If the shaft reaches the knee, it's a knee high boot, if the shaft reaches the thigh, it's a thigh high boots. Very simple. And very few shafts actually reaches the crotch. Thankfully.
Splitting hairs a bit, but I do think the media has used OTK (especially when it comes to celebrities wearing them) for the reason you said in your prior comment, its a just more fashion acceptable term.
However, looking around various sites for thigh boots vs otk boots being sold, and you do get about a 3-4 inch difference in results, where otk are usually low-thigh (or just covering the front of the knee, leaving the back of the knee exposed), and thigh boots are mid-thigh, just as TBG has pointed out.
Anyway, yes your argument is valid, the terms are used interchangeably and can be used to mean exactly the same thing depending on perspective.

I much prefer traditional 'knee high' boots, I think they are more elegant, flattering, fashionable, and more widely accepted for day to day use. I especially like them to hug the shape of the leg, not oversized / bulky looking. So with that said, I think over-the-knee and thigh high boots don't have that same sleek look (unless you choose PU/stretch boots).
I think very few people can really pull off the look of thigh boots or otk boots. They might be more acceptable for a night out on the town clubbing or similar, but not really for normal day use or in a professional setting.

I would buy them if I had money to burn, or not feeling guilty buying them. What would you rather have, one pair of beautiful, high fashion boots, or a whole bunch of cheap ones that you end up throwing away?
There are plenty of REALLY nice shoes and boots in the $75 - 300 range that make total sense to me, while $3000 shoes, makes no sense.
So to your question, I don't really like either option (lots of cheap pairs vs. one extremely expensive pair). However, if you gave a third option of having say 10-15 pairs of more sensible but still very nice & fashionable $200-$300 shoes/boots (adding up to $3000 total), then I would totally pick that option in a heartbeat. I know that they would last just as long and be beautiful just like the ONE $3000 pair.
Maybe $200-$300 is considered cheap shoes in your mind, but to me I would consider those higher end... so, I guess to each his own

Yeah, I probably would have been just like one of the first three replies to chime in with the same chorus, as I am pretty much a cheap skate even though I could afford to splurge on things from time to time, I don't very often. I just have never understood spending 5x - 20x or more the price of a normal quality item. I feel even if I had $20 million in the bank, I am pretty confident I wouldn't buy $3000 shoes, or a $400000 car, or $8mil house. I would probably buy nicer items than I do now and live really comfortably, but not overly outlandish items like you would see on MTV Cribs and such. Anyway, its no bash to the original post at all, just someone that doesn't comprehend that way of spending.

Nice! How do they feel when walking? Driving?
Very comfortable... I've worn them pretty much all day the last couple days, walked around for a couple of hours non-stop, and have had no discomfort or issues. I am really happy with them.

I was considering the Kotek's, but the three times I checked them out I walked off without asking for my size. TheQupids look nice. Will be interested in a review.
Update - Just got the Qupid boots in today and they really look pretty good. They are quite a bit smaller looking then they appear online, but fit me perfectly. They look like typical men's shoes with jeans, but are smaller than a man's shoe would be and are actually sort of cute. Definitely not at all obvious that I have a ~3.5" heel on, just looks like I am sort of small footed is the only thing
. Anyway, I am going to buy another pair right now in dark brown since they are running out of them in my size. -
Looks like a windshield wiper on the back window of the car on the left, not sure if that was done back then, but the car in general just looks odd, can't quite put my finger on it.
Either that or as someone else hinted at - its the ramp leading up to the porch doesn't match up / align with the railing around the porch? Yep, I think that must be it.

Good price and not too bad looking, I'm just not a fan of the gigantic platforms that are still popular somehow. A smaller platform is fine, but these things are really getting outta hand

Found these on Aldo. Sort of hidden wedges on boots. http://www.aldoshoes.com/us/women/boots/wedge-boots
I wasn't sure which Aldo boots kashaze was talking about as his link just went to an overall page full of many wedge boots, but anyway, there is a pair I saw there that is really very stealthy for anyone shy about heels in public. They are "Aldo Kotek", and are about $130 US, which is a bit spendy, but these totally look like a man's work boot/shoe. The external heel is just over 1", maybe 1.5" but with the hidden wedge inside, it looks like it is probably closer to a 4" heel overall. So yeah, most here on this forum would probably call these ugly, and they sort of are, but I think I would feel pretty comfortable wearing these anywhere, even at my work which I have been most cautious about what heels I wear there. So I'll probably take the bite and go for these myself.
Update: Well the deeply frugal side of me kicked in, and I found a very similar pair to the $130 Aldo Kotek's (posted in the first picture).
These ones are at Amazon, called Qupid Roy-02 (2nd picture), for just $40 including shipping. They are equally as ugly as the Aldo's
and also are close to a 4" heel, but well, they will be another good work shoe for me to wear without any concern, and were a heck of a lot cheaper than the Aldo boots, so I am pretty happy

This sort of thing is exactly why I keep this part of my life as separate from work as possible. There is just too much as stake for me to risk my career. While it would be wrong (and potentially illegal) for a company to actually take any action against you for doing this, there are so many other ways they can just make life a living hell for you and force you to go. All because someone has a personal bias or hang-up about it that they just cant get over. It sucks, but its the way of the world.
I envy those here that get away with wearing them full time including at work, and say its no big deal, but for many people out there, this is a big deal.

Much more platform than I would usually go for, but if you like them, that's all that matters right?

I have had a few experiences in the store. The one I was the most comfortable with was about 2 years ago... She said "lots of guys buy shoes, and lie about them being for their girlfriend. You are the first to admit to me they are for you, so I want to help you". I made some comment about guys in heels being strange. She looked at me and said, "No, I think this is too cool. And you are one of the more 'normal' guys I have seen in here. Dont feel weird!"
... I paid for them and thanked her for making me feel "not so weird". She told me "Weird is all the guys that come in here wanting porn DVDs. I wish more guys would come in here wanting shoes -- besides, I think it is a cool look"...
--Dude
That is too cool, thanks for sharing that experience Dude.

Thankfully I had a nice cop one time drop me down from 36 over (I think I was clocked at 101 in a 65) to 32 over so that I didn't get a wreckless driving penalty. It was still a pretty expensive speeding fine, but not nearly as bad as a wreckless driving penalty would have been.

She's taken a job in San Diego, partly to move in with her GF. She's trucked off most of her stuff (clothes), ...
...She gave me a long and a short black skirts, pink skirt and blouse, b&w blouse, gray pencil skirt, four skinny belts and a wide, a dark read sweater, and a multi gray tone light sweater. Got a pair of b&w ankle strap heels and the watch off her wrist too. She also gave me something new to me: four dresses and a white suit dress. I'd done heels-nylons-skirts, not the dress experience before.
Really a shame she is moving away, sounds like you had a really cool friendship brewing up. Really cool that she gave you several of her outfits but bummer that you won't have her for a neighbor anymore.

Tech, I wondered what happened to you, we haven't heard from you in ages (the real you and not your intro robot).

Anyway, I am glad to have helped you a bit and apologize for my lack of patience. I'm very happy that you got the bottom of it and have resolved it.
Have a good one!

If I could fit into the shit you wear, I'd do it too!
Cool, I am sure you got a kick out of his comment. Funny thing is, it almost mirrors my thoughts exactly!
I look quite feminine from the waist down, but am clearly masculine shaped from the waist up and have a masculine face that no amount of makeup could change. If I could pull off more complete feminine outfits / fashions, I would be all over it, I promise you that. But alas, i am sort of stuck with mixing and matching a men's fashion (top) with women's fashion (bottom half + shoes) and try to blend them together as much as possible without looking completely off the wall.

Basically, what he is saying is that several of the supposed 'women' participating in that forum, were found out to be guys, and were banned. Additionally, there probably are more still that were not found out, but they most likely decided they should just stop posting before they are found as well.Conversations as in private? Cause I can read the 'For the girls' subforum just as easy as this one. It's not exactly a hidden subforum if you're a male. But generally I can see your point.
... "Some of the other ' women ' kind of split/left as they knew their days were limited."
This I don't get. Limited as in having moved on or limited as in there being too many guys?
Any real women remaining after all the fake 'women' were banned, probably feel a lack of trust and comfort being at this site anymore, so they too have stopped posting here. I only see a few women left being active any more, which is a real shame.

Very nice heels you got there, and while it was a shame you didn't get to try them on in the store, I'm not sure I would have been able to think and respond to say 'yes' myself either. That's a tough one if you are not used to doing that already. I am similarly pretty shy about it, and I have only been helped by an SA a few times to have them brought out to me to try on, and each of those times my wife was there shopping with me, which gives me a lot more confidence. Otherwise, usually when I am out on my own buying from the store, I go to stores that have all the shoes out on the racks in boxes so that you help yourself (Kohl's, Famous Footwear, Payless, and typical 'big-box' stores, etc). I am much more comfortable in those type of stores to try them on (in my head anyway... lol).

Its pretty much dead there. There are maybe a few people posting on that site, and really there is only one person that appears to post fairly regularly. In fact, in some of the threads I see, it looks like this guy is having a long winded conversation with himself.

As the others have said, there's a story missing here.
Also, what's up with your formatting? Every line seems to start with a capital letter even though sentences aren't finished yet.
Haha, good call, with both comments

I like the Vera's as well, low profile and nice looking. The Summit's are a bit too odd looking with the elongated toe, that is then chopped at the tip.

I never did tell my dad (he has since passed)... as for my mom, she has pretty much always known, as I know she found some of my 'private belongings' back when I was a teen. She never really spoke of it, but has hinted that she knows whats up. Still many years later, I never have spoke directly to her about it. It is really tough to open up about it to people you are close to. The only ones really close to me that I have talked to about it are my wife and more recently my sister as well. Telling my sister was interesting and I was pretty much drunk
(same state of mind when I told my wife, too), but my sister was pretty cool about it.
I still prefer to keep it relatively secret though, I just don't feel like making it well known to everyone I know. Even though I have been public heeling for over 5 years, I am still careful and stealthy about it, and avoid doing it in areas that I know I will see people I know. I guess that will never change at this point?
