I talk to him from time to time and have also mentioned this site. He was very active on another site I am on and has disappeared. He comments that he is very busy and not looking for more internet groups. Even on Pinterest he has cut way back. His favorite hang out Instagram, and he has not posted much lately since his new found fame.

He used to post quite a bit on skirt cafe forum, as well as on Pinterest. As he now has over 500k Instagram followers, he is concentrating more on that as well as magazine deals with Vogue, and many interviews and podcasts. I mentioned HHP to him, but he was not interested, I don't imagine any of his looks will be accepted under the new regime as his look is about wearing skirts with heels.

His wife supports him, but isn't so keen on all the interest from thousands of women on platforms like Instagram. His look is very smart. Most of his links are to photoshoots and interviews. He's doing well and keeping busy :)

Made another outing today this evening, spent 2 hours in Primark and bought more items, Including a black synthetic leather jacket, wet look leggins, dark blue leggins on sale,  1 short / 1 midi denim skirts and the block heel boots shown in the pics.

I will return the leggins and swap for a smaller size or different item since they are not tight enough for my liking.  I wanted to try items on, but due to the pandemic changings room are out of use.

Initially I wore flats (since it wasn't raining) to match my ladies jumper I bought the other day, skinny Jean's , a black jacket and 40 denier tights under jeans. I changed and wore the heels to match out the store and this was better also due to the rain outside.  Might get the black ones and 3 inch stilettos soon.

Felt comfortable communicating with female staff, but avoided some of the guys. But what's strange is that in my initial outings or  sometimes since I've been going out I have been more nervous of women noticing. These days I dont care as much about strangers (still do a bit), its mainly the fear of people I know or who can recognise me.

I'm going to try others stores in future outings to complete my wardrobe, but buying less items at a time, need to keep an eye on my budget.

Yeah the quality and durabilty is not the best, as I've noticed from experience buying guy clothes. But Primark is not my main go to place medium to long term, however the jacket in my pic is from Primark from almost 2 years ago.

It was just an obvious initial choice as I'm still experimenting and learning more about female fashion, did not want to spend too much initially and felt more comfortable going there than other places, but that's not an issue now I've had some experience.

Top Shop, New Look,Tkmaxx and M & S are my preferred choices. I should have gone as soon as lockdown was lifted in July  since some places had 70% sales, but mentally I wasn't ready then. Well see what black Friday brings.

You look great with those leggings and boots on! If you know your skirt size (I'm 10), take a gamble on ebay. Warehouse and Zara are my go-to for smart pencil skirts, I prefer knee-length, but now autumn is here, slightly longer midi's like 27 inch with a decent rear vent for walking. Boots are in plentiful supply on ebay as well. I like your top as well. Try out your midi denim skirt on a shopping trip further afield if you don't want to run into anyone you know. Intu Watford is an hour away by train (10 mins from Euston to Watford Junction) with lots of shops. Plenty of thrift shops as well. Black Friday may be good, but there's also Cyber Monday to follow.  Would like to see what your denims (midi or mini) look like. Be bold and just walk out there as if in jeans or leggings. They would go well with your jacket, too :)

Yeah I'm annoyed about the forcasted rain over the next 7 days or so. Im going shopping anyway maybe 2 outings. Flats are not the best in wet weather, temperature wise they are still okay for now. I might wear my trainers instead intially, then change into my heels on my way there.

Yes, Im buying some skirts (my current ones from Ebay are a little too bold or short for my second outing in a skirt), but I'm shopping on a budget so either Primark, thrift shops or  anyplaces currently with big sales or discounts. Looking to buy some leather leggins 1 or two dresses appropriate for autumn/winter, a few pairs of boots at some points this month.

I also have a lot Credits on JustFab from  ages ago I need to use.

The rain for tomorrow seems to be just showers, there are good thrift shops on local high streets, (some right next to each other!). For designer stuff, Hatfield Galleria has outlet stores and a huge TK Maxx (TJ Maxx to our US friends). Don't watch for mouthy schoolkids, they have seen it all before. It's just clothes... People are more concerned with what mask you have on, rather than what skirt 😏 so even a short royal blue A line wouldn't raise eyebrows. It's easier to browse for skirts whilst in one (It's tights weather now)... Most staff just want a sale. I think the formal office wear is good, knee length, though not all sizes are accurate... most thrift or charity shops have decent boots too. A chunky heel will prevent any slips.

Primark stuff only lasts a short time, you may be better going to charity shops like Traid. This was in H&M for only £17, well worth a look!

Saturday is now the wash-out day... :)

  4. Sounds like a great plan! If you are shopping for skirts, I find it's much easier doing so whilst wearing one. Like whilst in heels, the worry of wearing a skirt just goes away, just sit carefully on the train if opposite someone on the Underground.  If you do bump into someone you know, don't worry. So now they know. Most people have got too much going on in their lives to care for other people's clothes :)

A longer straight skirt like the one pictured is good for cooler days, it's wet and wild the next few days. Denims go unnoticed too. Zara do some nice ones. A decent outfit goes well with heels.

Lockdown may be back in weeks so get shopping! 😄

Well, the Philadelphia area came out of lockdown on a somewhat limited basis this past Friday, meaning retail stores could reopen. I wandered downtown on Saturday (non-jaunt) to see what was what, however, because of the riots here last weekend, practically nothing was open and EVERY storefront was boarded up. My god, I had never seen so much plywood in any one area in all my life. Bottom line, jaunting downtown looks to be a nonstarter for awhile. That leaves the malls I frequent, I'll travel to King of Prussia this coming weekend and see what's up there.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's further trouble this weekend, certainly the case in the UK. Virtual Jaunts of what you could have worn / are wearing are in order :)

Was out ealier in the sun, with my Aldo handbag ,skinny jeans and the ted bakers sandals in the pic. Just before i arrived home i was caught by one of my female neghbours and been showing my toes public  for the last few days.  Cant wait to get them done professionally and a manicure too.

I was ,"caught" by one of  the security guys on my estate in skirt , fishnet tights and flats 2 days ago in the evening lol, after a brief outing to the shops which was a first in a skirt.

I have carefully  tried to  avoid my neighbours and other people on my estate  for the last 2 month I've been wearing female footwear, but im caring less and less now. But still a little carefull though. My outings are mostly daytime now, I'm hooked and enjoying pushing the boundaries more than ever. For me its about the general experience  and I'm now more patient about heels before they are a regular part of my outings.

    20200531_125209_compress35.jpg

I love your nails! Try not to talk about getting "caught", it makes freestyling sound like a crime, there's nothing better than slipping on your best pumps, a nice skirt and showing the world, hey, this is me.  Most people don't care as their lives still go on, and if you dress well, you will get compliments. A pencil skirt is something for your wardrobe in future. Just been to my local recycling centre in my green skirt, I knew not to wear stilettoes in case I got them caught in the steps alongside the various containers :o No reactions apart from a smile or two from one of the workers when I hitched my skirt slightly to tackle the steps :) it was mostly cardboard so I didn't get dirty :)

Be careful putting your feet up on the seat if in a short skirt on the bus :o;)

I've had the top for years, then came across the skirt and heels on Ebay at low cost, so was a no brainer when i imagined the whole outfit. Gonna be be intresting wearing that out, even without  the heels lol

Will wear more conservative colours for my first skirt in public though, the last one is a bit too much for a first time, lol

The skirts look great, though on a breezy day, the floaty ones may cause you some trouble ;) I liked the printed one, a little busy but would look good with a plain top and plain pumps. There's some nice knee length stuff in Sainsburys (Tu) at the minute in more conservative colours. Conservative colours don't have to be boring, depending on the skirt style. A straight or pencil skirt would suit you.  ;)

  8. Was struggling to choose a decent skirt for my top - I went for the Gingham Print pencil (the lighter of the two green skirts) in the end as it was cooler. The plain green J Crew one is more suitable for colder days as it is thicker. Worn with black stockings and leopard print heels :)

  9. Kjones, glad you are slowly pushing the envelope! Most times I am in knee-length skirts (I prefer straight ones with a slit at the back, but are fitted) as I find them the most comfortable. It all started with jeans or denim ones, but I didn't like the "stonewashed" look to them or the seam down the middle. So went for a more smarter variant instead ;) I had considered kilts, but these are so expensive, I could buy several skirts for the price of even one cheap kilt! My most expensive skirt was £50, but I am diversifying to shift dresses now. These are worn with heels, to keep on topic... pencil skirts are easier when you need the loo as they stay up and out of the way until you're done, lol.

I reflected on why I like dressing the way I do, but sometimes there are no clear answers. I got tired of thinking how I could have dressed but didn't due to cultural expectations or society. It's better to seek foregiveness than permission, lol... There's decent skirts at Sainsbury's / Tu when you are next at the big store. If you don't fancy that, then ebay will have all you need for around a fiver upwards. Tights can be found in any convenience store, the higher the denier, the thicker and darker they will be. I wear hold ups for better airflow in summer, and it's easier when nature calls. Heels and pumps cry out for skirts and tights too!

Don't worry about looks, a scared or anxious vibe will attract more attention than what is around your hips or on your feet. Do an experiment: go to Tesco or any shop in regular guy clothes and see how many people look at you. Repeat again in heels / skirted etc. You will find some will look anyway, but the majority just don't care. It's mostly our own conditioning telling us it's wrong and to conform.

Below is a typical smart look that's tried and tested. :)

Yes i have been venturing outside in ballet flats for 8 out of the 12 days since my debut. I were a 3M 6200 half face respirator instead of a mask in public, which partially disguises or covers my face, but most people notice im a guy anyway and i dont hide it, haha.

Ive noticed people look down, double takes  and stares from people. For example  Including when i got on the bus with several black or african people.  But i suppose the respirator does attract some looks though. I have worn several  other pairs not shown in the original pics. Today i wore a  bright pink pair of Ted Baker flats to Tesco, nothing much happened really and no heart pounding just calmness mostly.

These expiriences motivate me to master and wear my heels/wedges in public along with the accessories you mentioned hopefully soon and dress how i want in public. I dont hide my flats, and wont be hiding the heels either. Im planning debuting my 3.5 inch block heels within the next week, when i visit the supermarket at some point. The shoes are open toe mules, so considering doing a pedicure for the outing, with skinny jeans.

I have a treadmill at home which doesnt get used much, so will using it to practice my heeling for the longer term.  So 4 inches in public is my target within the next month or so.

I'm glad you are getting out and about. The flats will get zero attention, I have even found my 22 inch pencil skirt gets very few looks as well. In this hot weather, the breeze is quite delightful, lol. To the big supermarket by the stadium today, plenty of black folk, I've heard all the insults, and sometimes it's just in our head as we fear hostility. People have no time for the clothes or heels you wear, they are looking forward to when all this lockdown stuff is over. After a while, you won't notice double takes.

Today: polo shirt, Principles penstripe pencil skirt, 22" with 5 inch slit at rear, black hold ups, ballet flats. Sometimes I pose for the kids trying to take my photo. They feel embarrassed and run off

I have a couple of skirts in a 10 (34-36 mens) if you would like them. Denim is the easiest to go out in first of all :flowers:

Other areas you could try is Lea Valley Park by the Marshes. Nice weather, open space it's part of my "exercise" now and then. A couple of benches to sit on when your feet start to ache in pumps, or you need to re adjust your tights or stockings discreetly ;) ebay is a good site for clothing if you don't fancy charity shops (majority closed now). It's never supposed to replace  mens wear,  just a nice addition to the mostly drab :) there are plenty of guys who have such a wardrobe... just look at Balletboot, CAT and JeffB for starters :)

Perfect day for a walk! Sat on the bus in a mini kilt, stockings and booties. Heading to the Marshes for my daily exercise. Some double takes, my card didn't work on the reader when I got on the bus, but after trying a different one, walked to the back of the bus, so all eyes on me.

How are you spending your Lockdown weekend, KJones? :)

    Thanks.

Currently living in Tottenham near the new stadium. Tbh I'm finding the hardest part is leaving the house and bumping into one of my neighbours during the day.

But once in public I'm calm. Night, late evening or early morning is somewhat easy when going and coming from work. I now intend to wear womens shoes (starting with ballet flats and sandals) more and more often until it becomes my regular footwear (Apart from when working or when with friends/family).  I'm not ready for skirts yet  maybe in  late summer or the fall, before that womens jeans with preaty sandals (Ted Baker London) with painted toes for the summer and openly wearing low to medium heels is the next goal. So I guess the adrenaline and heart pounding will continue for a while, after my initial success.

Although I'm straight, I  was thinking Soho as it will be more accepting and Camden area initially, but since the city is in lockdown these wont really be an option for sometime, so just sticking to my local area and when going/coming from work as they are the only feasible/safe options.

What are some your recommendations in terms of places and how long have you been wearing skirts and heels in public?

Sorry for the late reply. Problem with uploading pictures...  I am not far from you, near the high road too. Lockdown means hardly anyone about, but don't want hassle from cops as it may look like an unnecessary trip outside. Been wearing for 6 years, though I do still mix it up with regular guys clothes too. Sometimes it's a hassle to coordinate skirts, tights, underwear, shoes, find a decent bag etc... all the accessories are time consuming, lol... it's sometimes easier to just blend in with everyone else. As for areas like Camden, can be dicey. Soho as well. I find going outside London much better, shopping for heels whilst in a skirt is better as well. Have you been venturing out much recently?

That could very well be the case.  Willing to wear heels more often but for much shorter periods of time.

I think the recent trend toward women quitting heels is not just a trend this time around.  In the past, yes, there have been periods when heels were not being worn.  However, it was fashion that dictated the change, not women's attitudes.  This time around, fashion is being dictated to by women who have rebelled against the wearing of heels of any sort.  Heck, not even heels, but dress shoe styles period.  Seems all they want to wear now is athletic related footwear. as we're seeing things like lace up gym shoes with formal attire.  While I could be wrong, and hope that I am, I think that the statement that heels are dead is in fact a reasonable possibility.  Sure, it will take a while for heels to completely disappear,  and I likely won't see the final results in what's left of my lifetime, but the rebellion against heels is very real today, and I think it will end up being the end of heels as a common and desirable footwear option for women.  Hey, maybe men can take it over then!

I think women are fed up with aching calves, the damage it can cause your posture etc... plus what's posted above. I saw so much more of smart office skirts plus althletic footwear or flats by women, rather than heels, whilst observing people going to work before the shutdown.

  14. OP,

Typical skirt styles I've worn with a less prominent heel. People were more concerned about the top half, since then, I wear guys shirts and tops. I won't list the insults thrown at me initially, but am now seen as part of the furniture. Where abouts in London are you? Some parts are easier than others ;)

This might be a long post, so bare with me. It's more than a year since my failed attempt at public heeling.

I'm also a big fan of ballet flats and since Sunday night I've done 5 outings( one going to work and one on the way back home) using the 3 different pairs across 3 days. Until my outing today, the previous 4 have been an emotional  rollercoaster to varying degrees.

I dont know what came over me on sunday night before preparing for work, but I put my flats on and put my trainers in my work bag. I wore the flats on the bus to work, which was mostly empty. Were I was positioned however, they were visible to anyone who got on the bus, although hardly anyone noticed. This has been the case on the other journeys, and when walking in public. However I've noticed an increasing number of people noticing to some degree including  double takes at my feet. At some pont during my journeys i started wanting to be noticed, lol. I remember  a blonde girl who came to sit near me slightly facing my direction in the morning one time  were my shoes were already obvious. I remember a security guy at residential area look at my face then down at my feet just before I reached  home as he got out of his car. These moments felt significant, as if I was given permission to do what I was doing, and I have cared less and less since. Up until this point my head was rushing , I was high on adrenaline and dopamine, haha.

Today I wore my most daring shoes yet, a red pair of ted baker flats, which on full display as with the previous 2 pairs. I need to purchase some groceries so I wore them to the local supermarket  which was fairly busy. For some reason I had a sence of calm much better than previous days, but I was still a bit nervous as I made no effort to disguise I'm a guy. I wear a half face respirator, but i think strangers can still tell I'm a guy, as has been acknowledged a few times.

I do own just many heels as flats though, including ballet heels and 6 inch pleasers,  platforms, wedges e t.c. but need to practice for public, and only wear at home.

I can't work from home during the pandemic i work nights so there are hardly any people are around unlike the daytime, plus I wear PPE everytime I leave the house now. That said I'm taking time off from next week as the Covid19 situation worsens here in London and UK. So outings will be for when I need to go to buy something. Uni has been cancelled so that opportunity has gone too.

I wont be posting about my outings in flats since this is a heels site, but if choose to continue with this path in generally, flats are my starting point, and I want to start wearing my 3.5 inch block heels at some point.

In summary my goal Is to wear heels (and womens shoes in general) in public on a regular basis, skirts, leggings .and painted toes, e.t.c.But presenting as a guy, not fully crossdressing. However I intend to keep wearing guys clothes and shoes too, I just want fashion freedom If anything.Although the excitement I felt the past few days makes me want to only want wear womens shoes almost all the time.

I'm still going through inner conflict with this behaviour and thinking of stopping sometimes, none else knows if this. I don't know if I can stop now, and get rid of the desired. I come from an African background and this behaviour would not be tolerated. I'm  screwed,  This is a can of worms  that shouldn't have been opened. But sometimes I really want to stop. But feels too good and exciting.

I now understand what the public heelers here talk about regarding the early stages and how it gets easier exponentially. I cant wait to get out again tomorrow night when I go to work. But I must say the daylight outings are much more fun and liked it how the shoes were on display for anyone to see, but was still nervous.

NO MORE WALKING AT NIGHT TIME IN DARK PARKS.

But health is  the priority right now,  so I will have limited outings or almost none, for a while to come as  the case for everyone.

Apologies for the long post but I had to get this of my chest, and I'm back down to earth now. I will post some pics later. Stay safe.

I know how it is as of African heritage myself. It can be a can of worms initially, but to be honest people have had to adapt to different gender norms, styles of dress etc., and younger generations will more than likely shrug a shoulder than run you out of town.

In this crazy time of Coronavirus and social distancing, there will be few observers, save for any overzealous cops telling people to stay indoors. A casual denim skirt is great for a starter, and if bold enough, the formal office skirts like these are great for work, teamed with booties. A block heel helps with balance. Team it with a guy's shirt. Ebay is great for clothes and heels as well, seeing as most shops are closed  ;)

  16. Glad your trip to the shops went well, @hiddenheels. It can be very nerve wracking the first time out. Observing how others dress helped me. There's this guy on Pinterest who has it down to a fine art, with a kind of corporate chic. So even in the workplace, fashion freestyling can work.

Take your time to find a skirted style that works, this can take weeks or months, I understand the trepidation to share a picture, but one (with head cut off) is fine if you want critique or pointers :cheeky:

I'm expending my energy by shopping. Went to a second-hand store a few days ago and bought another two skirts, one which fits really nicely as is, and another which I'm taking some scissors to, I have something planned for that. :)

Today, wasn't planning on buying anything, but happened to have 30 minutes to kill at a mall while I waited for someone. Walked around, and found a store that looked like it was going bankrupt (it wasn't), but they had a massive section of super-cheap stuff. I ended up buying three brand new skirts, a denim mini-skirt that looks like it's torn for like 5$, a white mini-skirt and a beige one for 2-for-5$. All fit perfectly. Also found a pair of heels, they look sort of like running shoes, but have a stiletto heel and the front is pointy. I think it looks amazing. I have no idea how, but ended up paying ~22$ for the entire collection! All brand new stuff, lots of variety. Will have to go back when I have a bit more time. Will try to post pictures when possible.

It's so easily done! Whilst waiting for a new skirt to arrive (much longer pencil for work), I stumbled into a thrift shop, and ended up with a blouse and three skirts! 2 of which fit, so not bad. The blouse fits like a glove. Looking forward to seeing pics! Next skirt is a new skater skirt, a first for me amongst pencils and A-lines :cheeky:

This looks great, never thought about wedges, but the look works!

Hey, I completely know where you're coming from. I don't know if/how I could broach this subject with my wife, I really don't want any conflict especially over this. But until a week or two ago, I never thought about skirts either, did nothing for me, until I tried them... One step at a time.

That is awesome, love that plaid skirt look! I did order one of these a few days ago, will take forever to get here though, can't wait. Having said that, went to another second-hand store yesterday and did manage to snag a skirt similar to yours, but in blue (instead of black). It's small, but for $5 I couldn't resist. Will have to move (re-sew) some of the buttons after which it'll fit great. The one I bought it was too long, goes down to my knees, so I will also need to take a pair of scissors to it. :) In my mind, it'll look great, just need a few hours to experiment with it, which will not happen in the near future. :(

    ------------

Sunday night managed to go out again! It was already dark outside, in a residential neighbourhood, a few cars passed by, but nothing else happened. Similar outfit to the above, but a "safer" chunky heel 4" ankle boots with a new-to-me denim skirt. Parked, and without another thought managed to get out of the car, adjust myself and start walking. The walk was about 20 minutes, and felt completely natural, wasn't nervous, and was able to just enjoy the quiet and the walk. Interestingly enough, with the heels and skirt "out in your face" (as opposed to hiding it under my jeans), for whatever reason, I actually felt more comfortable. "It's there, can't hide it, so might as well enjoy it." Not sure I would have the courage yet to go somewhere with a lot of people though... At least a few more trips out at night are most likely required.

Glad you like it! Don't alter the knee length skirt, just go and wear it! It may even pass as a "kilt" to some  I found that going out at night, although comforting due to the lack of people, also made me feel I was creeping about a bit, so I decided to just bite the bullet, go to a grocery store and buy something, like some milk (I had ran out). You'll find few people will even react to your attire, and if any do, it's compliments! It takes balls for a guy to go outside the usual jeans or shorts look, there's a growing "genderfluid" trend of dress, with instagrammers like @joshohhgosh who frequently are skirted, or EJ Johnson. I wear regular guys shirts / tops, but a denim skirt instead of denim shorts. You have to show us your denim skirt look
