As an ex-lurker I was not too pleased with this new policy. Then there was that " mens leg contest" in the " for the guys" forum that draw me over line to register.

Thats the whole point, if everybody was a lurker, there wouldnt be any content, no discussion and the "community" would just be a bunch of bored admins with members all waiting for somebody else to say something.

Anybody ever sat in a doctors waiting room where nobody will say anything to each other, yet everybody in there is from the same community and all living local to each other.... Thats what you would have here if everybody just stayed a lurker

So, if it helps motivate people to give a little back and join in then its got to be good right?

Like Celso said, there are plenty of free email services available such as yahoo, hotmail, gmail so the old excuse of "I dont have an email address" doesnt really apply anymore.

That is a REALLY bad comparison.

Some of those guest's are also search engines indexing the website. But to encourage more guest's to join, we started using image attachments on posts then set the website so that non-members cannot see the attachments. Saves a ton of bandwidth but more importantly, lurkers start to actually join up.

PS. Ritchie, did you know that when you edit a post, it is too late to add more pictures? That is why the second post.

It shouldnt be. when I tested it, all you need to do when editing a post is go to "Advanced view" then click on "manage attachments"

Its because your using the abbreviation instead of the full word.

For some reason my computer is inserting (page ranking )for the abbreviation for a pair. Sorry. I tried to fix it but can't.

Its not your computer doing that, its our forum.

This is deliberately done by our SEO software where it see's "p r" together without the space as an abbreviation of pr so it spells out the word completely.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand

"Signature" pictures are not allowed. I think you mean an "Avatar"

This is why we prefer members to now attach images to their actual posts rather than linking to them elsewhere, so our community doesnt end up in a mess.

I think you mean "Upload one" to this website?

Use the "Manage attachments" button when posting messages and you can "Upload" the pictures, 5 at a time.

This could be difficult because of them being that flimsy PU stuff (they look like it anyway) and in patent too, they will either be covered up by your long jeans so its a bit of a hmmmmm moment...

Hiya Shus It sounds to me like your shoes are too big When standing upright, you should not have any gap between the very back of the shoe and your heel (But it should not be tight either) What your aiming for is to be able to lift your foot and wiggle it around, without the shoe slipping off, but without it cutting into your foot or restricting movement.

HTML is off for everybody and doesnt affect attaching images to posts.

Use the advanced posting interface (User CP options) and click on Manage attachments.

Hey bootwalker, great pic's you have there... I notice these URL's seem the kind that may not be around in a few months time so wanted to suggest you post 3 pst's with 5 images attached to each one? that way your post's wont get messed up should those URL not be available anymore?

Once again, I asked for help on this and a course of rules to follow. No one suggested anything and all said go for it so I did. It's like if you don't vote, than don't have the right to voice. If you don't like whats going on with the leg contest than lets end it here or take a pole!!!!!!!

When you asked me for any specific rules, all I said was "As long as it doesnt break any of the current website rules then go for it"

Its your competition, and therefore you can pretty much make it up as you go along. Nobody is complaining! Do you hear me complaining?

We are simply making observations based on what we are seeing being presented, and on how most of the guys all seem to be jumping into "Girl mode" along with showing the legs.

Out come all the skirts, pantyhose, leg shaving and even a wig? (Or that chevyblazers own hair?)

Sexuality has nothing to do with this so Micha's post was waaayyyyy off the mark but all we are doing here is expressing our opinion which we are all entitled to do as long as it isnt deliberatly offensive...

Were just pointing out what we see, were not mind readers and nobody knew it would turn out with almost every guy dressing like a girl (Not just showing there legs)

If you guys enjoy it then so be it, enjoy it, but please dont complain when other people have an opinion on what you do. You dont do it when walking down the street in your heels, so why do it here?

Guys I think your missing the point that new_look and I are aiming at... I think new look is aiming more along the "You want to wear heels as guys, yet you all want to dress like girls?" route.

You know they say great minds think alike.... This is exactly what I've been thinking.. The leg contest in the guys section looks more like most of the pictures came from actual women (I dont mean that in a good way either) what picture does this paint for the rest of us, who like you say new_look, just want to wear heels as guys....

On a technical support note I am not able to see most of the attachments on posts and get a permissions error. Not sure if I am supposed to do something to get that to work or not. Any help appreciated, I did read the forum instructions.

Once you have earned your way up from "Brand new member" everything will work just fine. Its our little way of encouraging the lurkers to join in and take part..
