ebay listings!

That's too funny Dr. Shoe, that is also what made me think that must be the brand name, because I looked that up on ebay and there are a lot of listing that have that as the brand of the shoe, doh! Well so much for that 'tip', heh
  12. Here is a follow up to my March 16 post. The pictures are of the boots I wore into the store when I returned to buy the skirt, also in the pictures.

    Hope you approve.

Sorry for the belated post in reply to Kris, but I really like the skirt and boots together, that is a very nice look!
  13. My primary gaming system: Core i7-3770, 8GB RAM, 250GB SSD disk & 1TB SATA disk, 27" Samsung monitor. My laptop is a Core i7 Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga ultrabook, 8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD drive, with a 13" touchscreen that flips to work like a tablet. Both of these are running Windows 8 x64 with Classic shell (to give me a Windows 7 start menu).

  14. I've recently brought a pair of Puma MY-66 hidden wedge trainers (in black) that I've been wearing quite a bit. I've posted more about my purchase in another thread.

Generally I feel that hidden wedge trainers are more stealthy/manly when the heel doesn't narrow as it goes down to the ground (see 1st attached pic) - i.e. the footprint is still as wide as your foot at the heel (3rd attached pic).

Those are pretty cool, but a shame they seem to be getting rid of them (selling them out) as choices are greatly diminished right now... Most of the remaining color options they offer are only in very small sizes. I would love to have the black/white color combination you pictured, but currently the only color they have in size 7 or larger are a black/pink pair, which are NOT as cool looking as yours.
  15. . Oh, and speaking of mules, don't you hate it when your pant leg gets caught beneath your foot, so that you're stepping on it as you walk? It seems I'm forever tugging at my pant legs so that they fall on the outside of the heels, as they should.

Oh, I totally agree with this one. I owned a few pairs of mules several years ago in my early going out days and got rid of them just for that reason because that annoyed the tar out of me. Although that was at a time I was really concerned about hiding my heels with extra long jeans. I am not so paranoid about hiding anymore, so perhaps it is time to reconsider a pair of mules with more appropriate length pants :)
