Been checking the weather also. It looks like it will probably be stilleto boots, but I will wait until Friday night before deciding.

Metcheck is good site to check for weather forecasts.

According to Yahoo Weather, the weather forecast for Saturday is thunderstorms. So, bring proper rain gear and a pair of shoes you don't mind getting wet!

BeHeelsI sent you a couple of pm's.

No real problem - I like boots! Hence my threadbare brown overknees also into the suitcase, an additional anorak and the sandalettes out!

At least there are no tornados announced :D

The thunderstorms appear to have passed, and the latest TV forecast for Saturday is "Sunny intervals, possibly the odd shower and slightly cool (9c)". Not too bad, huh? Not too late to post below that you are joining the record-attendance-breaking World Heel-Meet (Heels nice, but not compulsory!). Cheers, Heelfan

Hi Guys Yes I will be there. Sorry for the late posting and absence from the board etc but I thought I would take a bit of a back seat for a while. This is not only due to work comittments and stuff but also other people have a chance to organise some events and by the looks of things this will be the best and biggest so far!

Tips for all attendees: 1. Starbucks (the main rendezvous) is approx. No. 124 Oxford Street, but might be a few numbers higher or lower than 124. However, you'll find it if you following the directions at the very top of this thread. 2. It's always a good idea to get a print-out of those arrangements, and take it with you to the meet, to refer to all directions, phone numbers etc. Happy Heel-Meeting one and all, and see you tomorrow! Cheers, Heelfan

Yeah, really enjoyed it. Was good seeing people from my last heelmeet (26th Jan 2002) and a whole bunch of new people. Look forward to seeing the pics. I'm hoping to arrange/come to an Oxford/Reading heelmeet soon. Managed to grab a pair of boots before one of the shops closed (see below) "Oh my God!" blurted the lady sales assistant as I tried them on LOL. Apparently she hadn't seen a bloke buy something from the ladies section before. As ever, it was entertaining watching the reactions of passers-by! I'd recommend anyone to come along to these heelmets as you couldn't get a more sound bunch of people.

My verdict on the Heelmeet (my first one too!): It was great to meet so many forum members and put faces to the Usernames. As bruce forsyth might have once said – “what lovely people!” I thought the day went really well. There were a few logistics problems (including my own when I started off in the wrong Starbucks – D’oh!) but Heelfan did a sterling job of rounding us all up. Kudos to him for maintaining a semblance of order during the day. Some real laughs were had watching the reactions from the people who noticed the heel-wearers in our party. They ranged from disapproving tuts, eyes-raised-to-the-heavens, wry smiles and looks of complete bewilderment. Priceless! It was amazing though how many people didn’t notice anything. Talk about tunnel-vision! The shopping was enjoyable. It was mostly just furtive browsing on my part as I’m still pretty green with it all. I almost got to try on a pair of boots late in the day but I couldn’t do up the b****y zip. Hopefully I’ll have better luck next time. The socialising was excellent, the topics of conversation jumping all over the place. Who says we're all obsessed with heels!?! We ate and drank pretty well too - lager in the afternoon and an eat-as-much-as-you-can Italian buffet in the evening. The perfect combo! Thanks to Jo, Shakedown, Mel, Heelfan, Firefox, the fogborkenvv’s, kneehighs and to all you other attendees for making it a day to remember. It was my first meet, but it definitely won’t be my last!

Always High-Heel Responsibly

"Good game good game!" Funniest look I think was when we were in Dune. Watched the shop assistant help someone for about a minute, then she looked up and saw us lot and then suddently froze! Nice one to kneehighs and Heelfan for organising it all. Also well done to euchrid for trying on a pair in a shop for the first time!

Yes, all went well. I arranged to meet kneehighs at Waterloo station from the Paris Eurostar. Sitting on the balcony of the Reef Bar, I was surprised to see Fogborgenv and his wife joining me. Kneehighs appeared shortly afterwards and we went to Euston Novotel to book him in and drop off his luggage. Kneehighs wondered about the Harvey Nichols ad on the tube, so we Brits had to explain subtlety to him. Oh, BTW, with the characteristic British subtlety comes the reticence. .... KH, your compliment about arranging the event for the 13th especially because I said I was free was noted and much appreciated, even if I didn't show it very obviously. Lots of mobile phone calls later, the use of the expression 'where are you?' became tiresome after a while, organised the total meeting of 18 attendees outside a pub off Oxford street. After more drinking and group photos the need to feed became more pressing, especially in Fogborgenv's wife who has an impressively healthy appetite. We eventually repared to Paradiso, the Italian restaurant which we monopolised for the next couple of hours. They're normally used to me appearing there wearing heels for lunch, by myself, and were quite surprised to see a huge bunch of heelies there. Fogborgenv suggested that we have informal lunch meetings there, in the week, every now and again. Yep, I'm up for that. Various people departed to do some more shopping, but many returned to the Novotel bar for an evening relaxing. Louis needed to catch up on some sleep before some serious clubbing. OH WOW, Louis, that outfit you came back downstairs wearing, the corset, the jacket, the metal-tipped boots, you wear it well man. I hope you night birds had fun on the town, but me, a country boy had had enough of the city racket for one day, so decided to wander home. For those who want the pics, Kneehighs has plenty on his video camera, so I guess these will appear when he gets to somewhere he can download them. Best wishes, all, in the hope that there are many more meets like this. Xa

Yes it was a fun day. I came up to town with Mrs. F and because we didn't want to be up at the crack of dawn we decided to meet Xaphod and Kneehighs at Waterloo. The other reason we did that was becuase I had a makeover booked at the Army and Navy. That was fun, I was surprised that Mrs F didn't throw a major fit when I suggested it, and she was happy as long as she could come along and join in. It ended up quite subtle - I got it toned down as it started to look a bit like a panto dame - a woman of a certain age! We duly met up with Xaphod and had a nice time chatting until Kneehighs arrived. Went up to the hotel and back down to Oxford St and met up with the others. The day was low on shoe shops, we only went into one shop all day. That was fine by me. I'd much rather the socialising, I'm not a fan of shoe shopping mob handed, and with a crowd of fifteen or so there's plenty of scope for people getting lost. We completely lost everyone for about five minutes. Some of us were starving, we'd had no lunch, so eventually we arrived at Paradiso Italian eat as much as you like buffet. Fine value and quality for £6.50 - and some of us ate as much as we liked. I suggested to Xaphod that it would be a good central venue for a lunch time meet up, and promised to put a post in this part of the board about that - before I do I must work out when I can make it though. All in all an enjoyable day for both of us. It was good to meet so many of you, the presence of a strong European contingent added so much to the day. Finally congratulations to Kneehighs for organising the day and for putting such a lot of effort in.

I went up to the London meet;

We all met up in Oxford Street;

There were twenty heelers there;

You should've seen the public stare;

:D

Heelfan of course was wearing heels;

And brought Jo and Peachy in his wheels;

Xaphod turned up rather late;

'cos he'd gone to meet Kneehighs, his mate;

:D

Euchrid, Shakedown, Dougal and Si;

Helped make the time fly swiftly by;

Heelius made the gang complete;

Like us he was wearing heels on his feet;

:D

We looked for Micha and A3;

But they had gone quite wrong you see;

Along with Jan they'd got lost;

And had to wait, that was their cost;

:cry:

First we met in a certain caff;

And sat around and had a laugh;

After which we got some grub;

Then sat outside a local pub;

:drinking:

We tried to pull out all the stops;

And went around the local shops:

I tried on heels and here's the news;

I bought nothing, not even shoes!

:D

Fogborkenvy brought his missus;

And introduced her to all of us;

They had met Xa at Waterloo;

Then came along to join us too:

:D

While the rest were getting their heely fix;

Firefox did some magic tricks;

Calv then found himself in luck;

And found a place to park his truck;

:D

Can't remember the names of the rest;

But for being great guys they were the best;

We had some laughs, we had some food;

And magic tricks, (some almost good);

:o

Then it came time to say goodbye;

With heavy heart I had to fly;

All the way home I was feeling bad;

'Cos to leave so soon was really sad!

:D

Hi Tara, wonderful poetry!

If only my English were better

To express, that it was great

All guys on heels - no matter

Believe me, thats straight!

Thanks to Heelfan and Kneehighs

For doing this troublesome job

Don't need to emphasize

This meeting was top!

OUCH :D

Dear forum members, please, don't whistle too loud. It's my first high speed poem in english. Just back from London since 2 hours. More prosa tomorrow...

micha

PS What about privacy concerning the posting of pictures? My face is definitely world wide free. Pondering about the "half smiley" ...

PPS At the moment I'm a little confused. Are you Tara Dr. Shoe in the internet ?!?

Report - World Heel-Meet, 13th May, London Well, we didn't quite make the 21 hoped for by Kneehighs, due to the sad absence of FGWJON, Dougal and shakedown. However let that not detract from the great fact that it was the all-time RECORD ATTENDANCE of 18 MEMBERS!: Heel-D, Xaphod, Calv, kneehighs from New York, Tara, heeluis from Hamburg, fogborkenvv and Mrs. fogborkenvv, euchrid, Heelfan, Firefox, Peachy (Mel), Si, jo, Robert from The Netherlands, a3 from the Netherlands, micha from Frankfurt aND micha's friend from Germany. It really is gratifying how amazingly the high heel movement is growing - over 2,500 members on Megaforums, and eighteen meeting in person for a street-heeling day! We always say "Heels not compulsory", but all except one wore high heels, and some changed into a second or third pair as the day wore on. Micha turned up in pink cowboy boots, but later changed into a pair of sandals with stiletto heels so high that he actually hit his head on the ceiling of the escalator in Top Shop! Due to the impressive size of the group, much of the time was spent welcoming new arrivers into the group, and waiting for the Waterloo Station group to join the main party. So unusually, although about five or six shoe shops were visited, I don't think any purchases were made. The emphasis was more towards socialising, eating, drinking and chatting generally, with a running entertainment from Firefox who treated us to an array of magic tricks. Soon after 5 pm, Peachy and I had to return to Bristol to enable Melanie to prepare her stocks of extreme heels for the Swamp Fetish Fair which was held in Bristol on the following day, but we trusted that the rest of the party would have a great evening. Before we departed, Kneehighs asked all of the attendees to post reports of the Heel-Meets, very kindly saying that he would sponsor a prize for the best report, to be judged by him and me. The prize is a pair a shoes of the winner's choice from Mel's Peachy Shoes. Telephone Peachy Shoes (0117 3309090) for details of her stocks. So, all those who have not yet posted, please post your report! Those who wish to add to or replace their initial report, please post below! All of us should extend a huge "THANK YOU" to Kneehighs, firstly for conceiving this world record Heel-Meet, and secondly for donating funds to sponsor the winning pair of shoes prize for the best report. Secondly, our thanks to Robert for posting excellent photos of the Meets, and to others who we hope will follow suit. Cheers, Heelfan

Onwards and upwards!
