  1. Re: society's attitudes about heels and other "fashion related items", I definitely agree that society has "expectations", but changes can occur- the best example being the masculanizing of ear rings. How it came to be that men were allowed to wear earrings or what it took for those changes, I don't kow. I just know it's ok now for men to wear ear rings in one or both ears (nostrils).

  2. In my serious relationships, once I divulged my heel wearing it ranged from "don't ask, don't tell" to let's have some fun. But never was an issue. I guess I was fortunate to have women for whom the shoes weren't a show stopper. Or they realized that in the greater scheme of life, what shoes you wear really doesn't matter.

  3. I believe that for whatever reason (perhaps a male dominated society/world is the reason), that society more readily accepts homosexuality in women that in men. And by extension, allows women to have more fashion freedom than men. A comedian on a cable comedy show said it best. He said that if he saw two guys in the same bed, in a sensual/sexual situation, it would be "...YUK...". But if her were to see two women in the same bed in a similar situation, his response would be, "...move over..."

  4. Another interesting shoe - though I would never buy it:

    http://www.amazon.com/Strength-Shoe-2000-02BH-Black/dp/B0009AXIH8/ref=sr_1_35?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&qid=1216041913&sr=1-35

Isn't that some interesting idea at least?

Do I understand correctly that by wearing these you can train to wear higher heels by stretching the calf muscle? Or, is that just the opposite effect?

I thought I read that these shoes (sneakers) can help you jump higher.

  5. The answer is a definite maybe!! I think!! Unfortunately, sizing is not that straightforward which is why, if you happened to ask a female her shoe size, you got a paragraph and not a sentence for an answer. A women's 9 can be a men's 7 to 8 depending on the style and cut of the shoe and the width of the person's foot. For example, I wear a women's 10 (sometimes a 9.5) in HH sandals, but a 11 in most closed toes styles and a 11- 12 in boots! Clear as mud!!

  6. good catch, yes i've owned a few pairs before I got married. however before i came out to my wife she threw them away. i told here they were for Holloween. i had a black pair of mid calf boots with a 3.5 inch block heel and a pair of 5.5in chunky pleaser sandals. i still miss those shoes :o

    Sorry to hear about that!

  7. What's scary, Benno, is that I could actually talk myself into wearing the poker chip ones you posted to the casino and tell people they're my lucky shoes....

Here's 4 reasons why you should never smoke crack and design shoes at the same time.:o

    Benno,

Why are you insulting my whole shoe collection (ha ha ha). Just kidding!!!

Seriously, while not necessarily high on the scale of visual appeal, they aren't real bad (IMHO) as I (and a number on this board) have seen much worse!!

StilettoScott, in the words of Borat, "...I love the Wookie boots......NOT!!!!..."

  8. I vote for styles 3 or 4. Not because I like them the most, but because they are the only ones with adjustable ankle straps. That will help keep the shoes securely on your feet, which is very important especially if you are fairly new to heels.
