I admire you for being so bold and brave

Thanks. In the beginning I was both bold and brave. Now that it has become old hat, just bold.

Well I have a few updates on my "outings" as of recently. A few days ago while I was having breakfast at McDonald's, a high school social studies teacher of mine (who is also a regular and now retired) approached me and said hello. I had seen her many times before and she explained that she wasn't sure it was me. It has been quite a while and I have changed a lot. I was wearing my Levis EX-GF skinnies with a burgundy oversize sweater and my Cole Haan Lydia bronze python kneehigh boots with a 3 inch stiletto heel. Not a thing was said about the way I was dressed. She did make a comment though saying that I was still into computers. Some of the other regulars have also accepted me into their circle and usually say hi when they see me. Tonight I wore a dark heather gray pair of Levis action slacks with my Nike Witness tee. For the feet I wore a pair of ivory knee high nylons with my new Gabriella Rocha stiletto pumps. I headed out to Pittsfield and stopped at Rite-Aid to pick up a Starbucks Doubleshot mocha and that cute blonde was there and cheerfully said high to me. At the checkout counter she commented on my fingernails and said that they looked very nice. I had just buffed them smooth and put a coat of shiny nail hardener on them. Next I decided to stop at Big Bill's ice cream and ordered a large triple chocolate ice cream in a dish. After ordering, I sat down in one of their Adirondack chairs to await my yummy treat. While I was waiting a well dressed attractive woman in a pair of narrow wedge heel sandals struck up a conversation with me. We talked about the weather and how it was a great day for ice cream. Again not a word was said about heels (as it should be I think). It seemed that in her mind I was just another high heel lover.

This weekend is a big yard sale weekend here in Skowhegan including the big 10 mile yard sale. My neighbor's were having yard sales as well. So I decided to see what they were selling and getting to know my neighbors. I was out in a pair of skinny jeans with my Restricted Barberella suede ankle boots with 4 inch stiletto heels with my DKNY tee. I spent several hours really getting to know my neighbor's. Got complimented by one of my neighbors on my boots. That same neighbor also suggested we all get together for a neighborhood potluck BBQ. In the trying times that are appearing on the horizon for our country and the world, forging relationships with one's neighbors is prudent for survival if for some reason the economy does collapse (heaven forbid). Talking to them I realized that I'm not alone in my assessment of the state of the world, nor am I the only one prepping for it. It gives me hope that people are finally starting to wake up. A loner will have a tough time in the coming world whether he is prepared or not. It takes a community to survive when times get tough. Take the time to get to know your neighbors and become friends if possible. It's sad how many people nowadays don't even know their neighbors at all. People here in my part of the world can see the writing on the wall and many are prepping. Don't get caught unaware my friends. Those who are not prepared for what is coming will be reduced to a humiliating existence to survive. Many won't survive. Please don't be among them. I care about all of you. Sorry for hijacking my own thread but this is too important to remain silent about. I will say nothing more on this matter and thank you all very much.

Well it's been awhile since I posted here. Have a couple of things to report. The first happened about a week ago. I was wearing a beige chenille over-sized sweater (the weather was cool), Levis EX-GF skinny jeans, and my Restricted Barbarella ankle boots. I was in front of the theatre getting ready to go in for work when a hacked full size pickup went by with some jerk laughing at me at the top of his lungs out of the passenger side window as the vehicle went by. Didn't bother me in the least. Truth is he should be the one laughed at with his unwashed dumpsters 'R' Us wardrobe. He was just another one of those extraordinary cowards that would only hurl insults from a moving vehicle. If I were the driver of that truck, I would have been embarrassed. So far the only insults I have received were from people that were complete slobs. I could have felt hurt, but why should I? Look at where the criticism came from. The other happened the other night at the theatre. I was wearing my DKNY tee with a dark heather gray pair of Levis Action Slacks with my Romantic soles pewter platform pumps (not my favorite by a long-shot, but they fit well). Anyways as the movie was getting out an elderly customer expressed how much she liked my shoes.

Great post, Shafted, thanks for sharing! I loved your expression "dumpsters R us wardrobe!" That's hilarious! Made my day! HA HA I very much admire your attitude and consideration of the source of that criticism. It's meaningless. The compliment from the theater patron more than makes up for it. Steve

Well here I am at the Skowhegan McDonald's again. After ordering a steak, egg and cheese bagel with hash browns, orange juice and coffee I headed over to the condiments/soft-drink area to grab a napkin. As I headed to my seat I heard a woman softly say, "Look at his shoes when he walks by." I had to chuckle to myself over this one. I was wearing my Levis EX-GF skinnies with my Something Else Fuse fake black patent 4 inch stiletto ankle boots by Sketchers. I tend to wear these boots on rainy days as they do make a great stiletto heeled rain boot and it is very wet and rainy here in central Maine. Wore my heather gray DKNY tee and topped it off with my fedora.

Well here I am again in my usual breakfast and coffee hangout (McDonald's). I'm wearing my Nike Witness tee, Levis EX-GF skinny jeans with my Highest Heel Dragon knee-high black boot with the red embroidery (see attached outfit). After a while it came time for me to get a refill of my large coffee. While I was waiting in line another woman in line said the following: Her: I love you boots! Me: Thank you. Her: Your boots are awesome! Me: Thanks.

The other night at the theatre I overheard a woman saying to her husband. "Did you see his boots? I have to ask him where he gets his boots." She never did approach me and ask. I was wearing my black suede knee-high spike heel boots from Kimel Design Studio. This morning as I was leaving McDonald's I heard a male voice from a vehicle at the drive-thru window say, "OMG, that's a guy." I was wearing my Levis EX-GF skinny jeans, No Boundaries lion faced long sleeve jersey. and my Miss Tina black suede stiletto boots with gold heel, sole and piping.

It isn't very often I get to write about negative experiences, so here it goes. I was dressed in my usual skinny jeans and knee high suede stiletto boots. I stopped at Dysarts/Corner Citgo in Pittsfield to pick up some dinner on the run. When I came out headed back to my truck I hear this a-hole. Him: Hey! Me: (ignoring him) Him: Hey! Me: (I turn to him) Him: How much for a r&$job? Me: Why? Are you offering? Him: Queer! Me: A%$hole! All this bravery on his part from inside a parked vehicle that could move at a moments notice. Good thing for him too as my police grade pepper spray was at the ready.

What I would have done was asked ' Are you a cop? Solicitation without properly identifying yourself is entrapment and illegal '. Hecklers, gotta love the appeal they leave for being made into entertainment. :D Good job on your part! -ILK

Quite right. And the kicker is he probably didn't even know just how stupid he was to have said what he did. Still doesn't I suspect.

I wouldn't be surprised if alcohol was involved, lowering his inhibition and allowing his manners to disappear. Well, pioneers are the ones with arrows in their backs, Shafted, and you just got another one, but don't worry. It's not fatal. Keep at it, sir! You're an inspiring example to us all, and if you encounter an idiot once in a while, that's to be expected. They're out there. Steve

This morning after church I switched out my 2 inch cuban heel boots for a pair of black pinstripe stiletto pumps and headed for McDonald's for breakfast. Again as usual this morning there was a large amount of Quebec customers there. I caught quite a few sneaking peeks at my shoes when it dawned on me. I have probably been exposing a rather large number of people from Quebec to the concept of a guy wearing stiletto heels. I recall one member here from there that said people there are not at all open to the idea of a guy in heels. Well if they keep making their annual pilgrimages to Old Orchard Beach and swamping the Skowhegan McDonald's with business, they soon will be. Who would have thought that I am in a position where I can influence people's opinions from Quebec by showing it to them first hand and up close.

Probably because I wanted to give him the opportunity to say something good. He did after all go out of his way to get my attention.

After church this morning I headed out to McDonald's for breakfast and coffee. I'm wearing a No Boundaries lion face long sleeve jersey with dark heather gray Levis Action Slacks. On my feet I'm wearing my Highest Heel Glitzee pump in silver camo glitter. This is the pair with the 4 inch nickle plated steel heels. A couple of neat things happened so far. The first was from one of the cashiers who wanted to know how I did it. She claimed to have all she can do to handle 1 inch heels. I really do find that difficult to believe. The other happened while I was getting my coffee cup refilled. I caught this cute little brunette snapping multiple pictures of me and my shoes with her cellphone after which I could see her feverishly texting away. (obviously she wanted someone to see it) Go for Honey, spread it around as much as you can. One thing I'd like to add, which is contrary to what many have said here. That is people do notice. Most just take a fleeting glance and pretend not to notice. A place like McDonald's is a good place to see that phenomena. Some are better at hiding it than others, but I can assure you most do notice.

Shafted: Sounds like you had a most interesting outing. Good for you! I've also had women come up to me and say I manage to walk in heels better than they can, something I consider to be quite a compliment, regardless of if they're stretching the truth or not. As for that girl snapping pics of you, I suspect you're probably the star attraction of her network of friends by now. I can just imagine the shocked and surprised cries of "OMIGAWD!" as they see you! Yes, I fully agree that people do indeed notice us. I've had more than my fair share of eyes fall on me when I walk into Best Buy, Barnes & Noble or Chick-Fil-A in a skirt, but while no one breaks out gasping or laughing or points derisively at me, I have no doubt that people do see me, but 99 percent of the people I encounter in my travels are, as I've said many, many times before, too wrapped up in their own lives and affairs to pay much attention to a guy in a skirt, they get a fleeting glimpse, then it's back to business. I don't think I've ever had anyone overtly snap pictures of me like that girl had. Covertly? That's another story.

I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman!

Here I am again at the Skowhegan McDonald's enjoying my coffee with a little HHPlace. Saw this guy who happened to keep stealing looks at me from the serving line. I didn't think too much of it. I was wearing my No Boundaries lion face print jersey with my Levis EX-GF skinny jeans. For footwear it was the Cole Haan Lydia kneehigh boots in bronze python. All of a sudden there was a flash that got everyone's attention followed by that guy high tailing out the door. The general response from people around me was as one person put, "What was that all about" to which I explained casually what it was all about. Of all the photo's taken of me in public, as much as I have searched the internet, with the exception of here and highheelspassion, I've never found a single photo of me. Go figure

I can assure you Steve, you're not ugly. It does attest to the fact though that one can establish oneself in heels as normal, proven by the response of that one person nearby who said ,"What was that all about?"

Perhaps that pic he took was for his private collection, which, in itself is more than a tad disturbing.

I also feel it's time to end gender based clothing that men should have the same fashion rights as the woman have enjoyed for 60 years. Equality in Fashion!

I really like the styling with the contrasting textures of the materials and the lace-up detailing on the back is cute too. Very stylish in both the brown and black versions, it's great that you could have both. In truth I'd wish the heels to be a little higher and more slender, but still they should look pretty sharp with your skinny jeans and jacket. Enjoy!

If you like it, wear it.
