  1. The Las Vegas Trip....

Got back yesterday from a long weekend in Vegas with the wife.  Took all gals sandals, flats and heels.  It was really hot in town (it is summer) 105 - 110 degrees, so stayed at the hotel most of the time - Caesars Palace - nice place.  The two pair of heels I brought were both VanEli sandals, one pair I have had for a while, the other pair recently purchased.  Before the trip I painted my toenails a light blue to contrast with the wife's aqua color.  Got two compliments on the pedicure which was nice.  Wore the heels most part of two days while gaming, shopping, dining and just walking around.  Got a few stares and double looks but no one said anything, which was nice but I was hoping for some kind of compliment - ha ha.

It was quite enjoyable to be out in heels and having a good time with the wife.  Enjoying yourself and your surroundings, to me that's what it is all about....

Here is a pic of the heels that I wore...   Both very comfortable....    have fun...   sf

  2. I wouldn’t mind creating a blog, after 20+ years of wearing high heels in public, I probably could offer some valid advice.  But alas, I am so technology impaired I would not know how to begin setting one up....

Like mlroseplant, this site will have to suffice.....  sf

  3. Yeah....  Candies heels were cool.  I wish I had gotten a pair....   I had an English teacher in the 7th grade who wore Candies everyday.  I sat in the front of the class during that period!

I remember that Gilligan's Island episode too!!!  Funny....  It got me thinking as well....   Take care....   sf

  4. Happy...   We gonna be saying at Caesars...   Wife has a slot tournament.  You gonna be there this weekend??  ha ha...  I assume no, would be fun to meet.

Vegas is a great place to wear heels, we visit about 4-5 times a year, wear heels there all the time...    Have fun...   sf

  5. Back in 1996, I was shoe shopping for some summer sandals - gals flats - that's all I had ever worn.  I forgot which store I was in, but saw a pair of slip on thongs with a kitten heel about 2 inches high.  Intrigued by the look and style of the sandal, plus it was in my size, I tried it on and was hooked!  Prior to that day I had really never had the desire to wear high heels.

When I put the sandals on, the look, the feel was amazing and I couldn't wait to get out in those wonderful shoes.  When I got home I showed them to my wife, she seemed confused but eventually came to accept the fact that her "weird" husband likes to wear high heels (since wearing gals flats was not enough).

Run the clock ahead 20+ years, I am still proudly wearing high heels, flats too, and absolutely love it....  Plus it's fun!!!

I actually still have those first pair of heels, although a bit worn...  Here's a pic...   Adios....   sf

  6. Well I wimped out on wearing heels.  I had never been to the Greek Theater and found out that most of the parking lots are dirt, with a long walk to boot.  I don't mind the walk, but get my nice hh sandals dirty?  No way.

I opted instead for a pair of older flat "Clarks" gals thongs that I like.  Comfortable walking sandals and still showing off my pedicure.  The wife has a matching pair that she wore as well.

Had fun at the concert, Weird Al is the best.  Lots of older songs and some new ones as well.  Was accompanied by a 45 piece orchestra, in addition to his own band.  Made for a nice sound.  Hard to pick a fav song, but one of his best is "The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota" which he did flawlessly!!  Coincidentally, we were at the twine ball just one week ago!!

Yes Mlrose, there are at least two Weird Al fans on the site.  ha ha  Love it.

While there I had an interesting sighting of a guy in a pair of flat gals (or very unisex) asymmetrical thongs.  The straps were spaghetti thin and there was a "cute" bow tie on the top.  I wanted to ask him where he got the shoes but with large crowd he dispperaerd quickly.  He looked like a regular guy and was with a cute gal wearing Birkenstocks (ugg)....  So maybe I'm not the only guy in SoCal wearing gals shoes in public.  Refreshing...

Was a fun evening.....   Take care all...   sf

    "Another One Rides the Bus".......

  7. Well, not certain what if anything this post has to with with anything else, but since there hasn't been lot of activity here lately, I thought I would comment.  It's summertime which to me is sandal time!!  I mostly wear sandals almost exclusively gals, both with heels and flat.  This summer I have been out as much as possible in sandals, heels mostly, and have had absolutely no reaction at all - and that's a good thing - to me at least, except a compliment would be nice.

The past few days I have been out in my favorite pair of VanEli kitten heeled sandals that I have had for a few years.  I love these shoes, they look nice and are relatively comfortable.  No reactions, maybe a few second looks but thats it.  Maybe more folks ARE getting acclimated to seeing a guy in heels?  Or just more accepting in general?  Or just not noticing and/or not caring?  I wore these sandals when me and Steve met in LA last November.  Both he and his wife liked them...

Tonight the wife and I are off to the Greek Theater in LA to see Weird Al in concert.  I have seen him before, he's hilarious!  Gonna wear heels, just not sure which pair....

    Have fun all......   sf

  8. Wow...... Based on earlier posts, I thought your spouse was generally OK with your heeling?  A freak?  Not sure about that.  Different, maybe.  Let's face it, not a lot of guys wear high heels in public.  We are the pioneers who are taking the arrows.  Will things ever get better?  I doubt it, at least not in my lifetime.  But that does not mean I will stop enjoying my heels and I imagine you are of the same opinion.

Next time I am driving through Iowa, I will get the name of your town so they can be amazed that there are now two "freaks" in town...  ha ha...

Like the Bobby McFerrin song says:  Don't Worry Be Happy......       Have fun, sf (the other "freak")

  9. It appears that several of us gentleman are of the same vintage, born in the 1950's and 1960's.  I remember Thom McAnn stores as well and the problem you mentioned about maximum sizes only to nine or ten.  I started wearing gals shoes as a teen and was / am very grateful that most shoemakers eventually began to make shoes and sandals in larger (11-12) sizes.  As a young guy growing up, I knew that my attraction to gals shoes would NEVER go away,  and the fact that the sizes back then were limited was very frustrating.

I am a size 11 or 12 depending on the manufacturer and have quite a selection of very nice, well fitting flat and high heel gals sandals that I wear proudly.  Makes me feel good, always has and I love it!!  Have fun....   sf

  10. Mlrose......  Nice story, I like the sandals you were wearing....

I just returned from a “road trip” to Minnesota (them “strange folks” to the north - ha ha) and passed thru n/w Iowa.  Was looking but did not see any guys in heels - bummer, but I was looking for you too....

You mentioned “negative feedback” this month, what happened??

Go get more compliments.....   Have fun......   sf

  11. We are all outcasts in one way or another.....   A guy wearing high heels???  ha ha ha.....

But I could care less, because I really enjoy wearing heels and gals shoes....  And most other folks (guys AND gals) seem to feel the same way....  Enjoy.....    sf (the outcast) he he.....
