Well. I want to start with something subtle to gain some nerves for coming along with more visible stuff as I gathering more courage. To be honest. Back in north Sweden folks are more judging for this kinda "behaviour" as many people still stuck in the 20th century.

Thats why I want some discrete to start with. But it will take a while. Have to practice more heeling.

I hear ya buddy....Definitely find some discrete heels, don't forget to frequent thrift stores...Start slow, perhaps driving to the gas station, build up your public heeling time just a little bit at a time.  I truly know and understand how you feel concerning judgemental folks, just please believe us when we tell you that most people really don't have the time, and don't care enough to notice.  We are so nervous, we just assume everyone is watching/judging us.

These were the boots I wore for my first real public outing.  I had worn other shoes outside, but never really in public.  I went shopping with these on and thought that everyone in the world would notice, despite by long jeans that covered most of the heel.  But honestly, no one noticed that I am aware of, and if they did, nothing was said and I evoked no laughter or comments.  I eventually wore some narrower (but still chunky) and higher heels as in the second photo, and I also have had a few pairs of loafer style block heels that I wear on occasion.  As much as I'd like to wear a sexy pair of black patent pumps as in my avatar, at my age and overall appearance, it's just not going to happen...lol.  Stick with what you feel comfortable wearing - both physically and mentally.  Take it only as far as you desire to take it - that is the best advice I can offer.  The world will not end if you wear heels in public - nor will life as you know it.

Those are great boots for getting out and about....The heels are totally manageable, they look great, and probably don't make a lot of noise.....Great with the jeans too

  3. TBG is right....We really do want to be noticed, but want positive reactions.  Needless to say, there is a certain amount of nervousness we have all endured, not wanting to stumble or attract negative attention.  Confidence is key, but that comes slowly.  Taking one of our first outings in 5" heels over skinny jeans might be more than most of us could handle, physically or emotionally, even though this is the outfit we long to wear publicly.  It is best to start slowly, freezing up, or getting caught in a negative situation is a real big set back.

One of my best outings was when a slightly drunk guy said "great kicks" to me while we got on the elevator together.  No, my boots weren't over my skinny levis, and the heel was half covered, but his comment did a lot for my confidence.  Yeah, I know, all that should matter is how YOU feel about your appearance when wearing your favorite heels, but it sure helps if others agree!

  4. Yeah, the best heels for an outing are ones that you can walk in confidently, and comfortably.  Stumbling, or having to take short strides just draws unwanted attention, and kills your confidence.  You may also want to chose a pair that doesn't make a lot of clicking noise while walking, again to avoid unwanted attention.

Needless to say, there is no hard and fast rule about what heel/style is best for comfort and confidence.  I have some boots with 5" heels that are easier to walk in then some of my regular cowboy boots.  But, usually, medium height block style heels are best for initial outings.  I agree with the choice of tighter jeans with a slight boot cut to conceal the entire heel a bit.

It's all about confidence and being comfortable while out heeling.  Being uncomfortable, or unstable, usual causes confidence problems.  I know most of us really want to be able to strut around in powerful 5" heels confidently, but this takes time....

I don't have the Cat's nice figure and great legs, so will never to pull off any of his amazing outfits....Jealous, well sure I am, but I know he has worked very hard to build and maintain his amazing figure....

I wish I had 1/4 of your good sense and courage when I was your age.  You must feel so relieved, and empowered, letting your Mom know about heeling.

Everyone offers sound career advice, finding a balance between doing something you love and earning a decent living is the key.  Take advantage of EVERY educational opportunity that comes your way.  There is no reason why you can't be a firefighter and a competent auto technician.   Starting saving for the future YESTERDAY!  The years go by quickly buddy, and we can be  pretty good at justifying that we will "start saving tomorrow".

I surely understand the motorcycle thing, still wish I had one, but am a little too old now.  But, like everyone has said, you need to drive so defensively, almost as if no other driver can see you, which is fairly true.  Needless to say, alcohol and motor vehicles do not mix.

I envy you buddy, your whole life is in front of you, go for it!  Be a good person to all those around you, and good things will come your way!

  6. Well, that surely is an amazing collection.  Surely not too many, if you still enjoy wearing most of them.  To me, it is very enjoyable to "rediscover" a pair of boots I haven't worn/seen in a long time.  But, on the other hand, there is no sense in keeping pairs that you no longer enjoy wearing.

Please let me/us know if you would like to sell any of your boots, I surely would enjoy wearing them!

my adventure from a few Sundays ago went without too much excitement.  by toning it down a bit in the jeans department the whole experience seems to move down to a different level which definitely has its place as well.  personally i prefer the painted on jeans as the look is so much fun but also brings on the butterflies in a serious way.

i guess the only thing that bugs me these days about going out wearing 6 inch heels is the number of camera phones.  folks just don't care, they'll start snapping pictures.  one old grey haired pot bellied grease ball was lining up to take my picture at a book store and by that point in the day i was getting tired of it, so i gave him the finger when he snapped his picture!  ha ha!!!

on the plus side i ordered two new pairs of Jessica Simpson shoes.  both of them on the 6 inch heel with a 2 inch platform.  pair number 1 is in white and has the same heel and platform as my Dany and Daelyn shoes, and pair number 2 are in black and called Damelo.  very much looking forward to having both of those for my upcoming heel wearing season.

Yeah, there sure are a lot of creepy guys out there, and phone cameras have amplified the problem.  People should be courteous and polite, but these phones have really caused problems.  Don't let the few creeps get you down, enjoy the positive, polite compliments, which you must receive constantly...  I LOVE Jessica Simpson boots, can't wait to see you in them....I really want a pair of those hot JS cowboy boots!

  9. Had a nice thrift store experience today.   I have really been wanting a new pair of knee high boots, but have gotten to the point where I want just leather, not man made materials....

Champagne taste on a beer budget I guess.   Stopped in at a local thrift store with the usual results, the few pairs I would consider seemed too small.  There was one nice all leather pair but the size was listed as 9.5 or 41, I wear 11/43s.  Really liked the boots, so decided to try them on anyway.  Just sat down and put the boots on under my levis, the seemed to fit perfectly.

I strolled up to the female cashier, she said "I think those boots will look stunning on you...."   Didn't know if she was joking, but replied:  "I think so too!"  A great day, not my ideal boots, but pretty good for $10!
