2008 World Heelmeet Group Hotel Info

hello,

A'm a high heel wearer for, oh so, 30 years. Allways with gf. She died 2.5 years ago. I miss her every day.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure many members here would be happy to support you--myself included.

Not because of the heels. I dont what to say futher. Are there man in your conference like me?

heelsfeels

Welcome to the forum!

May I ask what specifically you mean by the words, "like me?" The men that will be at the heel meet will most likely range in age from their mid 20's to their early 60's. Most socio-economic levels from many different professions will be represented. Some men will be single (like myself), others will have long term steady girlfriends (like HeelD), and others will be married. You are likely to find someone who is able to empathize with your current life circumstance given the diversity of the group that will be present.

Personally, I sincerely hope to meet you in person. admirer5577, iloveboots, Dr.Shoe, or myself sincerely look forward to answering any questions you may have.

I like to be in heels and stockings all day as I a'm now a days. is it possible out there? Thanks, heelsfeel

Everyone who is planning to attend the Annual World Heel Meet, please note, there are only a few months left before your hotel reservation has to be made. The rooms are going fast and from the last report I had by Thistle Euston, they will be sold out for the Heel Meet dates very shortly. The rate we have negotiated must be booked by December 15th in order to qualify for the low rate as noted below. Remember, making the reservation does not cost anything right now, the hotel just takes a credit card guarantee, no deposit.

Cheers,

Not really relevant to the rest of this thread but you might like to know that the hotel is right on the corner of Drummond Street. This is a street with several Indian veggie restaurants. Some people like the Diwana, I prefer the Ravi Shankar. All of them offer good food and good value. Try a thali or a dosa. At the other end of Drummond Street, until recently when they closed down, was Lawrence Corner. This was a sort of military surplus shop that specialised in the whackier end of the clothing and was frequented by young fashionable types in search of something a bit different. The shop now looks very sad and unloved.

We have a few people we are aware of who are looking for room mates at the Thistle Euston in London for the heel meet. If you need a room mate please let us know so we can match folks up and save you some money. If you are travelling as a single and want a room mate the best bet is to book your room using the instructions here on this thread, there is no deposit taken, and then let us know you need a room mate. Cheers, david & cathy

That's it! bookings are closed for the special group rate. However, as David said above if you're travelling alone then we might be able to find a room mate who has already booked. Failing that I have an idea that might help so if you can't get a roomy, PM me.

David,

I just wanted to thank you again for your tireless devotion and assistance in the World Heel Meet preparations. I'm sure those that avail themselves of the Group Hotel opportunity will in retrospect appreciate it as well.

Dr. Shoe,

A similar word of thanks goes out to you as well. You have kindly arranged accommodations for crotchhiboots and have committed to being a local British hub of intelligence and communications.

It's just a couple of more months now! For me, one of the things I love most about travel is the anticipation. In fact, the anticipation is part of the fun, a phase in the game of travel, that is as important as the actual trip itself.

See you all soon!

VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE : 3rd Annual World Heel Meet Hotel Information

The contract for the Thistle Euston Hotel included a minimum number of room guarantee to secure the 98UKL rates negotiated. Failure to meet this room number has resulted in the hotel increasing the negotiated rate of 98UKL to their regular room rate of 210UKL per night! Please be aware that if you have made a reservation at the hotel this is what you will be looking at as a rate.

The hotel many of us stayed at in March of this year for the 2nd Annual meet is the Astor Court Hotel located at Oxford & Bond Streets. This location is very convenient to shopping on Oxford; the Tube station at Oxford & Regent; Soho is in easy walking distance in heels; and the rooms are adequate.

The rate at the Astor Court Hotel is approximately 105 to 115 UKL per night and this includes breakfast. This can be booked at http://www.astorcourthotel.co.uk However, Admirer5577 was able to locate a "pay in advance" booking rate of 76UKL at the site http://www.hotelsclick.com

These are not group rates and there are no special booking instructions.

If you are changing hotel reservations from the Thistle Euston we would recommend that you cancel directly with the Thistle Euston through Lea.

We also have a few members still searching for possible room mates to share accommodation with and reduce cost, PM me if you're in this boat and we'll connect you up.

We are sorry for any confusion or inconvenience this change has brought about. We all look forward to seeing you in February at the Meet! And now we're going to be closer to all that good shopping on Oxford Street....yikes, hide the credit card!!

Cheers and Merry Christmas everyone,

david & cathy

Hi Pumps,

This is the rate Lea at the hotel sent in an email on the 19th as the rate all our reservations were going to as a result of not reaching the group rate minimum.

210UKL is double rate for room with 2 people.

david & cathy

I'm a bit confused about the rates. I booked 4 days for £436 without the discount code. That's £109 each night. Where does the £210 rate come from ?

Just to let everyone know, I've booked a room at the City Inn Westminster. I recalled new_look's advice, and applied it. I booked through www.orbitz.com

I obtained the rate by first reading the review on the tripadvisor.com site, then using the trip advisor link to go to the orbitz.com page.

I am sharing a room with Pumps. We are both paying a mere $203 U.S. per night, including breakfast, floor to ceiling windows, flat screen tv's... Compared to the rate of 199 pounds per night you pay when booking directly through the hotel, this rate is a steal. With taxes and fees, the total in U.S. dollars for the 5 night stay is $1216.65. Divide that by two, and you have a bargain.

Considering that this is one of the top 10 hotels in London according to tripadvisor reviews, this is a great deal for a four star hotel.

Hopefully, others will take note and book there as well. It is a huge hotel, with some 460 rooms. They are most likely selling blocks of rooms to the major discount hotel brokers like Orbitz and Priceline, so equal or better rates are likely to be found at other sites.

EDIT: SPECIAL NOTE ORBITZ TAKES NON US ISSUED CREDIT CARDS. At least that's what the customer service rep told me over the phone. Just go through the booking process and once you've entered your billing address, click the appropriate box. Click on box that says non-U.S. resident. There is an option for European Union residents too "I am a resident of the European Union"

EDIT 2: I found numerous available rooms at the City Inn Westminster by using the travel search engine called: Side Step. Agoda.com is selling the room for $180 per night, skoosh.com is also selling the room at $191 but I think you have to buy the room through sidestep.com.

^ That's great. I was able to book a cheaper rate at the City Inn Westminster than originally planned. Now for the five nights that I am staying there with Pumps, we will pay $1072.50, including all applicable taxes and daily breakfasts. That amounts to just $107.25 per night per person. For just $7.25 per night more than originally planned at the Thistle Euston, we are able to stay central to The Miller and Mass. I booked through hotelsclick.com. Had to wait a day for a reply from the provider. My "dream" is to be as high up as possible in the high rise with a view of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
